- I don't know anything about Jaina Solo. I mean, other than she now has an absolutely amazing Hasbro Star Wars Black Series action figure. Sometimes, that's enough. But the toy is so good it makes me want to go out and find out more.

Wow the dark side is strong with this one. Jacen and Jaina Solo had perhaps there biggest appearance 19 years ago, as in nothing to do with the new movies, and with 20+ Novels dedicated to them and their families adventures you can see them as quite a bit more sought after than 'walrus man' or Hammerhead. If you really need side characters that badly you could even try to make them yourself, or do some kit-bash type work.

Agreed. I can't believe they didn't do Jacen in the same wave as Jaina. It would be awesome to get Jacen and even Anakin Solo sometime. I would also love to see a Yhuzon Vong warrior or Jorrus C'boath. Heck, while I'm at it why haven't they made a Mara Jade?

You have no idea how I felt when I saw Jaina at Target. There I was just looking around, the recent Black series waves have not really wowed me but there she was, standing alone among various Maz Kanatas and Poe Damerons. God it made my day. A remnant of the old days.
Just got this figure and wow. This is hands down, one of the best black series figures right up there with the sandtrooper and some other ones. The detail is amazing and this is what the black series figures should always strive for in terms of quality.
Oh I completely agree. One my least known characters I've gotten in recent times and it's become one of my favorites.
Man, I REALLY wish Hasbro teams were sharing sculpts/engineering. Black Series has left Marvel Legends in the dust as far as female articulation goes, but there's plenty of compatible bits that would save me time and/or money if they just put a darn Red Skull head on a First Order uniformed body! Or gimme some Doctor Strange/Iron Fist interchangeable hands for a Luke! That swirly ML effect piece for Vader to block a blaster bolt! SAVE ME TIME HASBRO I'M TOO LAZY
Black Series and Marvel legends are comparable when it comes to female figures.
I don't know, I think Black Series does elbows better, and they have a wider variety of feet that avoids ML's "everybody has heels for a few waves" issue.

I just got my Jaina in the mail today. I went on YT to find a review and lo and behold, Robo has done one!
As someone who is a more casual, part-time Star Wars collector, I love it when they totally nail the expanded universe characters because they allow my imagination to go totally off “off-canon”. The flight gear is cool and well executed, but with that stuff removed, she looks like a perfect badass post-Jedi/Sith dogma force wielder (if that’s the direction the film series is going...) Along with K-2SO, t his is one of my favorite SWB figures.

Jaina Solo was born about 5 years after the battle of endor, and she and her brother Jacen was mainly in the Jedi academy series and took part of the yozong vong war

I've owned this figure since its release and am just now learning that you can remove the flight gear....that is awesome! Makes this figure even better IMO.

I just received this figure from Amazon tonight, after it sat on my wish list for a few years. I had found it interesting that they made a release of THIS character. So I nearly bought it outright, but decided to wait. Wish I hadn't, but the one I received had a damaged box, but on the plus side the figure is perfect. No weird joints, no crap paint points.
Glad i decided to order one of these. I've been waiting to finally dip my toe into the black series line and i think this was a great one to pull the trigger on.

I remembered seeing it like this on display at Celebration or SDCC, but I didn't think too much about it because I had no attachment to the character. It's amazing though.

I agree! Did you hear how they came with the face for this? They merged and overlay features from both Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford's faces to create her face.

Picked up this figure today - after a week of hunting. Toys R Us is lagging in my area, and Wal Mart isn't even trying anymore - lots of Rogue One peg warmers and very few TLJs showing up.
Vintage Stock to the rescue! They had a dozen of Jainas (I was expecting her to be a premium in the case).
Excellent figure! Articulation is tight/firm to the point I needed to be careful - like you - with the ankles. Good movement, actually with the neck joint. It takes a little work, but got her head to look upwards a bit. Neat waist joint, too.
The "blade" was well-fixed and took some work to remove. Took some work to get it back in, but it snapped in place - and held! Wasn't floppin' around. Scary trying to do it, so I probably won't mess much more with that. But dangit! It hangs so well on the belt!
Maaaaaan I wish I had a local Vintage Stock. The nearest one is an hour away.

