You are supposed to drain the oil cooler as well when doing an oil change, it is very important. You can blow the engine if you don't. You have to remove the panel in front of the one with the 4 10mm to access the oil cooler drain plug... That drain plug is 14mm.
Hey. Yes. That was performed the first time I did my oil change at 500 miles. I skipped it this time as I will be draining my oil once again in about 500 miles to replace it with Amsoil. I'll take care of it then as it will be a different brand of oil. If you're waiting 5k+ miles to change your oil..yes, it's needed. In my case.. I would have changed my oil three times before 2k miles lol.
I once built a performance engine for my cousin. I informed him that he needed a break in period. When he came to pick up his vehicle first thing he does is a huge smoking burn out... I guess he didn't believe in breaking periods...
Hey Doris, Im a service technician for Chrysler and an important tip is that when you do your oil changes on the Hellcat, you need to drain oil from the oil cooler valve plug underneath the car.
I skipped that step with this oil change. I took care of that the first time at 500mls and will drain my oil again in 500 miles. so I'll take care of it then as I will be using a different brand oil this time around.

Doris don't make a "V8 Engine Warranty Void" sequel. I work in the Automotive field, the OEM recommended EVERYTHING is the only fail-safe you have. Strongly suggest you use what the manual/warranty calls for while the car is still under said warranty. Enjoy your new ride to the fullest
I agree 100% ,no reason to void warrantys on that car,especially that there are other cars in the garage to play with.That redeye would remain stock and I would enjoy the shit out of it,with the peace of mind my warranty is in tact.
Well.. it might be a second sequel lol. It won't be for sometime though. I will add Amsoil after my two events. I will also add a catch can. None of those will be a problem. The Redeye will be stock for some time, power wise. I first plan on suspension work (drag), better tire\wheel set up and put it on a diet lol. All of those changes should help with the mph of the car and get it to hook right. I plan to enjoy it! Cheers!

hiya, just your friendly dodge tech here. when you do an oil change on a hellcat or demon you have to drain the oil cooler too. theres a 15 mil on the cooler that you have to pull and its above the passenger side of the belly pan that she took off to do the oil change.
You are wise. I'm a Chrysler engine development engineer of over 32 years experience and a friend and mentee (is that a word) I trained actually did the development of the Hellcat engine. We always use a controller run-in for the engines before we test them (we don't use the words break in for now obvious reasons). 500 miles at average road speed is bearly 12.5 hours, our run-in procedure is to put at least 20 hours on the engine before our first full throttle run and then we continue the run-in performing another full throttle run about every two hours until friction has stabilized. This is to slowly wear down the rough spots (asperity) until the parts mate properly and don't grab when they get hot and grow (remembering that aluminum pistons get hotter and grow faster than the cast iron bore. Well I hope you enjoy your Hellcat and I look forward to seeing your track results, and oh by the way thanks for paying my pension.

Hi Doris, Great job on being patient with the break in, and changing the oil at 500, 1500 miles.A friendly FYI, the oil cooler has a drain plug that's the same size as the oil pan drain plugIt holds about half a quart, and they like it when this gets drained when an oil change event happens.Cheers!
A lot of patience lol. Yes, I drained the cooler the first time around at 500 miles. Since I'm using the same oil, I skipped that step for my 1500mile oil change. I will drain oil once again at 2k miles to Amsoil. By then I would have tracked and taken my car to the 1/2 event. So I will make sure to drain the cooler since I am putting a different brand of oil. Great video to sum it up cleanly. BTW... the engine rebuild: take pictures of EVERYTHING as you go for references. I’ve been researching; when rebuilding the engine use new head fasteners (experience). ARP fasteners is recommending some of their products for what you have in mind. Personally I haven’t used them so idk. I can’t express enough to slow down, be patient, take your time, most important BE SAFE!!! Merry Christmas to you and Chris!!!!!

5:30 , 5:55 , 6:56 , 8:26 made watching this video well worth it. FYI remove battery cables and reset the ECM. This will reset the learn process on they way you normally drive. New cars learn the driving habits to give you a better experience. If you reset the ECM it will adapt to your driving habits quicker.

Dont forget to drain the oil cooler next time you do your oil change. Oh and wait till you start modding it, my Redeye is almost 1000whp and it's a blast to drive.

As much as you like how the redeye takes off, you should try an electric car. No hesitation off the line at all. The speed is insane. I’ve seen many cars smoke every car at that track in its class.
When you get a better feel for the car turn off traction control completely and if you can stability control then slowly ease into it. It's even more wheel spin and it's all you controlling the car. It can be dangerous but it's a lot of fun, gives that old school feeling with brute power and no computers. Have fun.

BTW... the engine rebuild: take pictures of EVERYTHING as you go for references. I’ve been researching; when rebuilding the engine use new head fasteners (experience). ARP fasteners is recommending some of their products for what you have in mind. Personally I haven’t used them so idk. I can’t express enough to slow down, be patient, take your time, most important BE SAFE!!! Merry Christmas to you and Chris!!!!!

When pouring oil or any other liquid out of a bottle that has an offset opening rotate the bottle so the opening is on top. No drips or glugging!!!!

5:30 , 5:55 , 6:56 , 8:26 made watching this video well worth it. FYI remove battery cables and reset the ECM. This will reset the learn process on they way you normally drive. New cars learn the driving habits to give you a better experience. If you reset the ECM it will adapt to your driving habits quicker.

So awesome, love to see you enjoying your passion in life. I had a WS6 trans am in 2000 and drove it hard from day one. Always had a cold start tick in the valve train. You did the right thing by extending the break in. To bad cars can't smile because yours would grin from fender to fender!

As much as you like how the redeye takes off, you should try an electric car. No hesitation off the line at all. The speed is insane. I’ve seen many cars smoke every car at that track in its class.

When you get a better feel for the car turn off traction control completely and if you can stability control then slowly ease into it. It's even more wheel spin and it's all you controlling the car. It can be dangerous but it's a lot of fun, gives that old school feeling with brute power and no computers. Have fun.

I used my red key for break in. I punched it here and there and drove it. It has just over 3k klm. I’ll do the oil change at 5k. Wow you have many nice cars. How may proposals do you get a day ? Lol.
