  • The Ferrari Testarossa was one of the biggest pin-up supercars of the 1980s. We get behind the wheel of the second-generation 'Redhead' - the 512TR - to find out if it still lives up to the legend. In association with online auction specialists Chrome Temple Motors.

Is a Testarossa/TR your dream Ferrari? If not, what other classic Ferrari would you like to see in action? Please comment below, like and subscribe. Also read the written article here - www.whichcar.com.au/features/1992-ferrari-512-tr-review-testarossa

IF you were to remake the testarossa (most of the overall look outside at least), what would you change?
Could one do something with the tail and the pop up lights? oculd one do somehting with the wheels? could one make the interior more like the chiron or rolls? could one do something about the lights behind? and the exhaust pipe looks? could one add rear seats without screwing up the design?
What would you do if you had a team of 100 people on the ready to remake the car from a clean sheet? For one one could make it carbon fibre and stuff.

I find myself commenting on all 512 TR reviews like this, so here I go again; I have one and have done about 50000 km/ 35000 miles in it. It is a wonderful car to drive. Take it on trips, drive nice roads with 50 mph/ 80-90 kph speed limit ( meaning you can bash the car around at up to 150 mph!). I am 6ft 2in ( 190 cm) tall with 45 euro size shoes. No big problem fitting in.
It drives really good and you feel special the whole time.
It is underappreciated. Does cost a bit to maintain ( mainly when the differential break ( It will break, I guarantee you. 20 000 usd/euro) + timing belt-change every 4 years( 5000 usd/ euro incl. oil and some other bits that you probably need to replace from time to time) but it doesn`t loose value so in the end it is not that expensive after all :-)

This car is so under appreciated, had one for 3 years and it was incredible and totally reliable

Great car and in my opinion the best car in the Testarossa series. Faster and better handling than the original car but still great a great looking car. The later 512M had a little more power but I've never been a fan of the styling.

515TR is simply the Testarossa perfected. More modern front end and bigger, better designed wheels make for nice upgrades.

Steering wheel extensions are available to bring the wheel closer to you. I have one on my Testarossa. It’s just an inch thick but makes a big difference.

Doesn't it sound good? What was the point in masking the engine sounds just playing music over the top? Should have got some drive by engine sounds!

Had a 959 poster on my wall, back when they were new, even saw one in person...along with a Ferrari F40, which I also saw on the road. Not to mention attending many historical events "back in the day."

Great car, great review. I also love the black on black color scheme. Its the best I think, also I dont think that is a flat black exterior, it looks special.

I still not understand why is the Testarossa not considered a Hypercar and as good and beautiful like the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and La Ferrari !?

Because it is an iconic somewhat comfortable 12 cyclinder GT car …. it is not as rare, raw, edgy or extreme as the said mentioned limited Ferrari’s

Alas, a couple of errors in the video that we didn't want to remain there for all-time, so we decided to fix and re-upload. Not ideal and of course we aim to be better than that! Thanks for the compliment though mate.

I feel like this was a terribly wasted opportunity to showcase the car, the experience and the sound; instead spending so much time telling us details we can find online ☹️

A flat-12 is a 180-degree V12? That is some serious nonsense right there, especially when you add the word "technically". A flat is a flat, and a V is a V. And you think it's pedantic to note the actual model? Very strange.
