    Hi Marc, just wanna say that your review for the day for Apple ultra watch was fun to watch. Also appreciates that you blurred the people in the background for privacy. How do you achieve that & what camera settings do you use? Great to see Hong Kong from your view 🙏 Keep up the great work 🤗

    • @MarcTaraz
      @MarcTaraz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! I’m so glad you enjoyed! You can achieve that with a wide aperture lens! I used the Sony a7siii and a 20mm 1.8 G lens for this vlog, shot mostly between f1.8 and 2.5 to give that nice shallow depth of field and bokeh (background blur)
      I hope that helps!

    Very intriguing for me. I'm not an exercise junky but I like the idea of ditching my phone for the day and only taking my laptop & watch to the office. As long as the watch can handle a few hours of podcasts & music (with air-pods), and up to two hours of navigation via maps (+ maybe a call and a few messages) then it would suit me just fine. I'm not a big user otherwise as I do 90% of my communication through the laptop.
    Being able to just pop out and about without ever holding or managing a phone seems like a dream to me. I hate how much my phone distracts me. Is it worth upgrading to the Ultra just for that extra reliability? Wondering if the SE would handle being my main device all day....

    • @MarcTaraz
      @MarcTaraz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The main difference you’ll see on the ultra is battery life, the nicer screen, and the keyboard. The SE sadly doesn’t have the keyboard, which I find really handy for responding to texts. Everything you said you want sounds doable on either, but I don’t know about hours of lte maps navigation since I haven’t tested it, but seeing as this is the outdoor adventure watch, I’m fairly confident it could handle that.

    • @halfalligator6518
      @halfalligator6518 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarcTaraz oh the map thing would be just to figure out the transport network - I wouldnt need to look at the screen very much. Usually 3 or 4 trips a day max, each about 20mins. Thanks for the reply.

    So many years of my life I had no cell phone, but now we need one? I think you're right that certain systems today don't allow a person to not have one, like QR codes and most 2-factor authentication. However, it still feels unfair to me to 'force' people to carry a cell phone. Ok, I might be old fashioned, but cell phones should always be a personal choice IMO - and not a requirement. FYI: I use my Apple Ultra Watch all the time and I WISH it could completely replace my phone. The three missing things for me are the ability to respond to my job's 2-factor authentication from the watch, the ability to call an Uber car (they deprecated their app), and the ability to pair it with my Libre 3 glucose monitor (notifications will bug me to death if my phone isn't near by). Thank you so much for doing this video, and bravo for how healthy your life is! 😀

      Love your opinion. I don’t like feeling forced into having my phone on me all the time. But I need to be reachable for my family. I’m close to getting an ultra for this purpose. Make sure my phone is charged at home. Shouldn’t be an issue. I have a 15PM, standby time is great.

    We all realize that just using your phone for certain things are much quicker. I think the real allure here is that it’s attached to your wrist. You don’t have to pick it up or put it in your pocket. It’s small and lasts a really long time! That’s what has me contemplating using it to replace my phone on my 3 day weekends. I work 4 days a week. For work I do need my phone for the work app I use.

    I got my watch ultra on Wednesday. I charged it full up Thursday night. Being connected to my phone. It has lasted 60 hours and in at 26%. And that’s not on power saving mode and that’s doing sleep tracking every night and one 20 minute workout. The battery is a beast. My Apple Watch 3 when it was new lasted two full days and I thought that was impressive.

    My son doesn't have a phone, but I got him a cell-enabled Apple Watch SE a few weeks ago as his first device. It's been working surprisingly well, but it also has some very real limitation. The biggest one so far is that Spotify requires a phone to work, and Apple Music isn't great on it either. Also, his mom and I can't both be parents to his Apple account, since our Apple accounts aren't part of the same family. (That would be a problem with an iPhone as well, not just the watch.) Overall, the watch seems to be an ok replacement for the phone, and provides some great limits since it can't do social media and doesn't have a camera. But for most adults, it seems like the watch isn't nearly fully featured enough to be a phone replacement. However, I'm still a bit jealous of your watch. If the scuba computer app had been available two weeks ago, I probably would have gotten one for my trip last week. Instead I got a dedicated scuba watch.

    • @MarcTaraz
      @MarcTaraz  ปีที่แล้ว

      The watch SE is such a good deal, cannot argue with the price to performance ratio. And that’s so cool that you went scuba diving! I hope you had a great time

    The Apple Watch Ultra is definitely a cool watch. I do recommend to some people. Its built like a tank and works extremely well. However, I highly suggest you try it on first and wear it for a couple of days to see if you like it or not. Personally, I had to return mine. I notice the biggest problem for me was its size. It was so massive on my wrist (I have 16cm wrists). It looked awesome but it became more of a distraction (even with the screen turned off). I couldn't help but constantly stare at it every time I twisted my wrist. Luckily I had a 7 day money back guarantee. So I got my money back. I hope this helps.
    In the end. I ordered an Apple Watch Series 8 (Starlight Variant) 41 mm with a Nike white/platuim band instead. I also combined it with iPad mini 6 to replace my iPhone. The mobility of the Apple swatch series 8 41mm with the productivity of the iPad mini 6 is an incredible combo imo. I also found a way for the battery to last between 16-20hours (5:30am-9pm) at night on single charge. I think I might make a video to show people how it can be done. Awesome video btw.

    • @MarcTaraz

    Just a request for the future, try not to say "Hey Siri" during the video. Siri just attempted to call my dad at 10:17 PM :/
    Thank you for the vid, though. Cellular uses way too much battery, and there is not currently a good way to fix that. I suppose you could either carry your phone in the backpack (but then why not just use it?) or charge the watch throughout the day.
    I used to do this at my job, but the watch would connect to wifi, so the battery barely drained more than normal over the course of the day. It was super freeing to not have a phone though. Fewer distractions, and I still got all of the necessary notifications.
    Perhaps, if you planned on taking the same route everyday, you could make sure the watch connects to wifi throughout the city. I dunno. No good solutions at the moment lol. I also have the Ultra, and it gets me through 2+ days of normal wear. I'm satisfied.

      @MarcTaraz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I’m so sorry about triggering Siri! I’m glad you enjoyed the vid. The watch is definitely great, and I get about 2 days guaranteed of battery under normal use. It will be very intriguing to see how this kind of tech continues to evolve
