After linking a compass to a loadstone rename it in an anvil so you can easily tell the difference if you have multiple compasses linked to different loadstones.
That's an excellent hint thanks. I was wondering how that would work.
Yes! This is my only hope when I accidentally bring my Nether compass back to the overworld with me 😝 (also bc I have like 4 overworld lodestone compasses 😂)
Yep. I always do this. I really don't like navigating in Minecraft and a lodestone with a named compass helps a lot. It's way better than constantly watching the cords.
Being overly fearful of the nether, I was never aware there were magma cube spawners in the treasure bastions. I’ve also never messed with loadstones… which are a very immersive way to find your way around.
Thanks for yet another educational video!!
Not gonna lie, Minecraft has become education!!
You get used to it, i'm still scared of it to this day. My brother on the other hand pretty much lives there. I think you'll find amazing stuff like this if you just go for it.
@@kavinkishorex-bi9477 ye for a lot of things
@@constantkagne6508 I’ve been playing since before the nether was even introduced, and I still can’t deal with it.
I finally got good enough to deal with Overworld mobs just for them to change it up again. The new caves give me so much anxiety. Lol
@@constantkagne6508 yep definitely bastion is built for loot and danger.
The first bastion I raided was this kind. I got lucky because all the brutes got stuck in holes beneath me due to being in the open. I had a good sword and just stood above the holes and killed them without taking damage. Got the netherite ingot and destroyed the spawner because I didn't know you could make a potion with magma cream. I was still very green. I experimented with 4 lodestones the other day, renamed each compass and now have easy ways to fly to my mooshroom, ice spikes, badlands and a distant floating bit of land in another direction. I've built so much and get to go back to my main base all in a day's travel. Late game is truly fantasy play. Love it.
Combine enchantments on diamond gear before upgrading to netherite, you could have added Sharpness V to it. Kill at least 1 piglin brute for the advancement, then lava the rest. And you may want to add protection IV to your boots. With elytra, you only have 2 pieces with protection now, which is 50%; and 1 piece of fire resist, which is 1/3rd of max.
Ok
Really good points, I like to add special protection on chest pieces, because when I put on my elytra I still have 3/4 protection.
You can use the magma cube spawner's to farm frog lights when 1.19 comes out
Not sure if those are going to be slimes or not though. Be nice if it were both, but slime farms will be much more productive than a spawner can. Remember, it is where the frogs are hatched that determines which type of frogs and froglights are produced, not if they eat slimes or magma.
You can filter the larger magma cubes with floating candles and break them down with powdered snow and after kill them with an army of frogs A few blocks beneath the candles. With 1-4 large magma cubes per spawn on bedrock at least you can see how this starts to become faster than a slime farm. Cheap easy and fast all you need is a few beehives, powdered snow, frogs and hopers. But exited to see how crazy fast you could make it with a slime farm on java (if they ever add that)
@@_Abjuranax_ Not sure what you are trying to say there, but frogs eating small magma cubes DOES produce Frog Lights. Frogs eating small slimes only produce slime balls.
You are right where the frog is born determines what frog light is produced, but they are not given upon the birth of the frog.
I just found a Treasure Bastion myself and intend on making a Frog Light farm by bringing in frogs from different biomes to eat small magma cubes.
@@shenko_ I was hoping that Frogs could eat both for Frog Lights, but it looks like Slime Balls will only feed and breed them. I was hoping to convert my Slime Farm over to Frog light production, but that was early on. At least the Frogs will have plenty eat, lol.
I looted a bridge bastion with my friends and we got pigstep, a couple diamond spoons, two lodestones, and I think my friend found an ancient debris
Also GG on a full stack of episodes!! Loved every single one :D
I’m not sure if you noticed, but there are at least four more chests in the Treasure Room Bastion. If you go to the higher floors in the main treasure room area you will find an entrance to a bridge platform leading to another building. This building contains (to my knowledge) four more chests in it. Two at the top in opposite ends of the building, and two at the bottom in opposite ends. These chests have very similar loot tables as the chests in the main structure, so I suggest checking it out.
I think there is also a higher chance of finding Pigstep in those extra four chests compared to other chests in other bastions. Maybe you could search in the chests next episode?
Also, be wary of the second building, because piglin brutes have a lot easier time to get to you because of the cramped stairwells leading to the top and bottom chests. You might have to break around the building to find them, but I’m certain they’re there.
Edit: Sorry if I sounded rude. I just realized I sounded a little bit like a snob in the comment.
