I don’t pretend to be a travel expert, but I love what I do and would be honoured if you came along with me. My channel focusses on the wide-eyed wonder and excitement of finding somewhere new, and my genuine reaction to it. You may not get a history lesson in my videos, but who knows, you might pick up some useful travel tips along the way, add a few destinations to your bucket list and hopefully be entertained by what you see. Thanks for watching, it means a lot to me :)
I do ALL of this myself. Planning, filming, editing, promoting, all with a weekly upload schedule, so please understand not every video will be an epic adventure. But my pledge is to always do my best in any situation and KEEP THE CAMERA ROLLING :)

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up (in which case, likely to be Tuesday at 5pm)
WHY IS THERE A DELAY BETWEEN TRIP AND VIDEO APPEARING?
This is both my business model and a result of doing everything myself. Editing takes time and I also like to schedule videos a bit in advance in case of any problems/illness/cancellations etc. Keeping my uploads appearing every Saturday is important to me, so I don’t want anything to get in the way of it. Also, I occasionally need some time off to recover from trips! But more than anything else, it's about budgets. I generally need to film a number of videos on each trip to break even. And each one of these take a while to fall into place on a Saturday morning.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc. I also have a DJI Pocket 3 (bigger sensor) for nighttime, although I’m still getting to grips with it.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotel prices especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman. Also my weekly upload schedule means I need to keep on the move.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature whenever possible, but she has her own life and a 9-5 job so it can take a while for our schedules to match up. Trust me though, I prefer it when She is there too!
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It's my income, I can't do this for free. Notice I don’t have mid-roll ads though!
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you'd like to support further, I'll pop links in here for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for TH-cam Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

The sign Poole used to say “Poole for the continent” someone wrote underneath “Bournemouth for the incontinent”😊.
If they weren't incontinent , there would be a Pool(e). I'll see myself out.
Very good 😂😂😂
Superb 😂
I was one of your drivers on this video. I know it’s painful but hope you enjoyed the journey
Jason, you and your fellow coach and bus drivers have my total respect and admiration for the job you do! 🙏
Those coach drivers deserve our admiration.
As do Alicja and you!
Oh Steve! You are a brave man. In case anyone from our part of the world is put off visiting lovely Dorset by this, there is in fact a flight between Edinburgh and Bournemouth. It might be pricier during the school holidays, but I use it regularly throughout the year to visit my mum and I’ve never paid more than £70 return including a bag and seat selection.
Thank you very much! That may be a cheaper way for us to finally do Paulton's Park on our Theme park channel without paying the higher price of the Southampton flight.
Great seeing the train I used to take from Bournemouth to Southampton for 3 years.
Haha he is. I wouldn’t go near London unless I really had to these days. I was unlucky enough to be born there but escaped the moment I could.
I didn’t realise there were flights from up here down to Bournemouth though. When you say our part of the world what part of Scotland do you refer to though. Which airport do you depart from please? I’m about an hour North of Inverness are you down south in Scotland near the bigger airports?
I think Steve and Scott need to do another joint adventure brilliant channels ❤
You are a traveling man Steve
Really nicely edited, especially the London walk
Wasn’t it great!
One of the best travel channels
IMO THE best
@@frederickmuhlbauer9477 My 2 best ones are this one and OnboardHD
That station announcer at Poole was the clearest one I've ever heard - I could hear every word which has never happened before.
Thanks for sharing your journey, Steve. All the best from Australia.
Hi, make sure you take a small bottle or small jar of cayenne pepper , it stops blood clots and dissolves blood clots very , very fast , especially good for people travelling long distances sitting down for a long time , lovely journey , i use cayenne pepper in my cooking every day , it cleans blood vessels and arteries and stops heart attacks and strokes , thanks , a lovely journey , linda in Wales 😊😊😊
No fail there from my point of view , Steve. You made it to Montrose the best way you could. Oh, and seeing the statue of Oor Wullie was a real bonus ! Thanks for posting.
That was an epic journey. Not a fail to abandon/change plans when you did. Thank for undertaking it - what you have to do for a bit of footage!
I don't know how you did it, Steve, but you managed to make this compelling as heck. Pretty sure i enjoyed it more than you did. Well played! 👏👏👏
I have no comment really to add apart from the usual 'excellent video, well worth watching, Steve's great' etc. But every comment we make helps YT's algorithms push Steve's channel further up the viewing list for others to discover- and who are we to keep it all to ourselves? Just remember we all need to watch the adverts at the end and not just close the page when Steve does his 'outro'.
