Can the Sailor Compass 1911 Satisfy all your Desires? -- Fountain Pen Review and Demonstration

  • Today we're taking a look at and using the Sailor Compass 1911 to do a drawing. I was really impressed with this pen. I was expecting it to be "just another fountain pen" but I guess that's the whole problem. So many fountain pens these days look exciting, fancy, and are generally over the top, but they don't actually perform that well which is what really matters. Even though this pen is bright yellow, it still manages to be understated, and performed flawlessly for me as I drew with it.
    Find this pen here: goldspot.com/c...
This video also includes a fanmail section after the drawing, thanks to everyone who sends me stuff! You're all very kind and generous.

I lost the person of my dreams, because I was intimidated by them. I wish I hadn't. I wish I hadn't walked away. I was young then. However, I must say, now that I'm older, I can say that I wasn't then ready for relationships. Perhaps I would have grown though, or even been the most content. However, I would have known what it was like to take on the intimidation. At 56 years old, I am still intimidated by things that stretch me with others. I can stretch myself when I'm alone, with my talent and abilities in private. It's with others I struggle.

    • @Monica---
      @Monica--- 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes! I agree with @MichaelSalonga. Also, dating sites are a gamble at best. The key is to strike up conversations in public with females without doing so just because you're attracted to them physically. In fact, you'll be surprised how many lovely women are out there who aren't what society would deem as attractive, but would make a wonderful companion. I promise you'll discover the love of your life if you'll just began your journey by looking for a friend, rather than a girlfriend. 😜
I love my alone time and I think you do too, so say that upfront. I feel like most men are at a loss as to how to approach a woman, but it starts with something simple like asking a question (make one up), being yourself, and not giving up.
I don't know if this is worth writing, but you have thousands of ladies who watch your videos...maybe there's a way to connect with one of them? The truth is, while we all are dealing with this pandemic, a pandemic of loneliness is rampant in this world. I feel it's not new, just extremely magnified during this time. Hang in there...sending you a great big hug of support. 💗🥑🦋

Peter that’s a really interesting problem, I’m in Chicago dating again after ending a fairly long relationship, and dating apps are so weird, even for someone that’s pretty comfortable and confident in most situations.
As a little tip! I’ve always felt the less you can text the better, instead of texting someone all day, try and find an excuse to hangout. If it’s hot outside, complain about the heat, if they agree, invite them to a cool little ice cream shop. Inverse with cold and hot chocolate.
You both like movies? Maybe you can make a lil date watching Wes Anderson films or studio ghibli.
Also if you can handle it, some of the most attractive people I know have found healthy long term relationships with people that aren’t necessarily “Hot”, but are instead sweet, kind, and funny. It doesn’t hurt to be interesting or talented either.
Best of luck! And thanks for all of the calming joy your videos bring.

Dating apps suck. It’s takes dating by looks and assumptions to a science level, which is terrifying for those of us who already over analyze :P. Picky, especially in dating apps, is a sign of health, I think. Being happy with being alone means you are less likely to settle for someone who doesn’t make your life better. Go team!

Omg, I relate to the dating portion so much. You connect with someone, you have great conversation, you relate on so many ways, you think everything is going well, etc. Then once you ask to meet up, have coffee or chill at a park, they just ghost you. I'm an introvert and it takes a lot of mental and emotional push for me to finally ask someone to go on a date. So when they just ghost you, for reasons you don't know besides, you think that they really didn't like me to begin with, it hurts lol. I guess I'll just try again 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @fricki1997
      @fricki1997 3 ปีที่แล้ว

It's been similar for me. Everyone's different, so it's impossible to tell what would be best - When to ask to move beyond chatting online, how long to wait, not knowing if there will be a better moment in the future or if maybe this is the best you'll ever get along with while staying online, if expressing the want for more will lead to you getting closer, or destroy something before it could grow naturally. Every social interaction is a bit like a "black box", or maybe Schrödinger's cat cage - you'll only know what's inside when you open it, and once you've done so, you can't move back.
At least that's what made it stressful for me.

  • @repeatdefender6032

    Hi Peter!
Dating apps are super awkward for lots of people, it’s not just you. As a fellow introvert who is very comfortable alone I can relate, I have no idea what to say to people on there plus I’m on the autism spectrum and communicating without body language and voice inflection is confusing. You’re never really sure what a person is looking for at first so I recommend being as straight forward and honest as possible. I’ve also found people to seem interested until I wanted to meet in person, I really don’t get that. I think it is intimidating to other people to be so comfortable and often alone, that’s a thing I have a hard time relating to other people about-- I like home, that’s where all my fun stuff is and my pets are there, if I have food I just don’t leave that much. Covid lockdown is pretty much already my way of life, lol.
My dude, you’re handsome and interesting and funny, you have big beautiful eyes and a kind, expressive face with the sort of smile that makes others smile immediately. You’re smart and thoughtful and extremely talented, you’re not out of anyone’s league by any means, don’t sell yourself short. I can’t lie, being an introvert does make it harder but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Introverts are resilient and Imaginative.
Good luck, my friend. Also remember you’re not a lesser person for not being in a relationship.