A full stack of episodes! I remember once exploring a world in creative with mob spawning turned off, the magma cubes startled me so much before I noticed the spawner!
14:41-14:54 I must have found a very rare instance then. I found a nether fortress generated THROUGH a bastion (and it was a treasure one too :) ). Seed: 2875808187026254678 (I was playing in large biomes but I checked and it is the same in a default world), overworld ruined portal: -270/70/-2290, Nether coords of portal: -30/74/-290 brings you out right next to the fortress and you will shortly see where it intersects right into the centre of the bastion.
Nice one. Thanks for sharing.
I have a bridge bastion right outside my nether portal that I haven’t gone in yet, good to know where to look for loot now! Thanks Pix and great video! 😊
Good stuff only just discovered your channel recently, i subbed on first vid i watched, i love how you explain every step and leave no detail ive played MC for so many years but learn so much from you 😀
Same! This guy is awesome
I’m loving this series! I love the way you explain things in each episode. I built your sugar cane farm in my MCPE world. About to build a similar one for bamboo so I can get enough scaffolding for a mob spawner. Thank you Pix!
Hopper under the chests in bastions to avoid aggro. I'm sure you know this already, but viewers may not.
Explained that in my first episode about Bastions, and it isn't always possible because gilded blackstone generates under the chests.
Honestly I find it much more straightforward to block Piglin line-of-sight than to bring hoppers with me every time I raid a bastion.
Pixl!!! I follow you channel since the first season (not the very start, but anyways) and always get lost, cause I’m terrible with numbers. But the lodestone thing! This will save my game play!!! Oh, I feel like playing Minecraft again, knowing I have a understandable way to navigate!!! Tysm, Pixl 🥺
Something I always do when I use a lodestone is name the compass the location where I put it (example: if I put it in my spawn base I’d name it spawn base) so I don’t confuse them. I also store them in item frames so I can easily grab one and go. Plus I like them as decorations
Ty for another great episode. My first netherite ingot is always for a loadstone right next to my 'home' portal, renamed nether compass, because with my horrible sense of direction it reassures me that I won't get lost anymore and gives me confidence to wander further afield, haha 😅😅
Congrats Pix You just completed a full stack of episode!🎉
underrated
What underrated
@@S.kproductions6323 your comment is underrated and so is pix's channel
congrats on a stack of episodes
It's very cool that the compass in the tool bar also points to Spawn or its lodestone, you don't have to equip it to see where you're going so you can fly with fireworks and a Totem to scary places
@27:09 "Ladies and Gentlemen and everyone in-between" this made my day 😭😍 thank you from a new spawn chunk patron! 👍
Pix San, loved to watch the hc recap after a long time
*Let me announce* " LAVA BUCKETS as the player of the episode" it makes tasks very easy in handling such 25 hearted piglin brutes.
I've been waiting for soo long yay
25:05 Ah, yes, the floor here is made out of wall
I was always extremely scared of the nether before my current playthrough, which I’ve basically mastered the nether in. I have fire res and slow falling to explore through the nether and have gotten every rare loot possible. I raided a treasure bastion stealthfully since I had only iron armor. I killed all the brutes with a crossbow I found at another bastion and looted the chests getting 2 enchanted golden apples and 2 upgraders. Also found pigstep and some netherrite so it was extremely successful. I’m about to get my first full netherite gear.
Hi Pix!! Loved the first episode of the Hermitcraft Recap, great job to the team! Nonetheless the survival guide will always be my favorite way to start the day :DD Glad you're making progress in the nether achievements
I use these for navigating my world of 6 years. The one think I have learned is that you need to make backup compasses for each loadstone! I cant tell you how many times I have died and lost my compass and had to go find the loadstone and rebind it again....
Fantastic series. Keep em Comin
I've been playing minecraft for what seems like forever but I never knew that was a boar's head statue. Always wondered why the bone blocks were there
I'm a HOARDER!
A little in real-life.. . .though I prefer the term "pack-rat". & A LOT in video games! (like Minecraft)
As soon as I have shulker boxes (& an ender chest) I leave NOTHING behind!
Find a chest? Pull out the axe & pick up EVERYTHING! (including the "kitchen sink"/ chest) And throw it all into the shulker box!
