When Tharwn comes backs to the star Wars galaxy, I seriously want him to win battles without any plot armor getting in his way, finally showing how dangerous Thrawn's Tactical and strategical mind to it's full potential really is. And now at the defeat in the hands of Ezra possibly his first defeat or one of, Thrawn will ultimately learn from his mistakes and become more powerful than ever before.

Interestingly, with Ezra & Thrawn being together it does set up a potential Heir to the Empire storyline. Instead of Jorus C’Baoth, Thrawn could use Ezra as his “dark Jedi” substitute.
It does set up some plot lines that would have to be changed, but I think it would be a good transition, considering the series was written way before rebels or clone wars was a thing.

Thrawn's only fault is that he wished to teach other officers to see things the way he does and make them better. This works out well 90% of the time, but when he runs into people who refuse to learn like Konstanine, he usually doesn't see it until their idiocy ruins his well laid out plan.

    • @mish375
      @mish375 ปีที่แล้ว +22

They might combine Legends material for that. In Heir to the Empire, he had Rukh kill a Lieutenant that lost Luke when he pulled a stunt that got him out of the Chimaera's tractor beam. But Thrawn explained afterwards that he couldn't teach someone who had so little a mind in a war which is a zero sum game. The lieutenant had blamed his error on his superior officer instead of taking responsibility for his mistake and working to correct it. Thrawn leaves the superior officer alive because he had made an oversight in training and admitted it. Generally, Thrawn only executes someone who refuses to learn. Sadly many in the Empire are incompetent due to the corruption in the ranks.

Thrawn’s tactical skill came from studying the culture and art of his Target, learning how they react to things. Such as sneaking a cloaked vessel into a planet’s atmosphere before showing himself, so that the planetary shield appeared to be ineffective against his weaponry. He knew the race he was facing would immediately and unequivocally surrender if they thought their defenses were useless. Literally took a planet with one single turbo laser blast.

Yeah I feel like it made a lot of sense and didn't discount Thrawn as an enemy. When left to his own devices, his plans worked and he nearly destroyed the Rebellion on Atollon. The show laid the groundwork, showing how the Rebellion early on gained a good bit of ground because of Imperial incompetency. Many high-ranking Imperials aside from Thrawn and Kallus underestimated the Rebels and didn't take them as a serious threat. Thrawn at the end of the day was beaten fairly because Ezra used what he had no knowledge of, his main weapon, in against him.

I’m just imagining the chaos that would ensue with the power vacuum in the Senate, the Separatists reorganizing, and the clone troopers at risk of being tossed aside earlier than they were, if only by a few months to a few years earlier. I would imagine the only good thing that would happen right away would be the Jedi Order saving their reputation.

Okay, so I'm not read up on Canon as opposed to Legends, but regarding the ISD-1 vs. ISD-2 and their differences at around the 6:50 timestamp:
There are several additional differences in Legends regarding the ISD-2, the most notable of which were replacing the heavy dual turbolaser batteries on either side of the bridge with octuple-turbolaser batteries. Additionally, they featured more powerful shields, a reduction in what few point defense batteries existed on the ISD-1, and (in some sources, it's not always consistent) swapped out ion cannons for additional turbolasers.
Different games and media have had different interpretations but it seems like the ISD-1 was an all-rounder (as much as the Empire made all-rounders in their capitals, anyways), while the ISD-2 was definitively meant to engage in ship-to-ship warfare. While dual heavy turbolasers are deadly in their own right, *most* media has portrayed the octuple turbolaser batteries as being especially deadly in capital ship battles.

    Thrawn's philosophy was reflected best.
    1. He believed that the ISD was one of the best warships to be ever deployed by the Empire. You don't need bigger ships, just build more of them.
    2. The ISD's weakness is the TIE Fighter. The starfighter is too weak, reducing the ISD to a powerful battleship vulnerable to starfighter attack. His TIE Defender was designed for the best pilots and save experience from being lost.
    3. Thrawn was very much against the Death Star project. Using enormous resources to control or dominate a sector could have been used to build more star destroyers and TIE Defenders to pursue insurgents and enforce every sector in the galaxy.

early game I had to play defensively because the rebels just had too much mobility and the starfighters were so good that my star destroyers were pretty much dead meat after I lose the fighter screens, but after I reach the tie defender researcher, the empire suddenly becomes just as mobile as the rebels and the already better capital ships get to finally shine when they are not being gang R***ed by swarms of X AND Y wings.

    I agree with your assessment.

If Thrawn had been the Supreme Commander of the Navy I bet the Empire would have won. Might be a neat "what if" scenario for a comic or something.

I don't know. He's a great field tactician, but a supreme commander needs to deal with all the politics, intra-fighting, people seeking advancement...

The beauracracy and politics which thrawn was not built for ontop the fact that he was a n alien would have had him had to fight real hard to maintain that position. He would stretched while at the same time trying to beat the rebels with a team that at its core is not willing to fight for him or under his leadership. There was a good reason he was kept away from the other joint chief's given how high his station was. Palpatine didnt want to shake the hornet's nest

Though needing some twinks, I really want to make more of Tie Fighter PC game canon. One twink, Admiral Karyn Faro will have to replace Thrawn in game. Which makes the last mission of defeating Zaarin in the unknown territories a nice stepping stone to a certain reunion. And if Ezra Bridger met a very minor dark acolyte who had pretty good reasons not to trust the dark side and was a pilot second only to Vader.. that would be interesting too.

I will probably faint at his first live-action appearance.
