Laughed out loud, when you talked about working on stainless steel. Dear me, what I have used and done on my workbench would certainly shock some people. We are still alive though, so are the kids.
I loved your tie dye shirts! I bought a tie dyed tee online . It turned out so well and it almost looks like a stained glass window on the front. It is also in darker colors. You are a jack of all trades my dear! TFS!!!♥
You are a woman of many talents , I worked in a commercial kitchen for many years , stainless steel is so easy to keep clean and sanitised . When I used to make sourdough crackers I use my pizza cutter and leave the cut biscuits on the baking paper , just side the lot onto my baking tray and bake .
This cracker dough was super super soft, like almost not transferable, I do the same with standard cracker dough, this was just a really odd texture, very hard to work with! I love my stainless steel bench, though photos always look better on the wood lol
You're so very talented and creative nyssa!! I mentioned this recipe before but I think you, darryl and the kids would like it! And it's low or maybe even no carb? Broccoli salad. It's just raw broccoli chopped up smallish, bacon bits, almonds or whatever nut if you prefer, grated cheese-maybe not for the kids but you and hubby. Onion and whatever veggies you guys like. It's a mayo and vinegar dressing. Now it calls for sugar but I think you have a sweetener that you can use or just leave it. It's so delcious!!!!!
I think that if you’re an ice cream family, it would pay itself back, partly on portion control too! You have limited made at a time therefore eat limited. But fancier stuff doesn’t cost much more to make than the basics! :)
Think I would find your diet boring too and would miss the sauces, but good for you for sticking with it. I would definately miss bread. Have tried the cloud bread (egg whites) and wasn't a fan, but I gave it a go ❤
I'll give it another 8 weeks and see how I go, and then reassess :D I'm not a fan of the cloud bread either, there is a bread product on the diet doctor I don't mind, I need to make again, we had that many years ago, and the chaffles are good, but everything gets a bit repetitive
Curried mince would be a different flavour. Mix a curry slurry with curry powder, stevia (?) and vinegar. Browned mince and onions, curry slurry and them whatever else you want to simmer? Thank you for the video Nyssa. It doesn’t seem like any kind of system works, just show us what you’re doing and we like it.
I cook 1 kg mince with an onion and a tomato, salt, pepper and mix sour cream through at the end. Sometimes add a small tablespoon of oyster sauce if it’s still too bland. It’s more a ketovoire meal but at least it’s eatable and much better and less carbs than before.
I think our main issue is the lack of a few things, dairy included, trying to scale up the amount we needed with the new eating style etc, we've run out of a lot of things and we replace it to a degree at the local store, but everything there is so expensive :S
You could make a lasagne with eggplant or zucchini instead of the pasta. I feel for you, you seem to be struggling with this new food style! I'd be missing the yummy breads and flatbreads! I hope this is actually helping you both! You seem very down in the dumps! I love the tie dye baby clothes!
So good to hear you talk about garden harvesting... i wasn't thinking about egglife not being available in Australia... I know you are eating this way for Darryl.. is it helping him?
Yes, he's lost a bunch of kg and cms, healthwise, we're still working through the change, so we'll see if it helps some of his inflammation/disposition lol. But yes, he's benefiting from it enough that even if I don't stick to it he probably will!
Hi Nyssa , well all that content look very interesting , your new receipes for your Keto carnivor diet... As always another great video.. Your family are so lucky that you are just a whiz in your kitchen... Has anyone been into a commercial kitchen. ...YEP STAINLESS STEEL... easy to clean and sanitise, so yours works just fine... just a ? , with the powdered egg whites what do you use them for... ??? I have seen the egg whites in the carton but not powdered ones... happy weekend 😊😊
I’d love the recipe for the crepe egg white thing that you put the beef on. Please stay cool. We just reached 40 in my neck of the woods in South Aus. My 1 year old now has a temp. 😮💨 poor bubba can’t catch a break. From ear infection to a temp which will be another ear infection. We both enjoy watching your videos together. My older 3, just being pains. 😮💨 Thanks for posting another video. Happy December.
we've run really low on dairy as well, I didn't know how to decide how much etc, I think that would definitely help, the sour cream for example helps meat seem a little less 'dry'
It’s hard to keep to the bland. You’re great doing so to encourage D with the dietary changes. Have you noticed any changes for yourself? Had a reprieve this week from having to go on meds as my blood tests came back improved. Thank goodness. Now 6 months until the next check but got to work on the diet still. Got to reduce all the dairy. Woolies shelves are getting less and less as we are into three weeks now of the distribution strike. Kmart this week have all their craft kits reduced.
I'd be curious to know how dates and prunes would fare on the diet? It would sure open up a few snacky options, especially mixed with peanut butter or blue cheese/cream cheese/bacon style things...I guess the same with figs too. One of my favourite salads is a fetta, prawn, mango and coriander mixed with whatever greens. Another is simply grilled chicken, shaved parmesan, spinach, roast capsicum, red onion and a lemon mayo. In terms of crunch to those salads, can you smash up some of the pork crackle (like crouton size, not as breadcrumbs). I know I've seen people do the jelly pack mixed with yoghurt as a high protein snack, could you do it with gelatin and fruit instead of jelly? Also, have you considered broths as a meal, just no added noodles, kind of like a phò or laksa? Or even as egg drop soup etc? I find I tolerate them better in the hot weather too as they are light but nourishing. Or w waldorf salad without grapes and served with salmon? Maybe instead of making the crepe things, just make omelettes and egg bite cups. I dunno lol. Great vlog as always!!