Thanks Steve .... what a trooper! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
At 86, I think my rambling will be limited to the US. I did drive across the N. American continent twice in August Thanks for the vicarious trip to the exotic UK.
Bravo, Steve! What an epic journey... you deserve a medal and a beer or two🍺 😇👍
When I was a bit younger myself, the wife and two kids did the bus journey to estartit in spain. 36 hours it took. It was all we could afford at the time. Happy days.
I did the same thing with my mum & Stepdad back in '89 from Buchanan Street bus Station in Glasgow to Estartit, you're right, it was a rough ride
The moment you said, "if you want to see me suffer, you're in the right place," I went, yes! I will watch every minute of this video. Count on it.
England in the sunshine is glorious and London is monstrously big. Nice Video.
2nd biggest in Europe after Moscow, it's massive
You can make anything interesting Steve. Hope you got lots of rest!
I take my hat off to you Steve your stamina is impressive, i think there comes a time when you just have to admit defeat and never take a bus again for myself I will always either drive myself or take a train or plane. Thanks for your effort and until next time stay safe and well, cheers from Oz.
I’ve taken hundreds of overnight coach trips here in Turkey but no more I can’t take them anymore and she’ll out for a flight whenever I can Will be in Istanbul for back surgery on Oct 7th Your videos will be very useful during my recovery Cheers guys
hooray for the weekend!
Watching this brought back memories of a coach holiday to Italy in my 30's...never again!! It was 27 hours plus to get there on the coach, with no sleep, we were playing catch up as we encountered delays with gale force conditions and the closure of crossings. The tour of Italy was lovely, however the journey back was brutal and like you said I got into a state of unconsciousness where I didn't know if I was asleep or awake. I still get a cold sweat talking about it. My dad met me off the coach and his first words were 'you look like you need a holiday!! 😃So I don't blame you for bailing out, although hats off to Alicia and Scott for staying the course.
Steve, I am absolutely loving all your your long ferry journey videos and appreciate that you've had to suffer something chronic to make this one in order to get home. I couldn't have done it and would like to offer any help I can in future in planning your roots to or from these trips to make them a little more comfortable and still on a budget. There's nothing like a good ferry journey or journey by sea in general and I'm absolutely with you on this
Always look forward to your uploads at the weekend Steve 👍
I bet your glad to be back home after that long bus journey
Long distance coach journeys are OK so long as they are not overnight. The worst journey I ever made was from Coventry to Lyon (France) by overnight coach. But one of my favourite trips was the 12 hour (7am to 7pm) coach from Wellington to Auckland in NZ. It was just wonderful!
still looking but already some comments > fun commentary from the train journey. When in London, aren't you just glad you live in Montrose!
Thank you Steve...you did real well.....Can't wait for the next one.
I’ve watched the whole of your video now, it was great, you actually show me a lot of the country when you film and that’s very much appreciated. I’m only 5ft but I too would have struggled with the legroom. Was lovely to see you filming from your home town. Safe travels Steve, and looking forward to your next video. 👍😊
Oh Steve..you're such a trooper for us all ! Thank you for the video..I think we all like to watch you suffer ! (just a wee bit ). 🤣
You always make people feel as if they are travelling along with you! Great video
Some journey that, well done!
I enjoy all your videos Steve, especially your Northlink ferry journeys, which I would like to do at some stage. I have done some long bus journeys in my time: New York to Dallas (48hrs); Alice Springs to Townsville (30hrs); Townsville to Brisbane (30hrs), but I wouldn't undertake those long distance bus journeys again.
I use SWR a lot. They are very good, the revenue guys are about a lot checking tickets. I like that. There is always a guard SWR guard around, and the tannoy works well and updates any travel information ASAP.
It'll definitely get busy at Bournemouth, so grab your seat NOW!!
As for London. I stay away from there 😬.
Have an excellent trip 😊
PS, just saw you go through Southampton Airport rail station. You can get off, get a flight to Channel Islands, grab a ferry over to beautiful HERM or SARK.
But im sure you know this anyway 😊
Brilliant video Steve . The editing was fantastic . It's my idea of hell having done that journey from Victoria to Aberdeen many times .I hated it so much back in the 90's that I preferred to just hitchhike, which I did multiple times . Funnily enough, I did Bournemouth to Aberdeen once after going for an interview at the college of art at Bournemouth & Poole . Thoroughly enjoyed watching . Safe travels
Great video Steve, you're a braver man than me taking on that long coach journey. Even with two seats my knees and back would not have survived me being sat down for so long. As I get older I'm sure my body is extracting pay back for what I put it through in my youth. 🤔😉👍.
well done all the same. Thanks for sharing the challenges
Steve, there is nothing wrong with a fail. Everybody has different levels of pain they can go through ! At least you can now appreciate more what Alicja went through. Keep up the travelling.
