    I have a great appreciation for Japanese products due to their exceptional quality and durability. Recently, I bought two rice cookers-one being the ZOJIRUSHI NS-ZCC10WZ Neuro Fuzzy, and the second, ZOJIRUSHI NS-TSC10XJ model, has the additional feature of baking cakes. I'm curious about your thoughts on the best Japanese or Korean rice varieties and where I can purchase them. Your insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

      Are you close to an Asian grocery store? If so, there should be plenty of selection there. For me, I'm not too picky on my rice and I usually buy the Thai Jasmine rice. Sorry not much help on the Japanese or Korean rice selection.

    I bought the Chinese manufactured "Zojirushi NS-MYC10 Micom Fuzzy Logic 5.5 Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer" in 2003 because at the time it was half the price of the Japan made model. It has been working perfectly for many years (still using it in 2020) , the most important thing is to clean the Vent & Gasket after each use.

    you need to rinse your rice until the water is clear. when it's murky like what's shown in your video, the rice does not taste as great. also, rinse the rice in another container, not in the zojirushi pot, because over time the rubbing will damage the non-stick layer.

    • @tlee927
      @tlee927 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @shinto666 hi. i believe you can set the timer to cook the ingredients up to 12 or 24 hours (at least 12 for sure).
      the rice tastes as good as it is being cooked on spot.
      some people believe that soaking the rice makes it tastier. imo it is true for brown rice. soaking it over 8+ hours makes the inside softer. however, if the weather is hot and humid, doing so would be a concern for me because food can go bad.

    Thanks for the review. I've been doing research on Zoji rice cookers and I want to purchase this one. I am debating whether to get the 5.5 cup or the 10 cup version that you have. Typically we cook 3 cups at a time. It's nice to have the extra capacity for when cooking for a larger group. Do you feel that the quality for 3 cups is the same or lower quality than when you are cooking 6 to 10 cups of rice?

    • @jasminshum8560
      @jasminshum8560  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi dwehola, honestly we are a household of 4 and most of the time we only cook about 2 cups of rice. Sometimes if I'm just cooking for myself, I have even done 1 cup of rice and I personally couldn't tell any difference in the quality of rice. Hope this helps.

    • @jasminshum8560

    • @jasminshum8560

      My understanding is that sweet rice is glutinous rice/sticky rice. This is the type of rice Thai restaurants use for Mango and Sticky Rice Dessert. Sushi rice is regular white rice but is short grain. Jasmine rice is white rice but long grain. Hope that helps.

    • @jasminshum8560
      @jasminshum8560  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did you use the measuring rice cup that came with the rice cooker? In addition, if you cook let say 1 cup of white rice, after you wash the rice, put the washed rice in the rice pot, and then fill up with water to the 1 cup white rice line indicated on the side of the pot. In other words, make sure the total volume of your washed rice + water to the line that corresponds to the volume of the uncooked rice at the beginning.

Keep in mind that mine is a 1.8L (10 cup) model. If you want to do 0.5 cup of rice, I would probably recommend the 1.0 L (5.5 cup) model. Hope this helps!

      mine is over 15 years, neuro fuzzy, same model. i am getting the new version soon though, with the pressure cooking option. my original white neuro fuzzy needs new parts, because over time food particles start to block the air flow, making it hard to keep cooked rice warm in the pot. it used to take days before the rice would turn brown and hard. but now it only lasts 12 hours. replacement parts cost about $120ish - a new non-stick pot, an inner top lid, and the plastic spatula holder on the side.

      A friend of mine bought it for me in a second hand electronic shop in japan for 130 euros. It wasn‘t cheap but i love my fuzzy a lot (´▽`ʃƪ)

      I just bought the 5cup one for 220 euros and I expect to spend an extra 100 euro for customs fee, tax and paperwork. Life in America is definitely much cheaper than in Europe.

      This model, the NS-ZCC10/NS-ZCC18, is the only one I've found labeled "Neuro Fuzzy" and is made in Japan, while the comparable Micom Fuzzy Logic NS-TSC10/NS-TSC18 is made in China. Two differences are that on the ZCC there are cool touch handles to pull out the pot and the steam vent is easier to clean.
