  • There are two tombs of King David in Jerusalem. One is in a synagogue where Jews worship and tourists visit today. Hardly anyone even knows about the other tomb, which was found by an archaeologist excavating in the City of David. How did the discovery of this famous tomb come to be forgotten...again? And which tomb holds the evidence of authenticity?

    As a Jewish person who, on my mother's side via Rabbi Mordechai Jaffe, of Bohemia (Prague) descends all the way back to King David, I find this fascinating. I love when science backs up biblical history. We differ on the messiah being a human or a time of peace on earth, BUT, this is great stuff. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have been to Israel and many of the historical places, including The Sea of Galilee and Nazareth, etc. If things ever calm down in the world, I would love to go back with this information! Reformed Judaism doesn't teach this theory anymore. If so, there would be peace on Earth now (there isn't). But, that's what we believe... it's a time ..not a person. All of this was written down or inscribed by a "man" as well. I still find it all very interesting so, please don't take it personally. These are extremely interesting pieces. Thank you for sharing. It would take a lot more to make me a believer in a Messiah in human form (son of G*d in human form, etc.) .. but who knows? Maybe you'll convince me some day. Happy New Year. @@lampkin9287

    • @andyagnew1235
      @andyagnew1235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ready Player Two I'm not entirely sure we've read the same book. The bible is scientifically inaccurate. Desert dwelling goat herders writing about their "understanding" of how the world worked. They couldn't even get the creation story correct...plants before then sun? Come on, you know that's not how it works. A book that condones slavery. A god that hands out open ended warrants for genocides, the slaughter of men, women, and children. Over half of the bible was written by unknown authors. Prophecies written to be true AFTER they had already happened. The 4 gospels, (eye witness testimony no less!), completely contradict themselves, and also written by unknown authors. The bible contradicts itself throughout. An all knowing and all loving good puts a tree of knowledge in the garden and tells Adam and Eve not to eat from it KNOWING they will eat it, and then proceeds to get pissed about it. Haha! What an utter failure of a god. I think you should read your book again. Maybe also check some other religious history, and you'll see Christianity plagiarized a number of them.

    I can never understand secular archeologists who spend their lives trying to disprove the bible - would it be better for them to find something they truly feel passionate about - or it's just that non-believers are not passionate in general?

    • @f.arduini355
      @f.arduini355 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Secular archeologists have no interest in disproving the Bible. They are interested in doing good archeology. If it happens, on the way, to disprove the Bible, that's just a unintended consequence.
      They are deeply passionate about their work. They just don't have the religious agenda you do.

    • @adamodeo9320
      @adamodeo9320 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@f.arduini355 what comes to mind is Dr. Francesca Stavrakopoulou who set out to prove for the BBC that Kind David did not exist - she ignore many recent findings and concluded, with dramatic expressions worthy of any Mexican novella, that he must have been a minor king. many are like her who take extreme joy in disproving the bible. somehow she tried to connect that with Israel's right to be. I do find people like her suspect of having an agenda.

    • @f.arduini355
      @f.arduini355 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamodeo9320 You are confusing her conclusions with her intentions. If the BBC hired her for her expertise and perspective, that's not the same thing as her "setting out to prove" anything. She's actually already done the work.
      You also seem a bit unclear on what her conclusions are. For example, in your account... did she contend King David was "a minor king"? Or that he "did not exist"? Pick one... you can't have both.
      I also note that your original comment tried to portray secular archeologists as passionless. You now suggest they "take extreme joy in disproving the bible." You can't have both of those either.
      I suggest you are inappropriately projecting your own, intense emotional commitment to your religion on others. Just because their conclusions are inconvenient to your beliefs does not mean that their "agenda" is to be inconvenient to your beliefs.
      The pursuit of truth is an agenda in and of itself.

    • @adamodeo9320

      @@f.arduini355 you are confusing one's own passion for one's own endeavor with taking delight in disapproving another's beliefs. she set out to disprove King David's existence and compromised by declaring him a minor king. furthermore, nothing I find inconvenient in their "findings" as the recent discoveries, especially the mountain Ebal one, prove the bible's authenticity. personally, I never needed evidence.

      @@adamodeo9320 You wrote, “you are confusing one's own passion for one's own endeavor with taking delight in disapproving another's beliefs.”
      Your persistent projection is now bordering on the obtuse. Nobody is “taking delight in disapproving another's beliefs.” But all superior scholars take delight in doing good work. And she is a superior scholar.
      You must know very few (if any) archeologists if you believe that ANY of them do not have passion for their work. There is essentially no other reason anybody becomes a (real) archeologist. It’s not exactly a job that pays well or guarantees comfort in retirement.
      You wrote, “she set out to disprove King David's existence and compromised by declaring him a minor king.”
      There is no reason to believe any of that is true. She set out to learn the truth. Her conclusions were that David was a minor king. She was hired by the BBC to discuss those conclusions.
      You may be unhappy with her conclusions, and you have no obligation to accept it, personally. But your attribution of ill intent is petty and shameful.
      She is an excellent theologian with an impeccable reputation for scholarly rigor and integrity. She even actually has a real doctorate from a real, world class university… not a “Masters Degree” from a family run diploma mill.
      You wrote, “Her work furthermore, nothing I find inconvenient in their ‘findings’ as the recent discoveries, especially the mountain Ebal one, prove the bible's authenticity.”
      You don’t even really understand the Mount Ebal curse tablet. Do you? Because guess what… it does nothing to support the Bible’s authenticity.
      You wrote, “personally, I never needed evidence.”
      Methinks then, that thou dost protest too much.

    Thanks Joel. In Matt.27:51-54 it states "saw the earthquake and the things that happened" How could the centurion and others at the crucifixion see the tearing of the temple veil torn in two (one of the things that happened verse 51) if the crucifixion was at the location now called Golgotha? They would have to be east of the temple door and looking west to see the veil torn. The lambs of Passover were killed facing the temple entrance and Christ being killed east of the entrance would fit the symbolism perfectly. Just curious about your thoughts on these verses.