I love salads, but unfortunately we just don’t have salad ingredients much, they aren’t long lasting and they’re expensive to buy locally. We are looking at setting up some hydroponic beds again though which would help :) Prunes and dates are very high in natural sugars and therefore high in carbs so a no go in the current iteration of the diet but I will adapt it as needed after sticking to the basics first :) We actually don’t snack much, so whilst I made a few things that could be classified as snacks (crackers and the cheesecakes/icecream) they’re not our norm in general. I do make jelly with gelatin around christmas for our trifle etc! And will def be trying a low sugar one for D and I :D I’m not a huge broth fan, I know a lot of people can just drink it as is but I’m really a broth is the base to a soup kinda person hehe and I like my soups thicker. I feel like I’ve gone off eggs a bit on this diet tbh, and I don’t know why, I was actually saying to D we need to use up a bunch of eggs this weekend because we have a surplus and we just haven’t been eating as many as normal. It’s odd!
No, there’s a lot of connective tissue and silver skin etc in the trim, some pieces are better than others, but really we do just buy it for mince and if we get a bit of stirfry or diced beef out of it then it’s a boon :)
@@OurSmallFootprint ahh, bugger!! I'm only throwing ideas around lol, not wanting to come across any other way! I was more thinking along the lines of devils on horseback kind of thing. I get where you're coming from re eggs, I go through phases of craving them, then all of q sudden even the smell of an egg would turn me off. I understand about the broth thing too, and it is time consuming. One thought I did have was broc and cauli cheese as a side to the meat? It's certainly a new diet you are taking on, and I take my hat off to you for sticking to it for the time period for support!
@@TheLifeOfAliInAustralia I have done the cheesy broc/cauli a bit, that is definitely a winer, and even the cauli rice with some garlic cream sauce and a bit of chicken/beef, that works really well, its hard, wnating to keep it somewhat simple but also interesting enough to keep me eating hehe.
I know you said you don’t like frozen veg when not in stews, but how about stir fry of mince with the veg when you don’t have fresh veg anymore? We used to have mince seasoned just with salt and garlic powder (or fresh garlic) and cooked with corn but I think corn won’t work for you?
Most of our frozen veg mixes have corn and carrot in it, I didn't think about it lol, and they're higher carb. I stirfry them with noodles etc all the time for the kids, but we've been leaning into more the carnivore aspect without the fresh veg, is a good time to do it :)
I teied low carb for a while (ibs). I remember making pikeleta from cottage cheese and egg whites and wrap breads. I hated them all. They tasted nothing like what they were replicating and just loke when ive been gluten free I prefer to go without and stick with whole foods. Im not carb free but i definitely feel it when we eat too much bread and pasta which sucks because im definitely a carbivore at heart!
Yeah, I'm not overly keen on trying fo find replacements because they never live up.. its finding alternatives to use that aren't trying to be something else I think that is important, and more sustainable!
Are you concerned about your fat intake with the blobs of butter on meat? High blood pressure etc! Lychees here at $15 kilo, mangoes KP only ones I buy are $2. Love the fruits at this time of year. Have a great day.
The trade off for the reduction of carbs is to increase the fat content and have it sort of 50/50 with the protein :). Calories from a different source and all that :).
Personally, all my numbers are best when I eat carnivore. Weight down, etc. But I hate it. I just hate carnivore ... Especially due to living with an unrequited carBivore!
blood pressure tends to reduce when you eat higher fat, moderate protein, low carb, I know mine did and I ate that way for over 3 years!. I also improved my kidney function. Everything we have been taught about dietary fat is wrong due to big money influences and corruption in the scientific community. I no longer eat low carb but eat lower carb still and I value good quality protein/fat over fruit and vegetables.
I just seen the cheese crackers you made. There is a mom that makes cheese it crackers idk if they r low carb but I know you can make it low carb. Her channel is justthebells10 . Her cheese crackers always work out maybe that will help
Your keto carnivore diet is interesting, I love how you're adapting recipes, but isn't all that meat, cheese, butter and saturated fat, and lack of fibre bad for your heart. I have issues with high cholesterol as it is, so I definitely don't think it's something I could do.
There’s a lot of studies out there about it having a positive effect on high cholesterol etc but every person is going to tolerate things differently! Plant foods can be inflammatory to some people and cutting them out can be the answer, whereas I also know plenty of vegans who swear by cutting meat out for its inflammatory effect on them! I don’t have high cholesterol and my bp issues seem to have been a stress or something related occurrence because in general it’s back to normal, etc so other than being overweight which I’ve been my entire adult life, I don’t have any risk factors for giving it a go :)
Laughed out loud, when you talked about working on stainless steel. Dear me, what I have used and done on my workbench would certainly shock some people. We are still alive though, so are the kids.

Thoroughly enjoyed this video, it's so refreshing to see how you live and cook

Always love your videos! The silicon chocolate chip mold is a new level of awesome.