I'm not NEARLY as discriminating in my treasure selection as Pixlriffs. lol
6:00 That bridge chest always contains a lodestone, at least on Java.
same on bedrock too
Bastions are like woodland mansions in the nether cause they contain a lot of loot but are guarded by strong mobs
Axe-wielding mobs too! Although I find looting a Bastion way more rewarding, because I rarely find worthwhile loot in woodland mansions.
You should've combined the sharpness V sword with your own before upgrading to netherite
Yup, I noticed that too.
He did the same thing with his bow, I find it incredibly disturbing
Omg i havent watched in sooo long and just realized your alr at ep 64 time flies
with bridge bastions, much like housing and stables bastions, there are two sections commonly referred to as the "upper ramparts" i.e places with lots of piglins, and guaranteed at least one chest. In Stables the number of chests in an upper rampart (where a double chest is counted as 2 chests) can be 1 2 or 3 chests total, while in Housing the right upper rampart will always have 3 chests, and the left rampart can either have 0 1 or 3 chests total.
Bridge is in fact similar to housing and stables (and this is the reason why I made this comment, as Pix has accidentally misinformed folks earlier in this video presumably because he'd had a run of bad luck with bridge bastions until later in the video) in that there's upper ramparts to the left & right of the main bridge section (with all the lava & the golden statue called the "chalice") and each rampart can either have 1 or 3 chests. In between these two upper ramparts (i.e directly above the bridge section) is where you'll find a chest with a 100% chance of having a lodestone.
Something also worth mentioning about the housing units in housing (a.k.a the bottom section which is heavily ruined). Looking down at the central island of netherwart and a chest, orient yourself so that the rightmost strip of soulsand is the longest strip/column, and head that direction - you will find the various entrances to the upper ramparts (if you get easily lost) and if you imagine the y-elevation of the soulsand island is on the ground floor, on the first floor up from that you'll find a double chest 100% of the time, and digging into the wall past the double chest will lead you to the lower rampart room with most of the gold blocks for housing.
There are other single chests scattered around the lower section of housing & stables, but giving a verbal description of where these chests are doesn't really work when it's very much a visual learning moment. For some good breakdowns of bastions that are detailed but not overly so, I'd recommend K4yfour's How to Speedrun Bastions miniseries: th-cam.com/video/Dts81nEnzuQ/w-d-xo.html
Both the upper ramparts of the treasure bastion contain 2 chests and gold blocks spread out, while (as aptly demonstrated by Pix) the lower rampart (in this case the massive cube room) has a pile of gold blocks (as well as 1-2 chests) down by lava level, and the chance for individual chests to spawn around the cube room wall-corridors. The easiest ones to identify are if when you're standing amongst the pile of gold blocks, look straight ahead & spin around. 75% of the time the lanterns on chains that light the lowermost wall walkways on the bottom floor will be on short chains, but 25% of the time they will be attached to long chains, which indicates that there is a chest on that side of the cube, specifically on that bottom floor. There is also chances for other chests to generate, but like with housing and stables lower ramparts, it's not quite so easy to describe in text form, so check out K4yfour's bastion miniseries :)
I've been away for a week, so it's nice to return to some lovely survival guide episodes to look forward to :D
You can use powdered snow underneath the magma spawner to cut down on the magma cubes (but the buckets are unstackable)
Bro this has been the longest 4 days of my life waiting for this episode
There are also gold block patches hidden under chiseled blackstone bricks found in Bastions, and you can also find some gold blocks on the top of housing unit bastions.
You can loot bastion chests by placing a hopper under it. I think you can make it faster by placing a hopper minecart (or two) under the chest. Anyways, awesome video and very helpful, because bastions is one of the most challanging structures to raid in the game and people need many tips to do it efficeintly. Absolutely enjoyed it!❤️
I’m on the hunt for an enchanted apple… about to go Bastion hunting for one (I’m trying to finish all the MCPE achievements 😅)
This episode was exactly full of info and tips I definitely need, thank you!
While Pixilriffs has briefly mentioned the Smite enchantment in the past I think with the netherite upgrading he did in this episode it's as good a time as any to mention this little life hack:
A netherite sword enchanted with Smite V will instantly kill all undead mobs (except a particular boss mob which I'll let pixilriffs cover, the unreleased warden and zoglins which are uncommon to run into unless you are careless with your nether portals but will still only take 2 hits) that are not wearing armor (zombies and all the variants, skeletons, wither skeletons, and more satisfyingly phantoms). While also at the same time maintaining the ability to kill all except the healthier mobs like piglin brutes and endermen in two hits as long as you do a crit attack (which is when you jump and hit the mob while you are falling) one of 2 times since the base damage of a netherite sword is 8 and doing a critical strike with a netherite sword does 12 you get 20 damage which is enough to kill all the basic hostile mobs in the game like spiders creepers and angry piglins. So if you are consider upgrading your weapon think about swapping to a smite sword when it is time to upgrade to netherite and watch the hordes of the undead collapse before your might!
