    Trying to figure out how to do this alteration with a sleeve and the answer to why you measure to a 1/16th” of an inch is because you are a master of your trade and you demand perfection. ❤ ❤❤

    Thank you so very much for all the information you have given us.I cannot help but ask that you explain the reason the customer needs this alteration, as this will put my mind to rest, as this alteration will make the armhole closer up on the underarm.

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ivone! You said it yourself. Before the alteration the dress sat too low and you could almost see the bra coming out from the armhole. This is very common. Cheers!

    How do you adjust the straps before sewing when one side ends up wider than the other?

    How do you top stitch down lining to the seam at the armhole?

    Wonderful video. I am new to sewing and want to do a similar thing to one of my wife's dresses. I could follow your method for shortening the dress and lining shoulder straps, and for re-sewing the neckline (inside out) without top-stitching. But i could not follow how to resew (close) the arm hole dress to lining without a top stitch. What did I miss?

      Thank you! At the time, 8:06 , we start talking about this. However, at 8:55 , this is where I explain it. You have to put your hand in between the dress and the lining and look for the piece you have to sew, you fold it first like if you want to do a top stitch, then you pinch it with your fingers and pull it out. Then finally you can sew it! It’s really tricky when you do it the first time, so be patient :)

      How much would you charge for this?

    Would you do a video showing how to let out a mans suit jacket that is too snug.

  • @steflondon88
    @steflondon88 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How would it be different, if you did it by hand?

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be pretty much the same process but you would have to be very prudent in making sure that the stitches hold everything in as hand-stitching is more fragile.

    Thank you for this video. Would like to see tutorials in actual time and not fast forward - it’s too quick and not showing so many needed details.
