I personally think that by pushing through it each day it makes it easier to do so, I could wallow in it, but then I wouldn't be improving anything, mental state, health, kids lives etc, I have my days where I struggle, but I keep moving forward knowing that most of what I deal with will never go away, so its not worth wallowing, if that makes sense :D
Please please remember that you didn't get to where you are in 8 weeks, you aren't going to heal in 8 weeks. Stick it out. Give it at least 6 months. You're looking fantastic. Love watching you guys!
Thanks for sharing your journey! It's disheartening when you put so much effort in and don't feel like you have any results. I truly believe as women our cortisol levels are a factor we are so stressed and having to 'do it all' means we just struggle with many things.
@@OurSmallFootprint absolutely - last year i had a uterine polyp removed and a D&C for a full clean out and an IUD inplanted they said it will help me 'balance out' . Generally I feel fine but I'm struggling with weight now which I know is also a peri menopause thing just over it - I do care about my weight as i teach zumba and i want to be able to move well I keep trying , each day is a new day
@@FrugalFunMumperi menopause is a monster! I gained 20 lbs in literally like a week!! And I was tiny. It was so crazy - just one day everything changed. I’m working on it day to day but I am sooooo tired all the time now it’s insane. It’s like geez can’t I get a break 😂
Inflammation and peri menopause went hand in hand for me too , Stress is the biggest trigger for me but also really sensitive to food additives, vegetable oils , sugar and refined/ white flour, Higher protein works well for me without worrying too much about carbs , It is all stressful enough budgeting and cooking from scratch !
@@HungryHobbit12 the OBGYN was like it's really going to help having an IUD - I wasn't given much of a choice really as I was bleeding to death each period i thought na it's fine it's just the final clean out before the end - yeah nearly the end of me LOL
Nyssa you are doing great a total change of diet is a monumental ask without having to cook the usual for your family. The children have the most healthy well balanced thought out diet all due to your love and care ❤ Understandable your feeling a bit "" whatever "" at the moment GIRL give yourself some self love 💗💗💗 As always a pleasure to watch 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Love from the UK x
Thanks for sharing your health journey Every thing is harder when you have to consider your children and budget . All the best for Christmas and the new year, hope things work out for you both. 👍
I enjoy all you share, I think you’re amazing! You own your lifestyle and I hope you are very proud of all you do!! To worry about those who criticize, is sad, and I hope you don’t allow them to waste your time!😊
Not sure if it’s related to some of your recent health challenges or food changes, but you look better/healthier/less stressed? Not sure the right word. Whatever changes you’ve implemented I think are agreeing with you
I think its really hard to see results when you are right there in it, you need the distance, and some of you guys are seeing things that I just can't :)
Thank you for sharing your side of keto carnivore and the struggles, its something not everyone shares. Daryl has done amazing but so have you hun, we are always the hardest on ourselves and see the changes last. Once you tweak things tou will see more changes.
I was so hoping you were feeling better. You look great. I was on a journey of health for 3 years. I learned what worked for me. Feeling lazy & tired lately, so I need to get back to it. Happy Holidays to you & your family.
I've been noticing the same thing. Nyssa I think you're doing great! This is coming from someone who has had weight issues all my life. I had what I call my "thin years" with many more my heavy years.
Hi Nyssa you need to do what's best for you, I am with you, as my insta messages, I've spent years trying to get some peace. I do enjoy your vlogmas and have followed you for a while. I just wish they'd invent that magic pill that takes the pain. Take care see you tomorrow Tam x
I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but as someone who went low carb, keto and then carnivore, it wasn't until I was fairly strict carnivore until I saw changes in my inflammation/auto-immune/conditions/insulin resistance. When you've been battling these things for a while it sometimes takes extreme measures to fix. For me, strict is whole foods carnivore. Meat, butter, bacon, eggs and small amounts of cream/dairy. I had to cut out the faux foods (keto substitutes for the carby foods) and sweeteners. I still have coffee but I have long blacks with a tablespoon of pure cream. The difference in my pain levels was night and day.
I do think that an elimination carnivore will be important to try but not over christmas hehe, we'll keep going how we are for this 8 weeks and then post christmas when I've got more of a handle on how much we go through etc, I'll see how I'm going and potentially go that way, it was never my intention to rely on sweeteners or anything, its just the wrong time of year to not have them too hehe
Big wow on Daryl’s health journey! And Y O U too! I haven’t been able to watch your videos for a few months and I’m floored. I’ve jumped on and You can see it very much within your face…. If you want to see how you are going jump on and look back 2 months, keep it up girl, I’m with you health is the focus, and change physically is the result.