You mentioned her being a great body for customs. That being said any suggestions? I have the ventruss head from the unleashed. It’s too big for most the smaller heroines and too small for the large ones like thundra etc.

The 'expanded universe' was so cool. This figure proves it.
I used to love all those comics, and my wife read a lot of the novels. I can see why they did away with it, it started to kind of paint them into corners and eat itself, but there was a ton of great stuff there.
What you say has truth. But it was a George Lucas end from a George Lucas beginning. Only Mozart can complete Mozart.
I'll give you that, sounds about right.
Actually Lucas really didn't care for the expanded universe, the clone wars cancelled out a lot of novels written about that period. He even changed the name of Korriban and he really wasn't happy about Timothy Zahn naming Coruscant. He tolerated it because it made him money.
I had heard as well that he didn't read a lot of the EU novels. And that he didn't care for some of the story arcs and thought that writers were sometimes overzealous. But I also heard he had final say so over all EU content. Keeping tight control over it's continuity. The Star Wars EU had hundreds of architects. But Lucas approved the design and put his name on it. And in the case of Darth Maul's double lightsaber, he even took from it.

Jaina Solo v Darth Revan looks like an alternative reality to the Vector run where OT characters time warp all the way back to the Old Republic, I really like that picture

Got this figure the day my Toys R Us got the wave in store! Some nice surprises with the elbow and waist articulation and removable flight gear (I didn’t realise this for about 3 days after I got the figure!)
I also had exactly the same problem as you with the ankle articulation, so it may be a design problem and not a QC issue, which is what I thought when I got mine.
On a side-note, I wonder if the Black Series ‘legends’ and Rebels figures will feature the new face printing tech once that comes into play, as they’re not trying to replicate any actor’s likeness...

Next time I run into the Hasbro team at a con I need to ask that. The Marvel Legends guy did talk about that, not doing the comic figures with the face print because of no likeness, although they could scan anyone they want onto there. Plus the years and years of previous comic Legends to match up with. But with Star Wars, this is only the 6th character to not appear in a movie (if I counted right) and it seems Hasbro has always tried to make them more realistic to match up to the movie figures. I'd be okay with a random person scanned onto the figure. Hell, run a contest. Hmm.

This figure gives me hope the will make an Iden Versio figure. The engineering behind these Black Series figures seem to be getting a lot better.
cool. I read the books with Jaina Solo. They are good. I ordered it from Dorkside toys. I had an Entertainment Earth pre-order but, like an idiot i cancelled it because of poor budgeting. I look forward to adding this to my collection.

This is one special black series figure. As a devoted Figuarts convert, lack series figures need to be wicked good for me to pop on one. Having said all of that it's one of my favorite figures in my 6" collection.

Like you, I know nothing about Jaina Solo, but how awesome is this figure of her? I had to order a second one just so I can have her in her flight suit and helmet and also without it at the same time. I’m certainly looking forward to future Black Series figures. Jaina has reinvigorated me.

She was part of the fan poll that was run a few years ago. I want to say Starkiller was in it but Jaina won overall.
For the lightsaber, the same thing happened with my 40th anniversary Obi-Wan
Is the peg short like that? I don't think I've had this problem before.
The Fwoosh It looked pretty similar to this one but I'm not sure as I couldn't manage to remove the blade completely from the hilt. Then when I gave up and pushed it back in and it was loose. It's the first time it's happened to me too.
The Fwoosh I was trying to get the blade out of the hilt on my obi wan and ended up snapping the peg off, now it has a permanent place on the belt hook
@Greedo If the peg itself is stuck in the saber, you could try something like a pinvice to get it out.
really nice figure. if i ever see it in the UK i'll prob get it despite not really getting Black Series much its a black hole i don't want to go down. gotta say the head sculpt as well as looking like the fwoosh's mum lol i also think she looks a bit like the actress Odette Annabelle currently in Supergirl who is playing the evil character Reign could be used as a custom i'm sure

I like Jango, but as far as figures go I love the Scarif Shoretrooper. Just an awesome design and figure.