Oof i felt this. I rather vibe with someone on a couch or on a carpeted floor with a video, music, audio book or pod cast on while reading or writing or drawing. It’s just that comforting thing that’s hard to explain but like, you know that this person is also content and doing their own thing and you just enjoy their presence. It’d be nice to just hold this person close to you too. Hear their heart beat. Just being in the moment with that person. Dating is fine but it’s more... meh. Especially being around really loud, crowded places. Hard to enjoy eachother’s company when being drowned out by 100’s of passers by

I don't think anyone who attempts to curb their lonely feelings goes onto a Dating App and knows what they are going to get out of a simple date with someone. The point of dating apps, for myself at least, is to vet people of similar interests of your own and then take it to the "meeting" level. After that you can decide to see each other again and its a lot more casual and off the cuff. Keep at it, even if you dont want a companion - its nice to put yourself into the pool and see if you do find someone :) Good luck, Peter!

I meet my husband on eharmony, it took me two years on the site to find him. We have been together for 10 years, but I had to have a lot of hum nice person but not the one. Dating is weird, good luck and click on the people you are intimidated by, don’t overthink it. You both are just people wanting to meet new people.

Dating apps only worked for me once I had been on them long enough to treat them kind of business like. It takes some practice to be able to send a message that illustrates that you've read the profile and have genuine interest, but aren't in fantasy land imagining a fairy tale future. Its like sales, for better or worse, get used to hearing No.
I think i was on OK Cupid for...4 years off and on before I met my partner (we're at 2.5 years, 5x my previous longest relationship)
Keep it up, be patient, loosen expectations, and just be you

Not really sure about the pen. That seemed to have a lot of fuzzy and bleed. Could be the pen, the ink, or the paper. A bit more experimentation would e appreciated. If I was writing with that, bleed at that level would eventually torque my chain a fair amount...
Funky video. First time watcher. I will be back for more.

I’m no expert peter , But I wanna help you like you helped me, here are a couple things I’ve learned from dating apps. Watch out this is a long comment. You may not even read this but other people going through the comments might enjoy it.
Dating apps are pretty whack, I don’t know what it’s like for attractive people, but I’ve found that 9/10 ladies don’t swipe right or heart you or whatever. And the ones that do 9/10 of those have the worst conversation skills ever it would be more fun talking to a brick wall. So it’s probably not you that is failing the talking and getting to know each other and meet up.
Secondly you can’t be thinking about spending the rest of your life with them straight up. That’s like going to pick a car or a house that you’ll have for the rest of your life! Yeah your going to be picky as hell and you may not even get It once you choose. You’ll find that if you think about the present time instead of the future, making choices seems a lot easier. And you may get end up living in that house or driving that car that you love, or you won’t. For relationships it’s the same idea, If it’s a one time thing, that’s fine. if it’s a casual thing on the DL, that’s fine. If it lasted a lifetime that’s fine too.

Damn peter I realy like you! You are so genuine! Hope you are doing good! Yeah I get your vibes around dating apps, I think the best thing to do is date in real life as fast as possible. But that seems not the norm on those apps so I don't know how long you should wait.

I think there is great generosity in you talking openly and honestly about your life and experiences. I can guarantee you that nobody in any relationship, at any stage of their relationship can see 40 years into the future! :D My natural setting is over-think too, or rumination as psychologists call it. But I have learned some self discipline to just stop when it's not serving me or getting me anywhere.

I loved your intro! So "That's what I do."
I personally hate dating apps, I would rather meet someone in real life and have a chance to get to know them on a more personal level. I've met some doosies that I've taken the time to meet in person, and ALL of them were a NO GO for me. I seem to be one of those people who would rather be alone than with the wrong person though, just my personal preference. I have friends of course, but so far, none of them are my "the one" so to speak. "Would this person be willing to let me sleep in if I wanted to? If I wanted to cook something, would they like to try it as well? Would they be allergic to my pets? Would I be allergic to them? (I have bad allergies and need what I call 'unscented friends'.) Of course a whole lot of other things come into play as well. I think, when we're ready, we will find who we want to be with, but until then, I enjoy my "freedom" even though I am lonely.
Thank you for opening some mail in this video, you get some really wonderful and creative people sending you mail! Much love and well wishes to all of you out there in the world 🥰 Stay safe and stay creative!

I watched this about a minute after you posted it but I was half asleep and cosy so didn't comment then. Super video, and heart touching - I remember those dating (or more accurately, feeling obliged to find people to date) days with both joy and horror, and the feeling I would always be lonely and I would never find someone to love or to love me. I enjoy being alone, but I have now been married for some time to a really wonderful person and have my own little family (my 14 year old has loved your videos since she was about 8, and it was her that got me into watching you). They dovetail into my own introversion beautifully as they are happier in their own company, too. I know it's a cliche, but the important things in life always happen at the right time.

Try not to overthink it, see it as just getting to know people, and let it flow to wherever it goes. Sometimes when we overthink, and play out all the scenarios in our heads, it becomes much bigger than it is.
You might think someone is out of your league but you never know, they could like you just as much, so send that little heart!
Also, regarding what you said about someone who was interested, suddenly ghosting after you’ve asked them out, it might have been a little too soon for them. Sometimes people like to speak a little longer, to get to know someone better before meeting up in real life.
Thank you for being so raw and authentic. I love listening to you speak and watching your drawings. You’re so talented, and also super funny and seem like a really cool person. Sending you lots of love and wishes of peace and happiness.

Hello Peter D., I was wondering if you could make another real time vid. I do enjoy those so much more. Yes, I thoroughly enjoy listening to your voice as you draw, but I know that I would enjoy it that much more if it were to be a real time drawing. I enjoy the calmness nature of your doodle art. I have tried to draw as you do, but that blessing is no longer one that have and can enjoy having gone through my passed events, so now I enjoy coloring which is the calm that I can enjoy with no judgements. Remember, Real Time Drawing please :)
