Great series on this YZ-144! Thank you. You definitely do not want a thumb throttle on a motorcycle. A twist throttle provides far more precise acceleration control. If you race, where you need to continually weigh the pegs for balance and traction, you will get a cramp in the palm of your hand as well as arm pump after an hour. I understand that a thrumb throttle can make sense on an ATV, where weight and balance is distributed among four wheels. I wonder if racers on ATV ever go to a twist throttle.
Makes a lot of sense to me! I was wondering why when I was a youngster, my friends and I never experimented with thumb throttle but, We had plenty experience of riding and using a damn piece of string as throttle until we could get to Yamaha Shop.

Sounds real clean, to make a whole shot, you need to be a bit more on the tank, in 2nd gear and at least near half throttle or close, from there pop the clutch. By shifting your weight more close to the tank, the bike will put more to the floor.

The thumb throttle is nice quality. My only concern would probably be in gncc racing conditions in rough terrain and that thing moving into a different position on me. I’d buy one with a fixed thumb for sure.
Really nice job on the bike and nice throttle the only issue with the thumb throttle is when taking jumps your hand can slip off the grip ! I prefer the grip throttle myself but very nice job !

Really nice bike I’ve always been a fan of yz 125’s but never got to ride or own one. It sounds like a beast and nice work on the 400ex, I can’t wait to see it when it’s done.
Great series
The thumb throttle is nice quality. My only concern would probably be in gncc racing conditions in rough terrain and that thing moving into a different position on me. I’d buy one with a fixed thumb for sure.
As a kid I always wanted a thumb throttle on my bike. One too many whiskey throttle moments. I couldn’t do it now.
Really nice job on the bike and nice throttle the only issue with the thumb throttle is when taking jumps your hand can slip off the grip ! I prefer the grip throttle myself but very nice job !