When i first started my world i was rushing to complete it so in my day 3 i made a nether portal and got spawned right next to a treasure bastion and got my first netherite ingot with no diamond stuff to use it on so i used it on a lodestone since im terrible wuth coordinates🤣
I think with your advice I might attempt to raid the treasure room of a bastion I've been putting off in my world out of fear... a very useful episode.
I totally forgot about the loadstone being available in bastions and just made my own a few hours ago 😅
So if you can, place a load stone every 2000 blocks in X, Z direction of your world you won't get lost, as long as you have a compass. But I see the better appeal of using it in the nether, on top of the portals, because it's easier to get lost in the nether.
Just found your world, super cool build in the cave it looks amazing I can't wait to see how the already amazing builds continue to evolve! liked & subbed keep em coming :D
I tend to snipe all the piglins w/ a max enchant infinity bow. usually start at the ramparts, then move to the other section. when in the treasure room cube, I snipe from above, cuz then the piglins tend to all aggro on me and fall onto the bridge that the magma cube spawner is attached to. then i can lightly shoot an arrow, and the punch enchant knocks the piglins into the lava.
"Country lode, take me home, to the place I belong, Spawn Chunks"
Me: watching every episode of Pix covering bastions before i go into one....😵💫
Pix: it will be more fun in a bastion 😅
great video, some really useful info here, thank you pixlriffs!
the magma cube spawner is also good for *SPOILERS* (if you care about them)
the future froglights :)
Mojang had every chance to make an advancement called “Swiper, no swiping!” for getting loot from a Bastion.
Minor point... but I wanted to say I like this transition 6:13 - Most minecraft vids just cut.
Wouldn’t it be easier to make a nether-roof magma farm in a basalt delta? Never seen it done that way before, excited to see a tutorial!
33:27 you should have first combined the sword with the new sharp 5 sword you got and then turned it to netherite tbh cuz your sword's still sharp 4
It’s cheaper just to upgrade it with a sharpness IV book
@@dtslawyer6970 So what do you do with another Sharpness V Sword?

The magma cube spawned is perfect for a frog light farm in 1.19
Another great episode. I'd just have taken that soulspeed I book. You had a II already, any other book you'd find or trade would guarantee soulspeed III.
Cheers
The treasure bastion gave me nightmares. Very intertaining episode. Btw, it is wasteful if u use netherite on shovels.
Ehh. I’d rather have the tool be immune to fire and lava along with the additional durability. Plus it doesn’t really matter as there’s plenty of netherite to go around.
Don't forget netherite hoes, lol.
Hey Pixlriffs! I hope your having an amazing day. Your videos are what really got me into Minecraft and I appreciate everything you do on TH-cam. I don’t know a lot about the game but I still have a lot of fun with it. I have a question. Why don’t you take the spectral arrows from the chests? I have noticed that you take some but why don’t you take all of them? Aren’t they valuable?
Practically, they don’t have much use and are relatively easy to make only costing glowstone. Plus, Pix uses infinity which doesn’t work with those arrows
@@dtslawyer6970 Thank you man. I appreciate it.
Spectral arrows don't work with infinity, so they'll eventually run out if I take them and use them. They can be bartered from piglins, so you can get as many as you want just by throwing them a bunch of gold ingots. As loot goes, they're neat but they feel like filler items compared to some of the more unique items.
@@Pixlriffs I’m literally about to cry omg. Thank you my friend. You are amazing. I’m so happy right now, that made my day. Keep doing what your doing. I’m very proud of you and everything you have done over the past year and a half on TH-cam.
Woah your luck is shining today 🥳 nice video
Pixlriffs: I want to make a farm out of this spawner for magma cream.
Me: Yeah right. He just wants it for froglights in the future.
A stack of episodes
I cannot like this episode enough
Blocks and blocks of gooooold....
If wool can block noose for deep dark stuff, can it block the block breaking noise that agros pigs?
Oh, that's not a thing currently, but it might be an interesting mechanic for 1.19! I think their senses are a little more attuned to chests and stuff than Wardens' senses are attuned to surroundings, though, so not sure if it would work...
