Hey Ladies! If you can't physically get together for a walk, get on the phone together with Dawn outside walking and Diana on the treadmill walking. What a blessing that would be to talk with each other while walking! Just a thought.

Set your time parameter and stick with it. Even if your on there for 5 minutes and think man, I can go longer... set the habit first! Then after a predetermined amount of time of doing the 5 minutes (or whatever you choose), increase the duration at which you will do it each time, again don’t increase or decrease when going through these habit building functions. Maybe with some lovely plants or a window view. It would put such an important healthy activity more as a priority. Also, if the problem is not being able to walk in the cold winters it is just a gloomy to walk in a basement.

Dawn, I’ve watched so many of your videos, as I started following you almost 2 years ago, but somehow this one got by me. I feel like I just found a hidden gem! Lol! So many good points here: using post-it notes to remind yourself of a new habit you want to make. My counters are usually clear now (thanks to you) but if I want to start using a new thing, say a night cream, or a dry brush, I have to leave it out on my counter for about two weeks. Then when it’s a habit I can put it away and I’ll remember to use it. If something doesn’t click still, I know I can declutter it. Love how passionate you get about the targeted ads. You are the best, Dawn! Thank you!! Also, I really miss Sundays with Diana.

I have had my treadmill forever! I love it! I use it mostly in the winter and walk outside when it is warmer. When I trained for my marathon, I put motivational notes that my friends sent me all around it. Maybe you can put some motivational notes or Scriptures on your bathroom mirror and refrigerator. Also, maybe put your workout clothes on the bathroom floor the night before. Then maybe at first work out for maybe 15 minutes. I started running in my late 40s with 1/2 mile. The day before I turned 50, I ran the Honolulu Marathon for the Arthritis Foundation and raised $5000 for them. That is over 26 miles! Now I am 66 and in the best shape of my life. I outrun my 20 plus year old kids! It is awesome! You can do it, girl! And you have a great platform to motivate others! Win! Win!

I have the exact same conundrum with my Peloton bike. It was a big investment for me. Pre-pandemic I loved going to spin classes, So I figured a bike would be a great investment for home use.
I have heard of habit stacking, but the only ideas I had was watching shows and listening to audiobooks. Watching Instagram stories, or even TH-cam videos greatly expands my options!
I’m going to try the 7 day deadline. Before seeing this video I imagined I could put a six month deadline on using the Peloton, Insta Pot, or other expensive items I own, but when I heard SEVEN DAYS... That really put a fire under my butt!!!
Using food prep time to talk on the phone is also genius. What’s funny is none of these concepts are new to me - I read many books about habits. But when you ladies talk about these things and bring real examples and ideas from your own experiences it really drives the message home and expands my thinking.
Thank you so much for the useful content you create. You both are so encouraging and are a real gift in my life. I’ve had a very challenging year or and and I feel like you guys are angels sent to help and encourage me. 👼
    ❤️❤️❤️
I know more than a week has passed since this video aired and I’m curious to know how it went. No judgment in anyway if it did or did not. The self-forgiveness and season of life concepts are also so helpful. 😀

Changing habits is so hard. I have taken on positive self talk. After hearing Dawn saying to herself she is a tidy person. I began telling myself I am....& fill in blanks. I have 3 things I am focused on. I have written them down. I start & end each day repeating them. Throughout the day I find myself taking on steps that will help me accomplish my I am statement. It really does help. Thank you!

I read this title and it made me think of a topic that I’ve heard before that I really related too... which is more along the lines of “my fantasy lifestyle that I can envision in my very own utopia world” unrealistic thinking that has me day dreaming more than living in reality... ugh why is this so hard for me? I only found your channel a few weeks ago and I’m binging on your videos while I nurse my 3rd baby who is 2 months old. And it just keeps getting better!! Learning you’re a Christian, now seeing you’re doing the Bible Recap which I also just learned about and started this year! And we homeschool!
You’ve been a part of me seeing God calling me to be in the moment, and not being hindered by stuff is a huge part of that! I *love* finding someone who helps me focus on organizing my home with the same greater priorities I have. Even if I’ll never be a true minimalist I so appreciate the reminders that there’s a cost to everything we own.

I swear - your videos get stronger and stronger all the time! I’ve been watching and enjoying for about a year, but the “let’s talk this through“ approach you have taken recently - whether discussing with Diana, with one of your collaborators, or just with yourself (and all of us out here, by extension) - has proven SO helpful to me as I consider the same issues. Thank you, Dawn (and Diana!), for all you do! 😊♥️

After spending 2 months hearing a calling from God to “purge” my life and home, and a week deep diving into all your videos, I have spent the past few days making intentional choices about all of the laundry in our home, changing our system and spent the entire morning making intentional choices with my 4 children about their toys and books and games - we have so many donation bags that my van will have to make 2-3 trips to the thrift store to drop off! And I’m still going! It’s sooo freeing!

You ladies are a blessing and I do enjoy watching you Dawn talk about decluttering. It has motivated and I am finding I am decluttering a tad more and it is freeing and also I am trying to focus more on Heaven than on earthly things. I know that God has given us life and nothing wrong with enjoying it but our world makes us feel if we shop for a hobby and then we stop what do I do now. That is how shopping can take over us. So I am trying in 2021 to be more intentional about what I buy.

I don't often comment on TH-cam because I don't really expect my comments to be read, but I have to chime in here. I'm 41 and a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of 5 kids, ages 17-11. We live in North Idaho where the winters are similar to yours. My husband and I invested in a tread mill after my first pregnancy so that I could get exercise regardless of the weather or nap times. Since then, we've moved multiple times and had few places to put a treadmill. My husband has expressed his exasperation and desire to get rid of it many a day, but it still miraculously occupies a spot in our home. And, here's why...because the times I feel like I need to "walk it off" or start getting back into shape before spring and summer hit, I am SOOO grateful to have the option of walking WHENEVER the inspiration strikes. It helps me mentally process, breathe more deeply, and destress in ways I can't get otherwise. Trust me, this is an outlet you want around, especially if you plan to have more kids and be even more...home bound. I'm an avid culler and organizer but with this particular item, frequency does not justify its importance. The irreplaceable affect it can have on a mom's psyche to walk when-she-needs-to-get-away-but-can't is the reason to put up with its clunky awkwardness and seemingly waste of space. I will admit, there was a time I didn't use my treadmill for a couple years, but when I eventually did get back on it, I remember saying a prayer of thanks to God for still having a treadmill.

Dawn, I've been a silent watcher of your channel for months now. This is my first time commenting. I'm an attorney, mother of 2 who just started staying home last October. It's been an identity crisis at times, but your story (as a mom, minimalist, believer) is so relatable and I thank you. I always look forward to your Sunday episode with Diane because it's spiritually uplifting too! BUT! Of all of your videos, the one that has made the biggest difference in my life was the first one of this year where y'all talked about Bible recap. I'd never heard of it. TBH, I've never read the whole Bible before, so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm on day 18 now, so not finished yet, but it has been such a blessing. Spending this time with the Lord everyday has been helping to get my heart right for the day and helps me view my job as a mother & homemaker as something profoundly important. I'm rediscovering my identity in Christ. So, all of this to say thank you and Diane for sharing about it! God is working through you both. 🤗