Wow! Go Darryl! Nyssa, I have noticed that you are losing size. Give it time as far as health goes. You have had chronic/autoimmune illnesses for a very long time. It can take a few years for better results regarding health. It's more like a healing journey. Weightloss/size reduction is a bonus. 😊🎉❤
That's great news about Darryl feeling well on your way of eating and continuing. I'm sorry you didn't feel relief from pain and inflammation with it. Every person is just so different . Overall our family does best on a meditteranean(ish) way of eating and lifestyle but with some on low and one on no alliums . My boys thrived on GAPS when they were young and my youngest still loosely follows an AIP and we go back to full AIP when she has excess inflammation. Expense prevents us from eating a lot of things , we've had to figure out how to be healthy and keep costs down. It's a tricky balance . I hope you find something that gives relief and doesn't cost a fortune. Great job committing to it . Thank you for sharing the real ❤❤
GIRL ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Please go get a mirror! You look amazing! You have clearly worked hard and you should celebrate every step of the way! Embrace your achievements. We’re cheering you on 🎉
Very interesting Nyssa. I tried Keto but failed miserably. It wasn't for me. I'm like you. Since I had my daughter 21 years ago my weight has stayed the same, not gained, not lost. I avoid the scales because I have massive hormonal fluctuations plus I have uterine fibroids which make me look pregnant. You do look different though on screen so I think whatever you are doing is working. Thanks for sharing your journey and updating us.
I haven't seen your videos over the last month, purely down to little time for youtube. I can't believe the difference in you. You look healthier, your eyes are brighter and you can really notice the weight you have lost. As a vegetarian, your diet is my idea of hell...BUT, it seems to really suit your body as the differences are sooooo massive x
Hi Nyssa everything is so expensive no matter what diet your on looking good Darrell great job i only drink water and i agree its so boring i only have 2 cups of tea a day take care 🥰🌹🎄⛄
As someone who did keto for 4 years and carnivore for one year I never ate that much cheese or cream. If I did I definately would've stalled weight loss, had skin and inflammation issues. Also from my personal experience almonds are very oxalate heavy and caused me many inflammation issues. Regarding electrolytes it's super easy to make your own. I would suggest just buying a good quality magnesium tablet. I use magsup/magmin and take 2 a day. I also make sole water (basically rock salt in water dissolved to the point of saturation) and take a few tablespoons a day. But you need to build up to it and find what amount you need. Some people can't stomach it and add it to ice cold water with a tablespoon of lemon juice and sip on it.
I think it looks like I eat more cheese and cream than I do with the way I show what we're eating (other than chaffles, we are consuming a lot of those atm) But I've never had issues with dairy :) My entire household does, but I haven't. I think the plan will be to buy the individual ingredients an dmix up our own electrolytes once we've finished the ones we've got :D
Hey Nyssa. Sorry you aren’t feeling the efforts of your diet changes. I’m sure there must be changes in your blood pressure at least. I have not found anything to help with my inflammation either. I have lost 55 lbs since cancer surgery but that is definitely not the way to lose it. Every once in a while I need a sugar snack so I do. Enjoy your Christmas snacks and see where it goes. Sending love to you and your family ❤
I agree my fiancé are gonna start that diet soon. He’s almost 57 and I turn 52 next Wednesday. He wants to lose weight and not be in pain. I just don’t want to see if it reduces pain. But your hubby in only two months has lost tons. I showed my bf your hubbys before and after pics. Thanks because it’s gave him a boost of hope.
He definitely has had great results and is feeling better as well overall, it was a fairly simple swap out for him to change his eating and have those results and now he's going to add some exercise in as well and hopefully it will continue for him!
I can see you look different, in your face and neck. You look well. Perimenopause makes body change difficult and I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling better yet.
As I told you, I've lost lots of weight. For me, it was health as well. I can tell you that I ate artificial sweeteners for years. I cut out all of that. I started using coconut sugar. It's 50% on glysemic index compared to cane sugar at 100%. I have found that artificial sweeteners caused inflammation. That's just me, I'm telling you my experience. I think it's very important to have vegetables and fruit in your diet. As well as sourdough bread and fermented food. Also bone broth. I drink it daily and it makes me feel so good. Infused with garlic, tumeric, pepper, and what ever else i decide to make it with. ❤Moderation is the key to success for me. I'm so proud of you! You are doing such a great job at life! Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all!!!❤
I freeze heavy cream (actually all milk products) because i don't use enough before it goes off. I have found freezing in cubes or silicone molds makes it so much easier. Once frozen I pop them into freezer bags. It takes up less space and gives me single serve options without having to worry about separation issues
It's a big adjustment to make, you both are doing amazing no matter the progress. Congratulations Darryl 👏🏼 You have definitely lost inflammation around your neck where your necklace sits as well Nyssa 👏🏼 I've been doing carnivore for 10 weeks with Electrolytes and have lost 16kgs so far. I've never been one for red meat but i found the same thing with chicken and now i enjoy a variety of red meat. I had to buy pork rines toale schnitzels or I'd have given up. I did enjoy "normal" food for my mine and my daughter's birthdays, and will be enjoying food for Christmas 😂 Merry Christmas to your family from mine 🎉
It's working Nyssa! Your face looks slimmer, your shoulders too! Your neclaces are so loose now! Go girl! I do intermittent keto and monkfruit is my go to sweetener as it's a 1:1 replacement and for desserts, I make a cheesecake with almond flour, coconut and crushed walnuts in the base; cream cheese, heavy cream, vanilla and sprinkle with cinnamon on top. This filling is great on it's own in a small bowl with a couple of blueberries on top. Beef mince is amazingly satiating and usually cheaper-especially with you grinding your own from Costco. Burger patty, cooked in butter with cheese and scrambled eggs will keep you going for aaaaaaages. We are off grid too, with our own cattle. Have you thought of raising a weiner calf or two for meat? Young cattle prices are pretty good at present and weiners just need a fenced pasture. About an acre per cow if you don't want to supplement feed.
