What I like about this is that they're actually *adapting* the comic, not just doing what Wanted, V for Vendetta and The Boys do in taking the name and chucking everything else.
@@BrianFlyingPenguin yeah, i think one reason why is because it is animated. It is more flexible. Even though some things are being changed in the show, they are still following the some key points in the comics
@@BrianFlyingPenguin tbf, the boys works better as a tv series than as a comic. The direction they went out n for The Boys worked out a lot better than in the comics
If there's a videogame based on this, I'll bet that this outfit would be installed in the outfits menu.

To be fair there was more to this conversation in the comic book. See they removed almost all of the references to the comics that this was referring too. This orange and yellow outfit was a reference to superman because art there thought omni man's powers were solar based. That's why the circles on the suit protrude out as they collected solar energy. Turned out useless to omni man so art simply had them sit there. A hero down the road picks this as his suite funily enough he doesn't get power from the sun either. He just thought it looked badass. It kind of does. So I'd pick it.

Dude watching this scene after seeing the final really breaks my heart, you can see how Mark really sees his dad as his hero, and that Nolan actually shows that he cares and loves his son greatly despite what he keeps trying to say to himself saying how he only cares for Viltram

I really love how in the first episode there are a lot of subtle signs to clue you in on just how badly Nolan is struggling with his duty to the empire vs his love for his kid. On a rewatch, you can tell he's dreading Mark coming into his own not because he's worried that his kid isn't ready for the superhero biz but because that means that he has to make a decision between his people and his family. In fact I think Nolan doesn't make up his mind until this very scene (around 2:18) to kill the guardians and start his betrayal, entirely because Mark told him that he wants to become just like him.
One of the major themes of the show is struggling with your identity, and I like how the theme is very spelled out and overt with Mark's character arc but more implied through subtle reactions with Nolan's arc.
It's so cute how much Mark wants his dad's approval, even if he didn't like the costume he would say yes if Nolan did

Nolan's duality is amazing to watch because I legit believe he isn't faking at all of these earnest moments or when he's distraught that Mark ask him to hit him. His every moment he is at odds with the beliefs he still holds and the implosion in the season finale is done so well.

The first 3 episodes of *Invincible* were *EPIC!* I can't wait for the next episode!

Love the actor choices
I actually like that makeshift suit he is wearing. Looks nice and down to earth while also having a colourpallet that matches really well.

Omni-man is the classic superman riff with a twist. He's a sociopathic Smallville persona, that will probably get all Shakespearen and pit father against son. It already looks like they're adapting some of the most amazing character archs
But he's not truly sociopathic he clearly has formed bonds of friendship and he loves his son at the very least.

I think you're right, upon further analysis of his character he's clearly has an outside force acting on his character. He was breed to do a job, his story arc would be more like if Krypton survived and put pressure on Superman to brutally colonize Earth.

Knowing Omni mans real plans the part when Mark said "all I ever wanted to do what you do I want to be just like you " at that moment Omni man must have one of the most happy moments ever even though his face is not showing it.

When watching this again knowing the ending of episode 8, this scene hits different.
You can tell Nolan meant to say that Mark will become like him, but not the saviour of this earth. Instead, as an alliance to the Viltramites.
That last scene of episode 1 tho....😮, that's all I've got to say, I was suprised at how gory and awesome it was, it was such a twist too, it got me hooked on the first episode, I can't wait to watch more

Came here after season 2 because I noticed you see the newly introduced "bulletproof" and he is wearing the orange and yellow suit the tailor tries to pass off to mark (old merchandise). So it was either a sneaky teaser, or just a funny little callback. Either way its pretty cool. 😂

it's interesting that bulletproof has that suit of marks suit he tries on or at least the same design, which does give an interesting foreshadowing as well since bulletproof does temporarily become invincible in the comics when mark was off world for a while.

Bulletproof got robbed
Honestly, I wish there were more heros who had a "Scrappy" suit. Like Marks suit here. To me it just looks simple yet enough to be cool and memorable without being too cliche.
Kinda crazy seeing how humble and caring Omni Man is to his son at the beginning only for all of that to change in the end....

Even knowing what comes later, this is still a great scene. Mark is T totally human here. "I'm strong enough, Im ready, I wanna do what you do, I wanna be just like you." That took me back to my teenage years. My dad walks with a cane now. I'm scared that Im gonna get the call a lot sooner than I expect.

This is definitely my favourite scene in the show so far. The raw emotion as Mark is begging his father to hit him is so well done. Both Steven Yeun and J K Simons did such a great job voicing this scene. You can really hear the conflict in Omni man just through his simple answers. His Vilturmite way of thinking clashing with the feelings and new perspectives he's discovered through his time on earth and having a family. Even though this scene is used to contrast their eventual shattered relationship when the truth is revealed, you can really feel the love between father and son here. The love that ultimately saves Mark in the end. And when you think about it, also saves the world.

That guy made out of Rock reminds me a lot of the character "Brick" from Young Justice
He's a man with diamonds for skin completely immune to all forms of bullets and explosives
Never figured the Joker would ever retire, let alone make indestructible suits for superheroes.
This show caught me off guard. I didn’t think much of this series since I haven’t read the comics, but man am I looking forward to the rest of this season and hopefully future seasons to come. I’ll support this series till the end.
I think anyone who never read the comics was caught off guard, like they made the first episode seem so generic until the end.

@@Spaooky2177 It's not Generic, as the story does actually change a lot and progress. The story does have an ending and characters do take the more rational choice over the "hero" choice.
