    May I recommend black cable ties?

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No. I purposely used white zip ties in the engine compartment so I can easily see where I added them in case I need to remove, reroute or repair. I used black behind the grill and places where white might be visible.

    Been wanting to do this and now I have your video as a guide! Do you know if the camera is compatible with the 7” screen too? I can’t really seem to find much on it online.

      Thanks for watching. According to Zautomotive- this only works with the 8.4 UConnect radio. See www.zautomotive.com/product/jeep-gladiator-jt-front-camera/

    Thanks, your video helped a ton. Mine seems to be flickering a bit. I understand it's not the best quality, but mine looks a little over exposed and a slight flicker. I'll contact zautomotive but if anyone has any thoughts I'm all ears.

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to be helpful. Mine does not flicker. Hopefully it’s just the connection or the camera which is easy to switch out. Good luck! 🍀👍. #JTRSPARTACUS

  • @oxdogoxSF

    Thanks for this! The Zautomotive instructions are not the best so I used your video all the way through. I routed the wires in the dash a little differently, but it worked out just fine. How is that new mount? I just got my cam last week but its the original mount and a little buggy. I notched the grill a little to force the mount in but I'm sure it will pop out at the wrong moment. I also wish it was more of a wide angle so I could see all of the bumper but hey It's still a great to be able to see down in front of the hood.
    What did you do with the wiring around the headlights? My connection is right on top of the driver headlight and I'm a little concerned about the heat.

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad this was helpful. This is definitely A WAY to do this but necessarily THE WAY. The JT camera bracket seems to be pretty good so far. I just pushed it in and it stayed. I zip tied the wiring to the inside of the front of the grill and then to the plastic piece on the top o the grill. Seems like it should be ok. 👌 with the headlights. Thanks for watching!!

    Okay pin 21 & 22 is for the cargo camera. Does anyone know what pins are for the forward facing camera?

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The head unit interprets it as a cargo camera with the Tazer. It will show a camera on the back of a truck on the display. When I select that I see out the front.

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fast forward to 10:45 to see how the Tazer makes the 8.4 head unit display the choices. Good luck! #JTRSPARTACUS

    • @Appalachia02
      @Appalachia02 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @JTR Spartacus yes I had the same selection on my JScan . When I was setting up my new 8.4 radio I was able to turn on the forward facing camera. So I think there must be an addition input.

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Appalachia02 not sure. Turning on the forward facing camera in Tazer is the same thing as enabling this cargo cam feature. As far as I can tell with Tazer there are only 2 inputs available in the head unit. The factory forward facing camera uses and entirely different and very costly and complicated connection. Good luck.

    I saw your camera and mine does not look so good like your. The camera looks flickery and not perfectly center. Try to play with the housing but is the camera lenses.

    • @JTRSpartacus
      @JTRSpartacus  ปีที่แล้ว

      You might have a bent pin in the connection harness or the RCA Jack on the camera may not be completely seated. I electrical taped this to keep it tight. If those are ok - you might have a bad camera. Getting it straight is really a two person job. It’s tough to do by yourself because you may accidentally move it without realizing. Good luck! #JTRSPARTACUS

      I find the quality just ok for the camera. I like that it came with the kit. It does the job. No where near as good as the HD factory trail camera. You can change out the camera with this setup if you can make the new camera work with the bracket or change the bracket. Still won’t be HD quality but might be better. Good luck.
