DIY Maxi Chiffon Dress with Tiered Ruffle Skirt + Sewing Pattern

- Hi everyone! An absolutely perfect elegant dress for summer, this dream of a design can be figure accentuating and charmingly flowy at the same time - and the classic crew neckline with comfy elastic-hemmed long sleeves make this Poppy dress one of my wardrobe favorites - and I know you'll love it too :)

Here are the materials you’ll need:
- 3.5-4.2 m (3.85-4.6 yds) light-medium weight woven fabric
- 40-50 cm (16”-20”) elastic 5 mm (1/4”) wide
- loop turner tool
- matching thread
- glasshead pins
- scissors
- measurement tape
- Poppy pattern
I am using this beautiful poppy-print chiffon fabric for that light, perfectly-draping look. I recommend using something like a cotton, linen, and challis for easy handling of the fabric, or a gauze, chiffon or satin for a silkier look.

Finally I found a covered dress
French seams are a lovely way to sew sheers. Sew a scant 1/4" seam, *wrong sides together. Then sew a scant 1/2" seam, right sides together. Voila! Finished seams. Also, a line of stitching for a fold line on the hem, makes a clean edge. 👍

Can anyone please advise me, If you have a dart in the front of a bodice and a dart lessens the material, do you have to add a dart in the back bodice so the hems line up for stitching? Many Thanks
You need the darts in the front to hug the bust. It shortens the sides, but the back sides should be that length without the darts. The extra length in the middle of the front bodice allows room for the bust. I recommend to leave a bit extra on the bodice hem and when you try on the bodice you can mark where exactly you want the hem to be, front and back. Remember that it may not be a straight line as humans tend to curve 😅

Yes! The pattern itself comes in sizes 2-20, but you can always adjust it to your personal measurements and make it fit exactly how you want it to be ❤️

@@bethoumyvision1346 Yes, you can use any light-medium weight woven fabric for this dress - something like Gauze, Lawn, Rayon Challis, Chiffon, Satin, Callis, Linen and Cotton.
I just found this channel today Feb 24, 2024 4:53 Philippine time.
I really admire how clean your work is. I've been wanting to learn to make dresses, especially long dresses. Hopefully I can learn how to sew one day because I've really been interested in sewing since I was a kid but unfortunately don't have the chance to get a sewing machine.
Hopefully these days I can get a cheaper one for starters.