We love the diff cheesecakes that has definitely been a go to, I'm actually making a batch up today for D while I'm gone! I think I need to get into a better habit of having the mince available, maybe freezing it in smaller portions for just D and I to use when I mince some of it! I'm so used to freezing in bigger portions for the whole family kinda thing!
@@OurSmallFootprint it's harder when some are keto and some aren't isn't it? That is where costs blow out I think because when everyone is keto you will buy less. My kids make patty's for me as we are bagging. Freeze in portions with baking paper between. Not sure how much land you have exactly down there, but I know having our own cattle and getting a farm butcher in is sooooo much cheaper per kilo of meat than the stores, even factoring in the butcher and cold room hire. You may need to buy a freezer off of FB marketplace though!
@ we have no pasture unfortunately, so we have 20 acres but we’d have to buy in feed, so I don’t know that it would be cost effective, we also don’t have great water supply, maybe once we have a bore and the kids are a bit older!
Love the daily videos. Diet Sprite or 7up are on par with the diet Ginger Ale imo. If you can find Crystal Light; it's also sugar free and comes in many flavors; my favorite being lemonade. Looking forward to the shopping
I did regular old keto - found that wasn't quite as difficult to set -up for, and I kept things as simple as possible ! :P it's also good to keep in mind that whilst veg DOES have carbs, it also has a LOT of fibre which of course, is not absorbed by the body - so when calculating the carb counts for the day, we get to deduct the fibre grams from the carbs, and that makes a REAL difference ! Stick to greens mostly though for lower carbs overall - I always have a full cup of veg with my main meal, mostly the cauli/brocc mix (frozen cos I live alone so easier) and found that 1/2 an avocado with maybe a piece of feta cheese would do me for lunch ! I basically only needed 2 small meals a day once I got settled in...oh and keto coffee (yes butter and coffee) whizzed in the blender was breakfast - sometimes drop an egg in WHILE it's whizzing, so it doesn't end up as scrambled egg in there :P oh and another thing, if you normally get almond flour from the health food aisle, go check with the nuts section that's near the baking section - there's usually some there too and often WAY cheaper ! Same can happen with coconut oil ! I always ignore the health aisle and head for the cooking oils section for my pure unrefined coconut oil :P
I can make the equivalent almond meal as the nut section in the Thermomix which is great, but its that slightly finer blend that Costco sells that is awesome for some things! I do love green veg, but I'm just not a huge fan of frozen ones, which makes it hard we ate a lot at the beginning of the cycle when I had them fresh but by the end of the two months there's mostly only frozen left and I find them less tolerable :D D has been drinking bulletproof coffee, I'm still going with cream in mine for the moment hehe at least we're used to not sweetening them.
@@OurSmallFootprint I hate ALL frozen veg - except cauli & brocc and the mix of those two - just seems to stay a bit more natural in taste and texture than other veg...oh incidentally - on a whim, I went back and had a quick look at thumbnails from your older videos...going back over the last 2 years...ohhhh yeah...there's a definite, very noticeable difference in your face at least ! I only looked at thumbnails of your face so can't speak for anything else :P
That’s great Daryl lost so much weight. He looks great. I’m sorry you’re not feeling much difference. I’ve been on a very low fat, no red meat, no sugar, almost not carb diet but it’s for my liver reasons. I feel deprived. I have other health problems from all the Advil I took in earlier years. You can’t win sometimes
I definitely have some deprivation feelings at this point in the month, so I need to assess the groceries a bit better for the longer term, but hopefully I can get back to where I was at the beginning of the two months and still feeling like I had enough even if it wasn't what I would normally eat!
I hope you can find some natural solution to your pain. As someone who has one of those invisible diseases (I'm only mildly affected lately) that cause pain, I am in awe of what you do in a day. For me, going off dairy and gluten is what helped my inflammation, I miss cheese on pizza etc so I'm hoping to find some raw milk to try in the hope its not the dairy that affects me, its what they do to it, and if I cant find raw milk I will try dairy from a goat or sheep. I've had cheese made from sheep milk and it was quite nice - just have to get over my psychological aversion to anything other than cows milk Your husband is looking great, thats men though, last year my husband and I went on a strict diet for health reasons, and he lost weight, I stayed the same, so thats that 🙃
Costco in Tennessee USA has LiquidIV which is what they give in the Hospital here for electrolyte. I’m not sure about the taste or cost but it might be something you might want to look into.
You can get the Keto Chow or Trace liquid electrolytes and add them to your coffee. They are much cheaper and but are unflavored. If you choose to use the flavored drops you may want to check for maltodextrin and what artificial sugars are being used. It will spike your bloodsugar and pull you out of ketosis if you have too much depending on the sugar. I know you said that you get bored with food, but you may need to go on a much sticter diet to begin to get healing results you are looking for. Then add back in foods one at a time as you feel better. Maybe something like the lion diet to see if you can use diet to get a change (If you don't get a change on the lion diet then it is the meat that is the issue). One other thing to note that when you are using food to heal I have found that it can take time to see/feel the healing.
