- The Hardcore Minecraft Survival Guide continues! Now in the Caves & Cliffs Update Part 1, this tutorial will show you how to get full diamond tools and armour without spending your early game diamonds. We also craft the new 1.17 spyglass, and explain some early mechanics of copper blocks and tinted glass!
This series is an 'advanced' version of the Minecraft Survival Guide, with the aim of teaching you how to master Hardcore Mode. This will also be my Single Player Minecraft Let's Play series until the Survival Guide restarts in 1.18 for Part 2 of the Caves & Cliffs Update!

12:50 those kind of blacksmith houses also has a dark attic where mobs can spawn!
I just dug out a huge basement searching for the skeletons and zombies before i found the attic very annoying lol
Absolutely love how fast you make progress, it catters to my way of playing. I always "cringe" a little when the people I watch bother to make wooden tools and not just go straight to stone & iron once they acquired a temporary wooden pick.

@@DSVlad You could make a backup world. When I was in cave I almost died, so I quickly paused the game and made the backup of the world.

I've hit a really hard crash with Minecraft, and without any reason to play I've not done much for over half a year now. Watching your vids is reminding me of both how fun the early game can be, as well as showing off some features that really change the pace and progression of the game in a way I quite like. Thank you again, your content is always a delight as I'm trying to drown myself in tea in the mornings ^^
In my opinion, the best villager trade is the fisherman boat-for-emerald trade. It only costs 5 wooden planks, as opposed to the 16 needed for a non-affected stick trade. The only downsides are that they aren't stackable.
errr stone mason? because strip mining with silk touch gets you lots of stone
Aslkjd asdf That wouldn't really be useful in the early game, as you are probably not going to have a silk touch pick, but once you do then yes, it is also a viable option for emeralds.

I don’t know why no one is talking about this but the first thing I did when I got copper was put it in water and it aged like 100x faster than the copper that was just outside... pix just put it in water lol

@@desertrose0601 seriously? I honestly thought it was part of the update haha! I just always knew that coper patinas/ages faster in water so I placed 2 blocks in the ocean by my base right next to each other and then I placed 5 next to each other outside and it aged way slower than the ones in the water, I also put 4 copper stairs in a circle,and put a pufferfish in the middle (I waterlogged the stairs pretty much) and those aged faster... either I’m crazy or It’s part of the update haha

Pixlriff. Get blast protection on your leggings as that is the part most vulnerable to blast damage. That way the protection maxes out and also u get blast prot.

I also love the dripstone for early iron and copper gathering, using it to dupe up lava into cauldrons for smelting and saving the coal for torches and trades has been amazing

Been a fan for a long time and I'm loving this new faster-paced series. I'd like to point out that the damage reduction cap for enchantments is 80%, full prot IV is 64%. With 3 prot 4 and one other (fire, proj, blast) prot IV enchant, you'll reach the cap of 80%. It takes full protection V (impossible in survival) to reach the cap with normal prot, so unless you're worried about one type of damage (and I know you're quite capable of dealing with them) normal prot IV is usually the best choice.

The tinted glass is a game changer, because now you can block off light from your spawners in your mob farms while maintaining perfect view on the inner working of the spawning chamber AND keeping your collection area safe and spawnproof. Pretty cool if you ask me. Using redstone lamps you can also disable and enable the spawner with just a lever :D

There is a maximum of 16 armor points for each damage category including fire damage projectile damage and blast damage, the protection for enchantment on one piece of armor puts four points into each category. With full protection four armor you will only have 16 points in each category which is under the limit of 20. The specialized protection enchantment put 8 points into their respective category.
I remember joining your survival guide series around episode 20. It's what got me back into Minecraft, and now with the update, I'm following once again and have started a hardcore world (which is really scary as an enderman nearly ended me this afternoon). All your series are truly inspiring, thank you for what you do :)