Now if Hasbro can make this type of articulation on a female figure then they can totally do this for the Marvel Legends female characters. It's still would be great if they had double jointed elbows even bicep swivel. Still the arm movement is amazing on this figure so much customizing ideas for this female body

The Fwoosh Exactly I hope in the future Hasbro listens to fans who have been asking for articulation like this on Marvel Legend female characters. Also I hope they continue too applying this articulation for females in the Star Wars Black series line Robo it would benefit alot on their figures and I can see this body re-used for more female characters

I found mine at target today by chance almost thought it was a Jyn Erso and then I looked again.
they use the Erso mold for Jaina.
So excited for mine to come in! I really hope they keep making Legends figures as a rare but high quality treat for us older fans. I wonder who they will have next. I'm thinking Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Bastila Shan, Darth Nihilus, HK-47, or reborn Palpatine are pretty much the highest contenders to be next. What do you guys think?

Yes go watch TCW I was like you and thought the cartoons would be corny. I was very wrong I’ve watched all 6 seasons at least 10 times through now and it’s probably my favorite time period of SW now. I’m not saying it’s better then empire or Jedi. Great review thanks.

Only you can do these kind of reviews where you conjur up so much enthusiasm for a figure I had zero interest in getting( because Legends is really not my focus) but now I'm roving around the Amazon to get her affordably. ( because here in Belgium blahblah expensive, blehble....)

I got in on the Amazon pre-order a long time ago, got it last month some time.
Mine didn't get closed, but I've been calling them every few days and checking their stock and according to my store they have still have not got theirs mean either distribution internally and/or Hasbro has screwed them and either shorted their pre-order or not shipped them any at all.
You should go to think geek,they sell a whole lot of figures there.
Got a Sabine and was disappointed with the articulation because of the lack of an ab crunch that this figure seems to have. I also have some ahsokas pre ordered and noticed that those don’t have an ab crunch either. Idk why they don’t want to use this type of buck on the female characters because it seems to work really well. Just my two cents.

Wouldn't surprise me if Hasbro is just waiting for the ESB 40th Anniversary to put those out on the Kenner-style packaging. Hopefully those and some of the earlier releases (Bespin Luke, Bubba Feet) find their way into the regular series' again as well.

Does Hasbro still do fan votes for each line or is it usually only one line that gets it? I'm not as big of a Marvel fan as I am with Star Wars, so the Marvel Fan Vote from this year wasn't as important to me
Ooo, nice. I'll admit, Jaina was one I was going to pass on, but that face looks great, though that begs the question as to how the other face paint app have been so off before now, and I don't that comes does to not knowing the character from a film. Alright Sloth/Rey should be a bit of a one off, but some of the others have just looked plain bad, but clearly they can do a decent face paint app without additional shading/washes over the top...!?
The way I understand it, changes take a long time to implement. If we gripe about something and they listen, it's going to be a good 10 months to a year to get something done about it. Plus I heard that the SWBS factory was the old ML factory, before they got good, so they were fighting with that too.
She is the sword of the Jedi who piolets a stealth X-Wing. Jaina and her brother Jason are super expensive in the 3.75 size. Hasbro have no excuses when it comes to female articulation, they should do this for the legends line.

Actually, the top of the helmet comes off. And I'd go for the MAFEX, the SHF has kind of that sad walrus look like the first Black Series Vader. It looks like I'd probably recommend the second Black Series Vader over the SHF.

A shf yoda ? Prequel style no need of articulation just interchangeable arms (one with there lightsaber, for holding the cane, in force stuff and an arm like he feel through the force the jedi dies ) and with another figure Prequel style in méditation pose with head with eye closes

Yeah, it's getting kind of ridiculous, like naming both the 6 inch and 3.75 lines Black Series. But yeah, I'd take a Sharad Hett, Dark Woman, Kir Kanos, Carnor Jax, Quinlan Vos, and a ton of others. Tobbi Dala.

KAMAZON, What country do you live in? I find it almost impossible to find anything cool here in Australia (in my hometown anyway). I usually order all my figures from online stores. That might be an option for you.