Yeah, I think the plan will be to make our own electrolyte mix and flavour it when needed with something sugar free! I had a cgm on for a while when I first started and nothing seemed to affect me, which was great! I think after christmas we'll consider doing a full elimination and then looking at what we can add back in :D
Aldi sells Almond flour now which can be a savings. Keto twins on TH-cam is fun to watch. Long life cream might help you out in a pinch I keep it in the pantry. You are both looking great.
Oh, I'll check it out and see what the pricing is in comparison to Costco! :D I have watched a lot of theirs, theres a few things I want to try that they have :D
There was one advertised, but I think teh carb count was really high, but I will definitely check that aisle more carefully this trip, I don't normally look too hard at it all :D
I hate telling people they “look good” after losing some weight, but you certainly are looking good. I can see the necklaces getting looser around your neck and your smile lines are more defined. But I hope above all you have started feeling a little better. I lost 65kg after a gastric bypass and my life has changed. I do over 10,000 steps a day just standing in my classroom as a teacher. I couldn’t have done they before my surgery. Good on you both xx
I am grateful that I can do over 5k steps without going further than the kitchen most days lol, so the disorganisation of stuff being everywhere is good for something! :D
Omgoodness WELL DONE DARYL 👏👏👏👏👏... Keep going Nyssa , I'm sure it takes just a bit of time to get through your system... ... In time you will feel the difference... What about your blood pressure??? What about salvital , not sure how the salt component go though... ... for the electrolyte component..?? I think you have lost fluid and the scales at your mums might surprise you... & and being diet is so expensive .... your children have an amazing diet... 😊
Electrolytes are so expensive. I've made one with lemon juice, salt, cream of tartar .... I've been looking for the recipe but can't find it. It's not amazing but tweakable, I would imagine and there are heaps of variants online. Also, Ruthanne Zimmerman (homesteading with the zimmermans) makes a 'sports drink' based on tea ... might be worth a look. Even to intersperse with the tastier one that's more expensive! 🤷♀️ I love watching your channel!!! Thank you!!
Yes, I think the general consensus is to spend initially to buy the individual ingredients mix it all together and add sugar free cordial or something similar to it when we 'need' the flavour.
i assume you wouldnt be able to find the time to go to basic calorie counting? i found low fat and calorie counting effective, ive lost 5 stone so far. but it is time consuming to sit and work it all out x
I've done calorie counting before as well, I'm fairly well aware of calorie counts on things so I don't find it tooo arduous, but realistically the reason we changed the eating style wasn't all about weight, it was also to do with overall health, which the keto/carnivore lifestyle is supposed to assist with, we shall see hehe.
Wow Darryl really has slimmed... it's so much easier for men though... same here I've been the same weight for over a decade myself...NO MATTER WHAT I EAT.... I just feel better eating heavier protein/fat lower carb lower sugar... if you could go straight conivore for 30days at least It really should lessen your inflammation .. I'll go straight conivore if I'm feeling inflamed... reach out to LMNT they will most likely sponsor you ...
I agree that going straight carnivore and eliminating everything initially would be ideal, like we did when we went whole 30, but I just couldn't fathom it last trip, and this trip is Christmas, so maybe after this in the new year after the next grocery trip I'll attempt it and see if it makes a difference! :D
I've tried the whole food plant based diet and got off most of my meds, this way of eating has changed my life. Look up videos it might be another way of eating for you. Be open to change. I love your videos they are inspirational.
We did whole30 for a while there! and it was good, It helped a lot, I think we just got way off track, cost of living and ease of filler carbs and the kids consuming more and more, it made it hard. I definitely think being mindful is key too, being aware of what you are consuming and making the decision to adapt and change and work out what works for you etc.
Musashi and lokako keto have electrolyte drinks, some low carbon options. Around $27, I don't know what they taste like though. Have you looked at the All day I dream about Food website? She has heaps of keto baking recipes.
I use bulk nutrients for my protein, but they sell electrolytes it's $20 for 1kg. Everything I've purchased tastes great and quick turnaround for delivery.
Just a thought have you tried freezing cream in the breat milk bags designed for the freezer? Im not sure of the cost or the outcome of the creams integrity after being thawed after being frozen in breast milk bags.
As for water you can get basically the same effect as LMNT using good redmans or baja salt, fresh lemon juice, cucumber. Also you might want to try doing some turmeric, ginger, orange lemon cucumbers beets carrots blended into juice. I have noticeable inflammation and pain (chronic pain person here) reduction with that mix along with a lot of water with redmans lemon juice and cucumbers
Citrus isn't easy to get atm, but I will definitely make more of an effort to freeze pieces of it when I do get it cheap! I think I'll mix up my own LMNT blend, and we'll try some sugar free cordials and stuff to get that flavour boost for that one drink a day :D
Could I make a polite suggestion with the psoriasis? I make a Dandelion salve, beeswax, pressed sunflower oil and dandelion flower heads. Works well to reduce inflammation and redness and irritation with psoriasis and other allergies and skin conditions. All natural. I make and use myself for allergic skin conditions. Have a look into it as homesteaders/ off gridders may be down your alley type thing. 🇦🇺👍
I make a calendula/comfrey salve, it definitely helps Sonnet with her eczema, but I haven't made any in a while, I'm pretty sure I still have some calendula infused oil actually, I should melt some beeswax and make up a tin! I haven't tried dandelion though, I haven't ever grown it, I might have to try it in one of my empty beds and see how I go :D. Thank you :D
@@OurSmallFootprint I pick my dandelions in paddocks and parks where I know they don’t spray anything. Wild foraged I guess. Dry them in my hanging net sun dryer. And infuse about 3 weeks to a month. It’s good to get away from the chemical type pharmaceuticals and use something that is natural . I’m soon to make my first batch of prunella vulgaris. (Heal all ) great antiseptic quality’s healing wounds and stubborn infection. Cuts scrapes minor abrasions. And that’s only the use for salve . Has so many other uses in teas. Compress etc and both these flowers provide nectar for native bees and other pollinators . thanks for your reply can’t get enough of you lot.