I always wanted to play a hardcore world but I don't have a powerful enough PC to run Minecraft on any version higher than 1.5.2, and I feel like I am playing when I watch you, and this series made my past couple days feel more... fulfilling? I need a time machine into like a month from now so I can binge watch more episodes. 😂 Absolutely killer content, man. Really enjoying every episode. The pacing is great.
Tip: dont put the copper blocks together and put them on groups based on oxydation, But you need to put them on a square grid put a copper block every 4 blocks
14:27 Minor correction here. The protection cap is 20. Prot IV provides 4 per piece, so if you have it in all four pieces that's 16. The only thing to consider is that if you want to specialize in a specific prot type (projetile, blast or fire), those provide 8 per piece and also feed from general protection, so with three Prot IV pieces and one (i.e.) Fire Prot IV piece, you are left with 12 general protection and 20 (12+8) fire protection, reaching the cap for that one but slightly more vulnerable to melee, projetile and blast damage.
Pix, if u plan on turning that zombie spawner into a rotten flesh farm(which ik u will:)) try and get the bubble elevator and the dropoff part of the thing to blend in with the hill it is in. That will cover it and there will be no clue of a dirty, out of the blues tower hanging there. Also make sure to light up that hill and the surroundings else one of PythonMC's siblings will break the structure xD
I was just thinking how funny it would be if, standing on F5 mode, he would go waving his sword to say "bye for now" and accidentally hit that iron golen... it would have been a short Hardcore guide.
After rerolling enchantments so much to get some GOOD one, I ran out of Lapis lazuli! Had to to trade to villagers for this stuff!
IMO best way is to get librarians and get & combine the books and finally combine it to the gears! It's less troublesome this way. Also, Pixlriffs, you could make that simple or "peaceful" iron farm that doesn't require any zombies to start to gather more iron.

Hello Pixlriffs!!! Just wanted to say that it is great to see a new Survival Guide and in Hard Core is even better!!! I am playing along with you on this one as well and I just wanted to pass along some info about another very close spawner near the village. It is not as exposed to the surface as the one in the 1st episode, however, it is very close... X:201 Y:63 Z:559 I found another zombie spawner while exploring for more ores... Not sure if you want to do anything with but I thought I would pass it along... Enjoying the episodes and look for them everyday!!!
I think you should put fire protection on your helmet, the worst thing is that you fall in the lava in the nether while bridging or something and very dangerous. Blast protection isn't going to be much useful unless you are dealing with creeper or blowing up beds in the nether. For creeper, just use a shield, for bed, just put a block in front of you. Projectile protection only works with projectile, and they can all be blocked with a shield. So I think that fire protection is they way to go. Just a suggestion or you could just go with protection on your helmet since you are going to be ditching your chestplate for elytra later on in the series.

Btw if ur still hearing zombies around the buildings check the roofs. Some structures in plains villages have dark pockets underneath the roof. Keep up the good work

Full protection is overall better if you're not doing a specific adventure. Minecraft protection enchantments work via a percentage damage reduction, with the maximum amount of damage reduction being capped at 80%
Protection 4 gives a static 16% reduction in damage, regardless of what armor piece it's on.
Projectile/blast/fire protection 4 gives a static 32% reduction to their respective damages, also regardless of what armor piece it's on.
So a full set of protection IV armor is 16% + 16% + 16% +16% = 64% all-round damage protection, which doesn't reach the damage reduction cap of 80%
Now let's swap one of the protection 4 pieces with Fire protection 4
Now, we have 16% + 16% + 16% = 48% all-round damage reduction, that includes fire damage reduction. If you add the 32% fire damage reduction on top of that, 48% + 32% = 80%, that's the perfect 80% cap you're looking for: you basically sacrifice 16% allround protection for 16% extra fire protection.
If you enchant a full armor set (4 pieces) with fire protection, that means you get 32% + 32% + 32% + 32% = 128% fire damage reduction, which is WELL over the damage reduction cap of 80%. And it makes you vulnerable to other threats such as blasts or standard mobs. Like so pixl can see this.

The original survival guide was the one which give me all the knowledge of minecraft and in my eyes that was the best tutorial
On the question of whether to accept a Silk Touch or Infinity enchantment, I would most often take Silk Touch. Getting arrows is not really a problem with Fletchers nearby, and the Infinity enchantment is more critical later on in boss fights. Silk Touch on the other hand is a vital inventory management tool. Fortune III is going to fill up your inventory in a hurry; Silk Touch fills the inventory much more slowly. I prefer to use Silk Touch when mining and reserve Fortune III for when I return to my base where inventory space is not going to be a problem.
If you want fully aged copper, you could use them as part of scumpasses while navigating either the overworld, or the nether.

i think the E-ray strategy used in 1.16 speedruns can be used for survival too, to locate bastions, end cities, and even to make a calculated guess on where a fortress might be (depending on where there isnt a bastion), and if you have the spyglass+zoom you can even use it more effictively than speedrunners. i personaly would love seeing you check it out

I was playing with pix using his seed and going on,he told he live-streamed a caving mine.So I went caving and found a ravine.I went down a creeper hissed.I quickly turned back and blocked with my shield.I’m so proud of myself :))
Black Smith buildings can spawn hostile mobs inside the roof, since the roof is a 2 block high pitch black box. I believe spiders can also spawn inside the wooden roof as well as the taller mobs.
Good job pix! I have started following this guide and did the same, brought the workstations to the well and traded to the Fletcher and the farmer, and some others too, I never used to deal with villagers but now I've started doing it 😁😁😁😊😀
