  • Looking for a good, dependable whisky that’s readily available in 2024? In this video I share the 5 highest scoring “core range” whiskies I tried in 2023.
A core range whisky is one that a whisky distillery has as a standard release, so you know it is always being made and you should be able to find in most good spirit retailers. The best part about enjoying a core range whisky is, if you like it, you can buy it again, and again, and again. You can always come back to it and it will taste just as good as you remember.

Not really my take - maybe The Laddie, but my 5 essentials are Bunna 12, Port Charlotte 10, Arran Quarter Cask, Ardnamurchan cask strength and Ledaig/ any Bimber. All bangers and cover a few more bases…

Hell yeah the Port Ruighe is my favourite core range Talisker as well, although I'd highly recommend the Parley Wilder Seas, which is similar in way and very different in others but a delicious whisky nonetheless. Cheers Nath!

Great video. When I think of an available, dependable, core range whisky that overachieves, I think of Bunna 12 year.