You always seem to have fruit at hand and I think that if you can get some soda water and crush just a slice fruit at the bottom of your glass and add the soda water you have made a flavoured soda water like the mount Franklin and the other brands
Yes, that might be a good way to go, keeping fruit aside that the kids can't have and freezing it or whatever as soda water additive, it might help fill a hole.
Adore you ❤ you have definitely dropped weight but I’m sad it’s not helping with your pain. I’m sorry you have pain, wish I could make it go away! I think you are spot on about the kids diets. We dont do keto/carnivore because we can’t afford it. Wish we could but with kids it’s just not realistic. I go by the 3/1/1 which is 3 bites protein, 1 bite veg/fruit, 1 bite carb. My personal problem seems to be the massive amount of coffee I drink 😂
I don't think I've tried that one, I'll look into it! I find that weather can really alter the severity of it as well, when its hot and sweat and humid it flares more!
I can see a difference in your face and neck! Your eyes look sparklier too, i know that sounds weird! Darrell is looking great! The difference is that he is enjoying it, whilst you look like your being punished!
I'm always pretty flat at the end of the two months, so I think its a combo of that too, food just gets too hard, we're down to bare minimum, having to think about every meal and plan significantly to make sure that the meal is cooked etc, and of course I don't tend to leave the property for the 8 weeks too, so whilst I don't want to , I do get a little stir crazy heh.
Would the shelf stable cream work for you? I have purchased the long life whipping cream before to have in the camper it was used in a cooked recipe so was fine, not sure how it would work out price wise as not sure if Costco sell it by the case cheaper or not, but just a thought for storage. Bulk Nutrients do electrolytes that are affordable, from memory sugar free and low carb but I have purchased for the kids for hikes so haven't been concerned about carbs sugars ECT when looking for them. Chemist warehouse also often have some bulk cheap options
I don't think Costco sells shelf stable, and the ones in the supermarkets aren't very cost effective, if anything I think they're almost dearer than fresh for the convenience! I will check costco though :) I think making my own powder mix will be the way to go, and figuring out how to flavour it to suit!
I drink hydralyte. Chemist warehouse has them cheapest. Rheuee not delicious like cordial but definitely not yuck depending on flavour. Orange is most common but i like the peach and the strawberry kiwi. The daughter likes the watermelon but i didn't. They do lemon lime but i havent tried it. I too have been thinking your necklace looks quite a bit looser so i think you've definitely had changes too. Darrell looks like he's doing really well on it! I'm careful with carbs because my ibs hates them but i find for me living without is miserable so i have them but lightly (like lower calorie bread so i can have bread but its lower in carbs, and i do okay with orher carbs like potato and sweet potato and a little rice. I think for me wheat is the bigger issue. And I do have trouble with too much sugar but some is fine and it's cheap and I like it better. Its also more affordable with how things are at the supermarket now!) Its worth doing properly for a bit though like you are and go from there 😊 Came back to say bulk nutrients do a powdered electrolyte that google tells me is low carb and their flavours are nice.
I ate carnivore for 3 and a half years and never used an electolyte drink. You can make your own though but not sure of the recipes. I just use really good salt and salted to taste. I still eat lower carb but don't measure anything, I just naturally love meat, fish, dairy and egg and base my two meals a day around those with a small amount of fruit and and veg. Ruminant meat is very much more satisying than chicken, so yes to more beef it is much better for you in terms of fatty acid profile as supermarket chickens are generally fed terrible diets
I think more beef will definitely be necessary, I already salt things pretty heavily, my medication can bottom out sodium levels, so I have to be aware of that, but in this heat I'm drinking 6+L of water a day, so I definitely need to add electrolytes into at least one of those 2L drink bottles, because I'm flushing too much :S
Nyssa, not sure the brand you mentioned about electrolytes but I have to take supplements also on top of meds, my preferred brand is voost, great flavor magnesium, iron etc, and are available in Woolies and Coles. Maybe not what you are after 🤷♀️, but I hope you find something you like and is affordable. Snookums 😊
@ that’s annoying if that’s the case, I really feel for you trying to do everything you can on this diet, but the cost of life is just getting out of hand. 🤗
I have been keto/ mostly carnivore for over 10 years. I did it for health reasons ( type 2 diabetic) I ended up changing my life and have maintained my health and weight loss for over 10 yrs. Making foods you used to eat and trying to make them work is a mistake. This is how I eat and I don’t try and make those treats although I tried in the beginning 😂 A great treat is Mascarpone cheese and you can add any sugar free syrup or straight coco powder. After many years I have so many hacks and I don’t do anything crazy intense . I do a lot of casseroles with meat and cheese / ricotta. Also you can do deli meat cheese roll ups but fry them -same with thin sliced steak and heat up in gravy. The keto channels will make you crazy😂 keep it simple 😘 my partner has multiple auto immune disease and when he eats more carnivore - keto he starts to feel better and the inflammation starts to go down try and give it some time to see if it helps :-) I use key nutrients for electrolytes ✅
I think its the season that has impacted me, its christmas, so I'm attempting the fancier things and forgetting how much they don't work, I did have to remind myself that gluten free recipes are the most likely to work though!
