    Hey Travis, there's actually another way, with the .mmd export, with the paid plugin in Daz, aniMate2. Save the obj, export an .mmd, import the obj in MD, import the mmd. Obj with animation with the correct anatomy. Very easy. I love that it maintains the bendings and the actual morphs from Daz. Can't wait for your new tutorial!

    • @daviddmotion
      @daviddmotion 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do have to keyframe the different poses in Daz, btw. But the rest is pretty neat.

    Looks great, Travis! I’ve been using Jay Versluis’ method which involves an .mdd I think it’s called and then an OBJ sequence to get it back into Daz. Which is extremely compute heavy. This looks way easier!!

    • @TravisDavids
      @TravisDavids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm never heard of that method although I never go from MD back to Daz.

    • @daniewwerssGoodOne
      @daniewwerssGoodOne 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TravisDavids oh yeah... I guess this method doesn’t actually export the animated garment back out... so guess I’ll still have to pump out OBJ sequences if I wanna render in Daz.

    • @SexycuteStudios
      @SexycuteStudios 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll only need that method for an animation. If you're rendering a 2-D static, you can export the draped clothing in the finished pose, and drop it into Studio. Although, I suggest texturing it first in MD. Unless you want to spend time in UV mapping elsewhere, and if you do so you may have to retopo. MD is horrible when it comes to working out the seams.
      And if you go through the trouble using MD-animated cloth for use in Studio, you might as well go all the way and learn how to make clothing for Studio avatars.

    What do you think about exporting Alembic from Daz for MD?

    • @TravisDavids
      @TravisDavids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As far as I know there is no default method in Daz to export Alembic. Unless there is a way to do this? I know that when it comes to exporting out an animated garment from MD i always use Alembic HDF5. If i want to create an alembic from a Daz character, i export out of Daz as an FBX first, then in Cinema 4D i import the FBX and save it out of C4D as Alembic HDF5 (Legacy). Then I have a prefect working alembic version of the file.

  • @nevarran
    @nevarran 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been using the Collada animation method from an older video of yours. Is there any reason why you're no longer using it?
    The only thing that I don't remember about it is if I was able to switch back and forth between the poses.

    • @TravisDavids
      @TravisDavids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still use the Collada method as well :) Just wanted to showcase 3 other methods as well in case one method doesn't work out for someone they can always fall back on other solutions.

    • @TravisDavids
      @TravisDavids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By the way, exactly what I did with the FBX can be done with the collada, the anatomy between the files still looks a bit wonky and you will always need the obj to drape your clothing on for the final pose so it's draped on the correct looking anatomy.

    • @nevarran
      @nevarran 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm Using Daz 3D 4.14 and MD9. Is it due to the MD version?
