    The above retinoscopy video is good for beginners. First the user has to develop orientation to focus light on eye. First check whether ur using plano or concave mirror, because the shadow movement in concave mirror is opposite to plano mirror. The glass power can be increased by 0.50d. till get reversal of movement. The speed of shadow movement, brightness of shadow gives an idea of refractive power. Slower the movement and dull shadow indicate high refractive power. One can do streak retinoscopy with spherical only in both axis by rotating th knob. Once u reach neutralization in one meridian, do retinoscopy in other meridian.
    The other easy method of streak retinoscopy is doing refraction with high power glass than the actual power and then reduce power to get reversal of movement. In oblique astigmatism, rotate the knob till the streak and shadow come parallel.

    Awesome described as in Elkington book just in four minutes four pages covered here that too with good comprehensive simple presentation and animation awesome I really liked it though we never used this technique or trial frames or cylinders we always used spheres in each meridian and then used to correct it for working and cycloplegic correction you corrected for working distance but then you didn't tell to correct it for cycloplegic drug correction also here you neutralised the movement with the sphere in one axis and with the cylinder at ninety degree later on keeping sphere intact, it's a normal uncomplicated example ! Sphere can be neutralised in any one meridian horizontal or vertical first then perpendicular meridian is used to it to neautralise that with the cylinder but you didn't correct here for a drug used for cycloplegia but anyways a helpful video for better clear understanding !
    I hate my post graduate college such a chhapri cheap faalatu college didn't teach us things fast and properly why because they themselves don't know many things plus their ego arrogance biased attitude is at highest level !

    Sir, during final spectacle power we should algebric summation of spherical power from working distance, in this case +1.5-2.0, isn’t it.Please clear it.

    • @optometry-with-samir

      I will request watch this video again carefully.
      We have already given working distance power(+1.50D). Then we neutralized one meridian with Spherical lens and other with cylinder lens. And in final prescription we didn't count the working distance power. So no need to subtract working distance from spherical power....

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In scissor reflex accuracy will be less keep it in mind. To increase the accuracy you can use pilocarpine to constrict the pupil. Better to give cylinder in Minus (against movement) form as lenses are made up with minus cylinder.

    Sir in this video our retinoscope streat for correction of cylinder is 90 degree .. We put cylinder at 180 axis or at 90 axis please guide me. and in final prescriptiom you write -2 00/-1.00*90 while our streat is 90 i think here axis should be 180 in prescription

    • @optometry-with-samir
      @optometry-with-samir  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      First of all,
      You are confusing with retinoscopic cross with retinoscopic neutralization.
      During retinoscopy only remember about axis don't try to think where the power is...
      When the reflex becomes parallel with streak we call it axis and to neutralize this axis remember you have to place the axis of trial lens where streak and relfex is parallel, power is already distributed 90 apart from the axis in the trial lens.
      You don't need to change the axis by 90 again.
      If still you are confused go through the optics of cylinder lens. Or start doing retinoscopy with this video (with these 3 simple steps) by the time you will understand the mechanism.
      Thank you,
      Samir Sutradhar