Another great video steve thank you
Steve I know how you feel , I have been on and driven overnight bus trips across Europe, but well done and thanks for another great video, looking forward to the next.
Always interesting thanks great vlog
Love the video 👍
I couldn’t have stayed that long on a bus…although I’ll happily drive for hours. Hats off to Alicia for doing it 😀
Steve, You should have bailed at Edinburgh and jumped on First Class in the LNER 1028 service for £29 and had some cool orange juice, piping hot tea or coffee and a delicous Bacon butty, plus also the disabled loo, to change any clothes. We know you Scotsmen like looking after their money but sometimes you just have to spend it. :)
What an epic Steve. Really enjoyed that. I often took the coach (Euro lines) from Avignon in Der Provence, all the way to Oberhausen in Germany. 17+ hours. I was 25 years younger back then, and it was hard enough as it was. Can't imagine doing it now though. Well done. Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. 😮
Your detailed videos are great - a good summary of exactly what journeys entail - so it is good preparation for travellers..
I did a coach from Victoria to Durham once in the late 80s, never again. You could still smoke on the coach in the back rows but we managed to get the front seats with a great view of the road, only to find the driver puffed on his pipe for a good bit of the journey! Also did the cross channel megabus thing, the fact it went from Place Stalingrad says it all.
That's an adorable background pic of Alicja on your phone..
..(Then again, just about ANY pic of Alicja is adorable..LOL)
Tough journey but excellent coverage, thanks.
Well done Steve i did 🎉some long trips many years ago
588 Nx victoria to Inverness which does not run anymore.
and Megabus to Aberdeen.
Well done getting to Dundee your channel ia such as inspiration to me i always look forward to your videos Paul in kent
Nice videos Steve👌, it feels like I'm traveling!😀 👍👍👍👍 from Sweden 🇸🇪
Yay a glimpse of my home city, albeit the outskirts at Redbridge! Thank you, feeling a bit homesick now. Love your videos on a Saturday.
Although I dont enjoy watching you suffer, I DO enjoy your videos...if you ever deside to travel a bit southern, I d love to meet you...Chris, Thessaloniki, Greece
I just uploaded a 21-hour-journey vlog yesterday, well done for surviving such a long trip :)
Tremendous Steve, thats some journey, some stamina and wise to end the journey on the train
You bought 2 coach seats.🤗 Brilliant idea, why didn't I think of that?
Well it`s now official, Alicja & Scott are troopers & you are a lightweight 😄😄 lol. Cool vlog Steve, keep them coming, keep me entertained 👍👍
Enjoyed this video Steve used to work above Victoria Bus Station now living in Gdynia Poland for last 8 years honestly don’t miss London !!
Bournemouth University is mostly in Bournemouth, Poole is just another outlying campus.
Nice. Thank you.
Thanks Steve that was a brilliant effort 👍
Armature mate, try a coach journey from Perth to Cairns Australia but I must admit that was 30 years ago and as we about the same age I will give you credit as I don't think I could of cope with your journey. Also Scott is just a legend I am astounded at his endurance.
Amazing journey Steve, thanks for sharing. I feel your pain. I can’t spend more than a few hour without being able to stretch my legs.
Nice to see a quick shot of Battersea there Steve, where I grew up, went to school and lived till I was in my mid 20s.😊
Nice day to travel!
Hi....I love coach journeys.
Great vlog😎☯️🌱
What you do for bringing us these terrific videos about places, I will never be able to visit, Steve! The editing was so perfect, that although "just" travelling, it was interesting and never had a dull moment. Your commentary contributes to that. You are a genius Sir! BTW, my longest bus trip was Sydney to Adelaide, 24h if I remember it right, but with two longer stops in the evening and for breakfast, so it doesn't really count. Great experience, but I was 20 years younger then.....
10:43 is that Lee Mack “pretend busking?” 😂
I'd have bailed out way before. Well done Steve. I remember a film from way back. The Big Bus. That would have been handy.
All night drivers will know about "white line fever" though it has many names. Its a form of trance state. I used to do newcastle to wolverhampton every night, it takes some getting used to but I loved it.
Recognised that walkway immediately, Embankment up to Charing Cross Station, now you’re in my neck of the woods!