You are doing great, i have been noticing your necklace is down on your neck, big difference.Well done to both of you, i find it hard to give up carbs, but hopefully can follow your example.Cheers Diana NZ 😮
Doing phitos at tour mums and aome measuremw ts might be a good ideA, not just for weightloss but sometimes you can see changes through the photos more so.
Liquid IV for electrolytes! the passion fruit flavour is 👌🏼👌🏼 and costco has it, also other flavours are good but def loved passionfruit the most and not $65 😅
LMNT has their ratios on their website. And how they make a few flavors. I made the plain one with ingredients I got off amazon. I have enough ingredients for a good year using it once a day. I spent about $20usd
@@OurSmallFootprint They make a true orange now I have no idea if you can get something like that in AU. But there is True Orange, lime and lemon. You then can add a bit of what ever sweetener you like. And come pretty darn close.
@@scottfowler6560 np! It’s hard when you’re trying to keep to a certain cost space but also certain requirements. It’s looking like making my own and adding sugar free cordial might be the way to go! :)
@ I totally understand the cost aspect. Prices at the shops are getting out of control. Something off topic my wife has always wanted to use Gee after watching your videos. But it seems quite expensive. Is it better for you to use it?
@@scottfowler6560 we used to always use it because it becomes low dairy because the milk solids are removed, so it works as a butter alternative for our household, the other thing is the water is cooked out, so things like popcorn, as a topper it gives that buttery texture and flavour but it doesn't send you popcorn soggy. It is expensive though, Costco is very reasobaly priced, but the grocery stores less so, you can make your own though! if she wanted to give it a go, you basically cook butter until the solids cook off and drop to the bottom and then you have the clarified ghee on top!
I had salt on everything I ate and 1/2teaspoon in glass of water and didn't purchase electrolytes. However, I was also regularly seeing my Carnivore / Ketovore doctor following his advice for me. He also did regular blood tests to monitor my changes. He said kidneys dump salt eating this way and as the body heals this settles. Anne, Tassie
I consume a lot of salt in a lot of ways because my meds can make me bottom out, so I already add a lot of salt in my diet, I think the big thing is in this heat how much water I drink, so its flushing thinsg as well, which is why its important to add more in too, to compensate for that :D
Well done Darryl, hope the weight loss has brought you good health, but don't do it for judgemental people, do it for yourself 😊 Nyssa to me you've lost weight from your shoulders face and neck, again do it for your health and own happiness 😊 xxx
We actually prefer them over every other one we've tried, all of the flavours have like this citrus refreshing quality to them, they are expensive though!
@ I’m so glad. There is a TH-cam video with Leon Hendrix. DRVN Podcast. Put up 2 months ago that talks about this. (Later on, about 2/3 the way through) Very very interesting podcast(off topic a bit) but for the details on a molecular level comes up later. Good luck mate. I’m going to give it a go myself. 👍🏼🌸🌼
Laura spath explained it to her kids perfectly, they ate poorly and ruined their metabolism qith augar and excessive carbs and not have to eat carnivore to make it better but the kids have better immune system that can handle the carbs and balance ddiet.
I first did Atkins in the 1980’s. Various versions of it off and on thru the years. I like the keto cooking channel “Keto Twins” They are funny, and knowledgeable. They take trendy foods and make them keto. They are about as real as you can get.
I have been watching a lot of their stuff :D it does annoy me that their thumnbails are AI though, so you don't get an actual good idea of the food really until you get to the end of the video and sometimes its nothing like the thumbnail.
@@OurSmallFootprintyou know, I have been watching them for years and never noticed the thumbnails. Never thought of it until you mentioned in your video. I suppose, in a way, its not much different than food stylists tricks in ads, magazines and cookbooks. Perfectly spaced sesame seeds on hamburger buns etc.
I have been meaning to ask if your brain feels clearer and more switched on, since being on a keto diet? I really appreciate listening to you talk about your feelings regarding weight loss. I believe we all have a weight base-line that our bodies will stick to, if we eat intuitively. You clearly know yours and you respect it.
I felt like I was sleeping better and was more rested at the beginning of the month, but I haven't felt that continue, but thats possibly the lack of the red meat too, but also being female, my cycle affects so many things, and sometimes that makes it really hard to assess what is the cause/effect!
@@OurSmallFootprint I highly recommend looking up Mindy Pelz who has the book Fast Like A Girl. She goes into what you need nutritionally at different points in your cycle.
