What they don't tell you is you have to change the battery for the screen every few years. I had to modify this and inserted a coin battery case for easy replacement.

@@DavidSusiloUnscriptedYou have to take it apart to see if there is a battery. They solder them to the board just behind that display. Battery was to keep the clock going anyways. Maybe they decided screw it and call it a "new Model".
I just double checked. You are correct. This has lithium ion battery. It’s simply an excuse to make it obsolete in 5-6 years because based on the manual, if the battery is dead the rice cooker won’t work.
Try the long grain white setting for white basmati rice.

@RabbitsInBlack I think this one doesn’t have battery because when I unplugged the cooker, I have to set the clock again.
