YAMAHA 421 BANSHEE with a Honda Thumb Throttle! 👍💥

  • Sharing a recent modification I made to the Yamaha Banshee. Installation of a Honda 400ex thumb throttle. I compare a Chariot Performance thumb throttle to the 400ex and explain what needed to be modified to make this work for my 35PWK carburetor combination. The 400EX thumb throttle should work on other model ATV's.

    Hey, that video is going to be a big help to the people looking for that option on their ATVs. Nice modification work inside too.

      That's why I made it. Not much content out there on the subject. Pioneering in the abyss!

    A few subtle differences add up to a substantial difference when combined. Thanks for the video!

    Can you make a video on how to change a twist throttle back into a thumb throttle ?

    • @WestCoastRoller
      @WestCoastRoller  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      very simple...... buy a cable for a thumb throttle and a hook it to a thumb throttle.....

    My buddies and I are in our mid 30s we all recently got mini bikes to rip around the trails....I notice after about 30 mins my grip is already sore and annoying.i ordered a thumb throttle to maybe fix that...I hope it works I do understand thumbs are for AT.V. and snow mobiles but I have no break on the right side so I should be more comfortable. Thanx for the video I needed to know these things

    Not just 4 wheelers, people use them for dirt bikes, scooters and oh yeah.. 600cc motorcycles. They are great in that they prevent whisky throttle.

    Very detailed info on someone wanting to do this swap. I'm sure you answered it before in our talks. But curious we you don't like the twist throttle conversion??

      I've tried a twist throttle before. Had one on this quad when I bought it. Great for drag racing on a 4Wheeler doing straight runs not so great for all out MX riding turning I found personally. It's really all personal preference.

    The thumb throttle you have was only run on the 2003-2004 Honda 400ex (because it has the honda logo on the cover). All the other years (1999-2002, 2005-2014) the cover is blank and that is the throttle you want.

      The 200 sx and 250x and 300 ex all have the same throttle with the Honda logo

    Hi, I have a 2009 yfz carburettor. The stock thumb throttle gives me a sore thumb within minutes! Looking forward to replacing it with the Honda 400ex thumb throttle but I do not have any idea on how to do it. Are there any guides for beginners to do the install? Thanks!

    • @WestCoastRoller
      @WestCoastRoller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just have to make sure your throttle cable threads will thread onto the honda throttle AND it opens up your carb slide all the way open....you may have to do some grinding to make it work. That's about it!

    What easy carb springs? I did not understand what you meant. I have a twist throttle. I'm not sure if it has a spring inside. But I would like to try a thumb throttle again.

      Easy springs go in carbs 33-39pwk. Must have will work with twist throttle. Fast racing sells them check eBay

      Best setup for me is a honda throttle with trx90 thumb lever. Easy springs go in carbs 33-39pwk. Must have or sore ass thumb!

    Where did you buy the ez carb spring? Did that help a lot with thumb cramping on long rides? I get horrible sore thumbs with the stock YFZ throttle.

    • @WestCoastRoller
      @WestCoastRoller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fast racing sells them as well as Redline racing....for the PWK carb series only. Not sure if they would be compatible with a yfz carb.

    OK. This question is not directly to the shift element, but do you happen to know why my rubber mountain bike handles get so sticky? I'm sure I can google it at some point, I just remembered bc I watched your vid :)

    • @WestCoastRoller
      @WestCoastRoller  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the grips? Are they rotating out of place?

    • @coolcatcarolena4951
      @coolcatcarolena4951 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      West Coast Roller yes! The grips. No way to fix that hu?

    • @WestCoastRoller
      @WestCoastRoller  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try pulling them off and redoing them with new glue, spry paint, or compressed air....youtube videos on it.
      I use the clamp on type grips as shown here in the video. I also use them on my mountain bike. They eliminate the grips form turning as they "clamp on" with small allen screws against handlebar. Very easy to install hope this helps!

      West Coast Roller thanks. I mean, the grips themselves are sticky on the outside. They don't roll around or slip. My hands or gloves get all this goop on them which is almost impossible to take off. I think the glue melted thru.. thanks for your help. Keep making videos on all kinds of topics!
