  • In this video I mount the 2006 BMW R1200GS Adventure and see how long it takes me to learn to static balance on the bike with the engine off. While I won't call it a complete win, I did make some good progress. I will keep practicing my adventure biking skills and make a follow-up static balance video on the R1200GSA.

I hope you know your videos are still inspiring a new adv rider. I got a 2005 r1200gs. It's cool to see some of the things possible with these big bikes

    Thanks for inspiration!!! 👍
I allways saw it on dirt bikes so I didn't consider it is possible on a big adventure.
Now I have record 10 min on Tenere 700. I do it with handlebars right or left and I'm curious if it is possible with handlebars straight.
I also started to train static balance and after 1 or 2 min to switch on the bike with key (so I have to let go left hand), to start the engine, to put 1 gear and get moving.

Well done, en in jou kortbroek. Will definitely try. My Aprilia Pegaso’s starter clutch failed. Now at least I have something to do while it’s not running.

Sorry about the starter! Hope you get it fixed easily. Yes, give this balance practice a try! I still have a long way to go but there is hope :)

@@GreaseAndGravel I immediateZly tried static balancing on my DR650. Got to the say, 3-4 seconds up. Find it strenuous on my 'match stick' legs and wow a cardiac workout of note. I suspect the following... if handle bars are twisted to the right then have right leg on peg and lift left leg up. And vice versa. Hoping to reach 1 minute by Sunday??? 🤔🤔 Then the AT challenge in the week.

@@kokkiematematika1931 Respect for trying it out immediately!! Well done! I will also keep practicing. For me, I saw no progress for 15min and then suddenly it 'clicked'. Then it was worse again. I suspect it will take a few hours of regular practice. Keep it up!

Yeah, without engine is definitely harder. But my neighbours would not appreciate me practicing with a running engine. We live in a very quiet wildlife estate.