You're a brave man to do that longer coach journey. You need a well deserved rest after that mammoth effort. 🍻 & A few pints.
I once got the overnight coach from Edinburgh to London. Never again. And the dislike of Victoria Bus Station is not irrational. It is a loathsome place
Well done Steve
That’s a long time on a bus
Don’t think I could do it
Great video as always
Remember the double deck coaches Newcastle-London - they took 5 hours and it seemed so long. At least the Newcastle bus always had stotties for sale which kept you well fuelled. Once tried the overnight London-Amsterdam coach which was ok but little sleep. I was young (and broke) in those days.
Excellent editing
My Longest ever coach journey? Even though I had a couple of hours interlude at Victoria coach station, just short enough to make it inadvisable to leave the station, it took me 44 hours to travel from Katowice in Poland to Leeds, That was in the early 90s, thank heaven, I was younger and much fitter then.
The Taylor Swift reference was not on my bingo card but really appreciated!!
As your title says after the video I'll need to go for a nap, it's a good thing I'm watching just before bed :)
Reminds me of my experience of Waterloo station almost 25 years ago I went around the whole station at 11 am looking for a cold bottle of coke. I had to go around to finally my sixth shop to finally find one. Although there was an old fire station around the corner that turned into a burger joint that I loved.
Your hatred of Victoria Coach Station is entirely valid. The last time I passed through there I was attacked and chased by homeless lady with mental issues. I had to be protected by two burly police officers...
Stave that was one hell of a Journey on that bus I think I wud av bailed at Notts and got on the train well done dude 🙂👍🇬🇧✌️
Some going that mate well done 👏🏻
Well done steve … took a bus trip from My home town of Perth to spain years ago ..never again
Well done for the overnight coach trip. I did years ago from London/Edinburgh return and vowed to never ever do that again I'd rather walk . In those days it was the old SMT with one stop at Watford Gap services for 15 minutes, with the same problem as you, no knee space and cramped narrow seats. But it did occur to me that you could have used Cross country trains from Bournemouth to Birmingham and change for another XC to Aberdeen ( just a thought). Cheers
Long distance bus rides are not for the faint of heart or struck by slipped discs ones! Back in 1990, when I was young and beautif...
…when I was young, I went from Cologne to Victoria bus station. It was under £40 (in those day's money DM 100.-) We started at 4PM at Cologne central station, got on the ferry around midnight and finally arrived around 6am the next day. My brain was wiped blank of all infos stored there in the previous 19 years! 😵💫 (which I claim as excuse for my complete failure to speak or understand any English on arrival despite having received A and A+ in the two English courses I had in school.)
So you're a stronger man than me. Me, I probably would only go "Ook, ook!" after such a trip any more.🥴
More of the same please! Loved the editing, great job 👍❤
I myself been to London many times
Brave man! I did a 7 hour journey on Flixbus from Krakow to Budapest and decided then and there it’s not for me. Especially the no breaks policy which means you are forced to use the onboard toilet, which was cramped and disgusting. I’d much rather be on a train.
Brilliant video again Steve 👍Stefan John
I think it's time you invested in a bit of kit to make some of these journeys more manageable. On my last big trip round Europe I discovered just how effective a good blackout sleep mask with built in headphones can be, especially on 20 hout train journeys! They're lightweight enough and pack down very well. I'd also suggest an inflatable neck nest or pillow. As you say in your notes, don't get the front seats behind the driver if you want any legroom. I'm sure Scott will be suitably empathetic.
Who's Scott?
@@RichardFelstead1949 Trains, Planes, everything
I once took a coach from Victoria to Athens. Two and a half days!
I love front seats
I feel your pain. I couldn’t have done that journey in those cramped seats. My trip to Orkney from Birmingham, Edinburgh, Aberdeen was bad enough, it’s not the outward journey but the return that’s the worst. Although I did go from Birmingham to Italy by coach in May & I couldn’t sleep even though we had comfort breaks I was frazzled by the time I got to the hotel. That was over 25hrs on a coach not including the ferry crossing.
I done Amsterdam to Glasgow on Flixbus in June, with a change over at Victoria coach station, the uk leg wasn’t too bad but the European leg was hell on earth.
Hello Steve, I know just how you feel after that time on the bus - many years ago I did a Melbourne to Sydney bus trip - a numb bum ride!!
Ahh Steve I didn't envy you in this one! Dundee to Kirkcaldy via Leuchars yesterday 2 carriages and absolutely rammed with freshers week . Kirkcaldy to Burntisland 9 carriages almost empty 😂. Nice one 👍
