  • In this video I will take a 9 hour trip to Belarus on a Russian train. Would you like to know what it is like to travel a 3rd class carriage? So I invite you for a video trip. To a trip on a Russian sleeper train. Russians call this type of carriage a PLATZKART. It's an open carriage. Compartments are not having doors. And there are 2 side seats.
And you can use this video as a Russian train guide. Next time you are in Russia, you can take a train trip. You will know what to do.

On a foggy morning in late November, a train from Warsaw arrives into St. Petersburg. Two men in third class strike up a conversation. . One is Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin, a fair-haired man with a white beard and blue eyes. That Vitebsk train station where you have taken the video is like from the F. Dostoyevsky's novel "The Idiot." in 1868

It took more than 3 days and I didn't have a sleeper car. I sat in a seat the whole time. I managed to finally sleep sitting upright in the chair - out of complete exhaustion! You gave me a good laugh about trying to sleep in the train. The price of your trip was fabulous. You would pay much more than that in the US. That was a beautiful train station. Chicago’s Union Station still looks like this. It’s one of only a few true beautiful architectural features left in my opinion.
I hope the trains are more comfortable there than here. They are totally horrible but pretty uncomfortable. Not at all like I remember as a little girl.
Your ride was how I remember as a little girl. Long comfortable seats instead of the cramped very uncomfortable ones now. What a pleasant memory.

So interesting! The train was clean and I love the glass for the tea! Rode overnight on a train in the US. Had a small room with a door and bathroom. It was cramped but fun to sleep on a train. Do you always go by train to your Mom's? Are there busses or taxi's that will get you there?

So much character in that building. If walls could talk!

Such a GREAT video! 🤗 I hope you will tell us how your mom and brother liked their gifts! It's too bad they don't have little curtains you can draw close on the train, but maybe for security or something, they need to make sure everyone is behaving? 😇 I can't wait to see your next video!!