Otherside is my favourite cd till now , i have find in minecraft
The uneasy alliance is a little tough one
Make a video that tells how to repair all items and best enchantment to get
If you want to see another use for Lodestones, go watch TangoTek's videos about Decked Out in season 7 of Hermitcraft. They were a critical component of that amazing game.
Is it possible to name a compass using an Anvil to reflect the lodestone it's pointing to?
Sure is!
we now have a full stack of season 2 videos
some bridge bastions do have a room that has a double chest and another singular chest next to it it's just rare to find it made that way the only reason i knew this was because i did a minecraft world were i had to start in the nether and the only way for me to get arrows in the nether was raiding bastions and fighting skeletons....
We now officially have a stack of survival guide episodes.
Is there a way of de-attuning a lodestone compass completely, making it function like a normal compass again? Or is it just stuck like that forever? This is mostly a question out of curiosity.
my first bastion ever was a treasure bastion...made it to the bottom and forgot about the magma spawner....was knocked into lava but luckily had a fire resist and looted the chests from in the lava under the platform....then swam down and dug my way out....told my self i dont think it was worth it.....i can get more netherite form mining was a very stressful way to get supplies
Hey pix do u know that there is another loot area where the pigstep disc is? In treasure bastion
A new day, a new video.
HET PIX, pls do a guide of redstone, like all the basics and simple but useful contraptions, AND THE DAMN COMPARATERS(jk lmao, but pls do)
Nice video. Bout’ to raid a bastion my self
Yes Pixilriffs, we already know about lava bucket trick but we would like to se experirnced player as yourself to fight piglin brute from time to time you know... I personally never use lava buckets on brutes, I have my bow and sword for that.
The problem with attacking the brutes head-on is that it gets other piglins in the area mad at you, brutes' axes can disable shields, and at this point I didn't have any backup Elytra - so if I died, there wasn't an easy way to return to the bastion and get my equipment back.
@@Pixlriffs ofcourse i understand that, you don't have to charge it like crazy berserker but at least shot it with a bow from a distance. Anything would be better than hearing "i pour bucket of lava on him" 10 times in a row lol
Sorry for my english lol
Brains fried so I don't have any tips or ideas today, but here's one for the algorithm.
Only bastion i came by so far was that big one, treasure bastion and i got two netherite scraps from it, it was completely accidentally that i found it and i dont mind that i found it lol
The piglins sure need some help
27:07 "And that, ladies and gentlement and everyone in between..."
Thank you for that. I am a "gentleman" but it's always nice to be inclusive. I like hearing people's spin on the classic "ladies and gentlemen" too.
If 2 compasses point the same lodestone, are they stackable ?
I'm not sue. I also don't know if you can disenchant them on a grindstone. I do know that you can put curse of vanishing on them to flex with.
that geode has- a lot of clusters
You Should've combined the sharpness V Diamond Sword with your main sword first, before making it netherite sword 🙂
Cheaper to just upgrade it with a sharpness IV book! Combining two swords adds to the level cost of upgrading the sword in an anvil.
@@Pixlriffs Pretty sure that also happens when you combine it with a book, although it may still be cheaper overall
@@JustinTimeCuber Adding books onto items is typically cheaper than combining items of the same type, even if the book has the same enchantments and number of prior anvil operations as the second item. You can find a break-down of the level costs on the Minecraft Wiki under Anvil Mechanics.
@@Pixlriffs I guess just make the other sword into a flame sword, or sans if you already have one.
33:29 why didnt u combine the sharpness 5 book ??
Mr Riffs , I have a doubt . Can we make a mob spawner with the magma cube spawner in piglin bastion
l’m not exactly sure what you mean by mob spawner, but if you mean spawner farm, yeah? It works like any other spawner, you just have ti account for the fact that this time it’s magma cubes
Yep. Just be sure to clear the lava first, lol.
If you cover the spawner with solid blocks so none of the spawner is exposed does it stop mobs from spawning?
You'd have to cover a.... I want to say 9x9xsomething area around the spawner with solid blocks. Line of sight doesn't matter, only that there is spawnable space at all somewhere in that radius. And spawners can spawn stuff in midair so removing blocks doesn't help either.
You need to build a frog light farm /magma cream farm , I use a golem trapped with trap doors
Another good reason to domesticate the magma cube spawner! Froglights will be super fun when they arrive in Java Edition with 1.19.
