  • If you are short like me you will know the pain of all store bought clothes that are too long. In this tutorial I will show you how to take in a lined shoulder seam. This technique will of course also work for tops and sleeveless shirts as well as dresses.
    Materials needed:
    needle and thread
    sewing machine
    scissors
    seamripper
    pins
    and some patience ;)

    I needed this so badly and I'm thankful for your video! I was struggling with meeting the more narrow bit with the wider bit, but watching you work through it was very helpful.
    And, you looked beautiful in your dress. It fit you to a 't' after your alteration!!

    Oh, my! What a lifesaver you are. My granddaughter needed the straps take up (which were just like what you showed) on her very first prom dress. Thankfully, there were not sequins or beads. But I did just as you said, and it turned out perfect. Bring on some more sewing tips. I will be your biggest fan!

    Excellent tutorial! I am 5'2" and often have to shorten, but only if it's worth it. It is a lot of work. I had straps on a dress that where even and I reduced it buy 1". I was able to leave one side attached along the armhole, pin, stitch, cut excess and hand sew the open end so the stitching wouldn't show. Very nicely done and it shows what a difference a well fitting garment makes. Thanks so much:)

  • @anniematthew2608

    Thank you for the video🎉. I took a dress to 2 different seamstress & neither did the alteration correctly so the top layer of fabric puckers a little below the shoulder so I’m researching so I can attempt the alteration myself. Like mom used to say - if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself! Your dress alteration turned out great, the dress fits you beautifully!

    Thank you so much for this video. I will try this out on a jumpsuit I have - I'm pear shaped and struggle to find jumpsuits that fit both at the bottom and top. The top ends up being loose around the armpits and baggy on the neck line.

    Thanks for a very good tutorial. I’ve just made a lined dress an the front is not sitting right so I need to adjust at the shoulders.

  • @Agent.99
    @Agent.99 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Height-wise, I’m a ladies 10 or 12, but width-wise I’m a 16. In order to have enough room in my bust, I have to buy a size 16 dress, but I find they are too long in the armhole and torso, making the waist too long also. When the waistline hits my hips, it can’t go down further to hang straight and the back of the dress bunches up and wrinkles with extra fabric. Taking up the shoulders as you have so succinctly shown here, generally solves most of the issues.