I have been ketovore for awhile and I went back to using diet cordial and a good quality salt as electrolytes. Works out to be the same carb count as LMNT and much cheaper . I don't think we need to expensive electrolytes unless you are doing full on strick loin diet which your not. Lots of carnivore docs don't use LMNT
Someone mentioned using the dietrite cordial and salt, I was already taking magnesium so having the electrolyte powders with magnesium was one less step etc hehe, but I've found a bunch of different diy recipes for the same basic ingredients as LMNT and then we could try with the diet cordial :)
@OurSmallFootprint I just take magnesium capsules when needed. Use one serve diet rite cordial in 500ml mason jar and add kelp salt which has iodine in it . The rest you get from food especially if you eat eggs
The diet rite cordial is gross I drink no sugar cottees apple and raspberry cordial have been for years cant stand water so its all I drink. You only need the smallest amount for taste. A bit expensivebut buy a few when on special. Hope this helps you😊
Lullaby Luxury just reminded me there is a discount code if anyone wants to try it out. NYSSA20, website is lullaby.luxury :D
I know you can’t keep up the daily videos but I am enjoying them immensely. 😄😄
I can’t believe how well you function with all the pain you live with. It certainly doesn’t look like it holds you back. You are kicking goals daily!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤@@OurSmallFootprint
Please please remember that you didn't get to where you are in 8 weeks, you aren't going to heal in 8 weeks. Stick it out. Give it at least 6 months. You're looking fantastic. Love watching you guys!
Thanks for sharing your journey! It's disheartening when you put so much effort in and don't feel like you have any results. I truly believe as women our cortisol levels are a factor we are so stressed and having to 'do it all' means we just struggle with many things.
I think there's far more factors than just food intake for me as a female etc, than there is for D, but I"m super glad he is getting results still!
Inflammation and peri menopause went hand in hand for me too ,
Stress is the biggest trigger for me but also really sensitive to food additives, vegetable oils , sugar and refined/ white flour,
Higher protein works well for me without worrying too much about carbs ,
It is all stressful enough budgeting and cooking from scratch !
Thank you Gloria :D
You go, Darryl!! Looking much more comfortable in your skin! 👍
I think you feed your children amazingly! Another great vlog.
Thanks for sharing your health journey Every thing is harder when you have to consider your children and budget . All the best for Christmas and the new year, hope things work out for you both. 👍
Have you tried the Pedialite products? They do make it for adults now.
I enjoy all you share, I think you’re amazing! You own your lifestyle and I hope you are very proud of all you do!! To worry about those who criticize, is sad, and I hope you don’t allow them to waste your time!😊
So enjoy your video's and honesty.
I definitely think it will be a more long term thing for me than for Darryl, I just have to persevere! :D
The necklace around your neck is looser. You’re looking good.
I noticed that too.
I agree
I've been noticing the same thing. Nyssa I think you're doing great! This is coming from someone who has had weight issues all my life. I had what I call my "thin years" with many more my heavy years.
I also noticed this looking good keep it up.
Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts so far
@OurSmallFootprint Yeah, over Christmas is not the time 🤣.
Yes, I'm going to persevere for the moment and see where it leads hehe, everything takes time!
We’re cheering you on 🎉
Awesome work both of you! It certainly shows that you both have made progress 👍👏
I'm going to start watching your show with pen and paper because I always learn something new and helpful thanks sis. God bless you
you really do look better and can see weight loss, really hope the next 8 weeks it helps with the meds too
Very interesting Nyssa.
I think its so important to find what works for you food wise and mentally as well, that all not everything fits every person :D
Daryl stomach photo really shows how well he is going
Your results will show up soon. Small steps at a time.well done to you both
He is very happy with the results so far :D
Hi Nyssa everything is so expensive no matter what diet your on looking good Darrell great job i only drink water and i agree its so boring i only have 2 cups of tea a day take care 🥰🌹🎄⛄
You look great. Take care hope you are feeling better.
Hi five to Darryl, he must be ecstatic. What an amazing result.. Men do tend to loose it must faster than women .
He is super happy, and it helps me to stick with it that he has great results too!
Congratulations to Daryl!
Thank you Pat :D
I agree my fiancé are gonna start that diet soon. He’s almost 57 and I turn 52 next Wednesday. He wants to lose weight and not be in pain. I just don’t want to see if it reduces pain. But your hubby in only two months has lost tons. I showed my bf your hubbys before and after pics. Thanks because it’s gave him a boost of hope.
Crap I meant to say I want to see if it reduces my pain.
He definitely has had great results and is feeling better as well overall, it was a fairly simple swap out for him to change his eating and have those results and now he's going to add some exercise in as well and hopefully it will continue for him!
Congrats on the weight loss
I can see you look different, in your face and neck. You look well. Perimenopause makes body change difficult and I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling better yet.
