I think he's going along the thought process of Nintendo icons and strictly made it about Nintendo, which doesn't make sense to me.
Scott’s best idea from this was “The Museum.” I actually like that idea.

I honestly agree with most of this. The one part I disagree with is the roster being that heavily cut, as although I do believe the next game should remove a good few characters, I don't think we should lose half of them. I'll happily sacrifice Corrin and Young Link to see Ganondorf get a real move set, but I'm not going to lose King K. Rool.

The problem is that everyone is someone’s main.
For example, I know I and a lot of other players would drastically cut down the Fire Emblem roster if we were in charge of Smash, but my older brother’s an Ike main, and it’s debatable if there’d be room for him.

As an active main of the Mii Sword fighter and Bowser, I would disagree. Smash characters are the most important part in playing smash bros. Stages are important too but you can't play smash bros without the characters.

Some say that cries of "Make melee two!" Can still be heard today.
I love how Melee 2 is literally Melee "But my main is buffed and everyone else is nerfed to make the game more "Balanced"" to most melee players.
Just put a speed slider and a gravity slider on the match options so you can finetune the physics to be more like melee.
@@mhfiver2441 You could alter the speed and gravity but it still wouldn't play anything like melee without wavedashing, l-cancelling, edgehogging, etc while still keeping ultimate's crazy input lag and buffering. that would just be faster ultimate.

@@mhfiver2441 None of the things I mentioned (wavedashing, l-cancelling, and edgehogging) are 'glitches', but intentional mechanics, not that it matters. glitch or not they make up fundamental options that make melee play and feel like melee. melee is all about spaced aerials and highly technical and fluid movement in and around platforms, both of which are greatly simplified if you remove those mechanics.
you're welcome to not enjoy those mechanics, but that's probably because you don't enjoy competitive melee, in which case you have no business telling competitive melee players what they should want lmao
@@JH-ty2cs You are right. I'm not a competitive melee player. I do not understand the nuances of using such advanced techniques, and their absence on other titles is meaningless to me. And to be honest, if you really want to play melee, you just go play melee instead of asking for melee 2, which is not going to happen, at least not officially.
To me, the highlights of melee was the faster speed and higher gravity, which lends to a more hectic gameplay, which can be emulated to some degree with spirits on ultimate.
I never really told you what you should want. But you really shouldn't expect Melee 2 outside of a mod or a fan game. And even if it does come out, I'm pretty sure it will change these mechanics so crucial to competitive play, because honestly, not any of the smash games were made with this in mind, so why should melee 2?
Anyway, I'm not trying to rile up any alacrity here. I'm just failing to see how these very specific and complex mechanics should influence the franchise in such a way to cater to a very passionate and very vocal, but unfortunately small part of the community.
What would be really cool is if the museum had secrets, like imagine if you had to use a character with a really good verticals recovery to see the kid icarus exhibit, or a character with explosive attacks to bomb a wall to reach the Zelda exhibit

Well I don't think they can keep using all the 3rd party characters put in this game forever.
Some I know can be used for game after game with little legal and corporate issue due to great cooperation between companies, while others are likely one and done deals simply to bring more cash to said company. (While certain elements of Nintendo care about smash and its fans a lot, other companies are not obligated to pander to them one bit.) And there's the possibility the relationship between companies can sour.
At least with first and second party games, you know you can use the characters again and again because they belong to no one else but Nintendo or rely on the Nintendo company/consoles to let their games be playable.

I find it really strange that many of the comments are arguing that the Miis aren’t an iconic part of Nintendo’s history. They’re literally Nintendo’s avatar character, and have appeared in several games of their own, including the best selling game of all time, Wii Sports.

BKM Tbh I agree with the decision. Honestly, the Gunner is the one with the most “uniqueness”. Which, I know, isn’t saying a lot, but objectively it’s true as the only comparable mainstream character is really Samus. Mii Swordfighter in particular has no reason to be spared above the others.

I loved those on the original N64 smash. Each characters stages was unique, and was meant as a way to learn to master each character. I loved going through all of them and getting the best times for each character on the original game. I really missed those in the other games.

Cardboard I think it's fair if Fire Emblem gets two characters out of a cast of 40 or so, why would he cut Robin? Unique moveset + Awakening brought a lot of attention to the series so I think it's fine he stays over Lucina or Chrom. @@samgoesbam1108 no way, it's way too bloated. This makes it hard to balance, means there's too many matchups to learn, it takes too much development resources, and they don't even play terribly differently. Theres no need for one trillion fighters
a tetris or puyo puyo stage would be pretty neat to see, maybe when matches happen they could do something special
Or a puyo puyo tetras stage like the dkc returns stage where ones in the foreground and the others in the background
This would probably never happen, but I’m imagine a world where you can have people fighting on a puzzle league stage, and someone else can actually play the stage, changing the terrain the others are fighting on.

If we're getting any kind of Puyo Puyo content, I think it should be a stage and maybe Arle as an assist trophy. I would be fine with her being a fighter and I actually expect her to be one, but honestly I think she fits the AT role more.

then when you choose the B-Side version, the fighting area and background get swapped and now your fighting on TTC from MKDS

it would be really cool for when you unlock a character, to have a little animation for that character in the ways that they introduce characters.
10:45 Nooooo. The greatest part of subspace emissary was how there was a total of like three words spoken, but it still told a relatively complex and interesting story. I love the non-dialogue method of telling a story, even if some parts are kind of awkward (like Snake telling the princesses to stay in the halberd with a... hand gesture or something.)
This is a Smash Brothers game. I doubt they can have stories that are decent, let alone complex.
@@TheSmart-CasualGamer Have you ever played the subspace emissary? the story is infinitely better than you would expect from a fighting game or even a regular nintendo game. I would recommend if you haven't tried it.

@@annecameron4787 It wouldn't be a bad finish for such a legendary franchise. I'd let the fans do their mods if they really want to make it crazier, but as it is...yeah it doesn't get much better. Better netcode is the only thing i can think of on improvements, aside from balance stuff.
