    Just purchased this rice maker. Read directions and still didn't understand the rice/water portion exactly. So glad I found your video on TH-cam! You relay and demonstrate very well. Was easy to understand. Now off to cook the rice. Thank You!

    Great video. Rinse free function is for a special type of rice that does not need to be washed (most rice we see in the Us require wash). One thing I have learned from Japanese friends is that they rinse, rid the water, and quickly mix the rice counter clockwise for around 30 seconds to get rid of the outer layer of the grain - rinse until water is clear and cook. Rice tastes so much better with this extra step.

    The timer setting indicates when you want the rice to be ready ready, not when it starts to cook.

    The rinse free setting is not to be used when you manually wash your rice. It is used when you are making a specialty Japanese rice which does not need to be rinsed.

    Thank you so much for explaining the display, buttons and how to use the timer bcuz I didnt understand how it worked. I read the instructions but I must dense, bcuz I just didnt get it! Lol I made brown rice and I only wanted to make a small amount (I live alone so it's just me eating) and I added the water just below the 2 cups line and it came out super mushy lol....like I said, dense! Lmao. Anyways I get it now. I'm gonna make the mushy rice into rice pudding 😆😁

    You can change the chime settings by the way. You can set it to just beep, or make it completely silent. It's in the manual

    Hate how complicated the timer is.

    • @derp8575
      @derp8575 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And there are apparently 2 timer settings. Not sure what is the purpose of that second timer. Also he said the timer is for when you want your rice to begin cooking. Another reviewer said the timer is when you want your rice to be finished cooking. Perhaps it varies among models? Perhaps I'll call a certified Zoji technician to clarify.