I'm going to persevere, give myself time! :D
I'm going to have to experiment with how we store it! thank you :D
Always enjoy your videos❤
U r looking good, I hope it is helping you to feel better
It's a big adjustment to make, you both are doing amazing no matter the progress. Congratulations Darryl 👏🏼 You have definitely lost inflammation around your neck where your necklace sits as well Nyssa 👏🏼
I've been doing carnivore for 10 weeks with Electrolytes and have lost 16kgs so far. I've never been one for red meat but i found the same thing with chicken and now i enjoy a variety of red meat. I had to buy pork rines toale schnitzels or I'd have given up. I did enjoy "normal" food for my mine and my daughter's birthdays, and will be enjoying food for Christmas 😂
Merry Christmas to your family from mine 🎉
I definitely won't be as strict over the christmas period, but if I can make a few things that are low carb, then I will hehe.
I think I want to not rely on any of it but I’m also going to enjoy it over the festive season heh
@@OurSmallFootprint also they do have the Propel in the powdered.
I do love green veg, but I'm just not a huge fan of frozen ones, which makes it hard we ate a lot at the beginning of the cycle when I had them fresh but by the end of the two months there's mostly only frozen left and I find them less tolerable :D
D has been drinking bulletproof coffee, I'm still going with cream in mine for the moment hehe at least we're used to not sweetening them.
The musashi electrolytes are really good. Chemist warehouse has them on special all the time. The blue lemonade is my favourite and hardly any carbs.
That brand has been recommended a couple of times, I will have to check it out, thank you :D
Please keep us updated on the cbd oil. My aunty has an extremely aggressive leukaemia and im wondering if that will ease her pain some too
That’s great Daryl lost so much weight.
I've had cheese made from sheep milk and it was quite nice - just have to get over my psychological aversion to anything other than cows milk
Your husband is looking great, thats men though, last year my husband and I went on a strict diet for health reasons, and he lost weight, I stayed the same, so thats that 🙃
Costco in Tennessee USA has LiquidIV which is what they give in the Hospital here for electrolyte. I’m not sure about the taste or cost but it might be something you might want to look into.
Our Costco has it too :) but it’s quite high carb, like 11g per serve :s
@ that stinks!
I have watched a lot of theirs, theres a few things I want to try that they have :D
Be proud of yourself. ❤
Have you try costco for electrolytes I think they sell i know they protein powder ect and merry Christmas to you all aswell xx
I love watching your channel!!!
I would definitely portion the cream up in the freezer. Maybe into 2 pint jars or bags.
Freezer space is such a premium! I’m going to have to figure it out though!
I have checked out her website, and so many others lol :D. Thank you! :D
That's meant to say carb...auto correct sucks sometimes 🤦🏼♀️
Costco blanched almond flour is cheap in the states. I have the bamboo flour but haven't made Victoria's flour blend yet
Yes, the almond flour from costco is the best value, I will grab a few bags this trip :D
Enjoy summer. It's the dead of winter here
I use the Walmart brand lemonade its 3g of carbs
I use bulk nutrients for my protein, but they sell electrolytes it's $20 for 1kg. Everything I've purchased tastes great and quick turnaround for delivery.
I have looked at them, I'll have to have a try! thank you :D
Just a thought have you tried freezing cream in the breat milk bags designed for the freezer? Im not sure of the cost or the outcome of the creams integrity after being thawed after being frozen in breast milk bags.
I feel like there might be some significant wastage in the transferrance of it between vessels, if you know what I mean!
Have a look at welle essentials. I'm a big fan of the tropical electrolytes
They look to be well priced and the flavours sound good!
Liquid iv is good and usually on special at chemist warehouse
I looked at that because costco sells it, but its really high carb, 11g of carbs per sachet :S
If you could get your dr to prescribe elocon lotion or creams, it might help your psoriasis. I had it bad in my head and torso and that cleared it up.
I will check costco though :)
I think making my own powder mix will be the way to go, and figuring out how to flavour it to suit!
I find drinking water boring as well...I put a swig of lemon juice to mix it up...colder the better
Its also more affordable with how things are at the supermarket now!)
Its worth doing properly for a bit though like you are and go from there 😊
Came back to say bulk nutrients do a powdered electrolyte that google tells me is low carb and their flavours are nice.
Snookums 😊
I think voost is really high carbs, mum buys it from costco in bulk! but I think its high carb, I will double check :D
@ yes and give yourself the grace to have a bite of a few things💕
You can google it and make your own, I made some out of cranberry juice, salt and I think lemon juice
You are doing great, i have been noticing your necklace is down on your neck, big difference.Well done to both of you, i find it hard to give up carbs, but hopefully can follow your example.Cheers Diana NZ 😮
I definitely feel like that was one noticeable thing to me, it doesn't roll upwards anymore, so I have seen that!
Doing phitos at tour mums and aome measuremw ts might be a good ideA, not just for weightloss but sometimes you can see changes through the photos more so.
Im trying caster oil currently on my eczema , been about 3 days
Sonnet had really severe eczema, she takes a daily probiotic and its cleared up completely, so long as she doesn't stop taking them!
Liquid IV for electrolytes! the passion fruit flavour is 👌🏼👌🏼 and costco has it, also other flavours are good but def loved passionfruit the most and not $65 😅
I looked at Liquid IV, but they're 12g of carbs (10 of which I think is sugar) per sachet :S. That's awfully high.
@ oh yeah, i didn’t even think about the carbs, it makes sense that it tastes good though 😂😂
@@michellec3124 hehe, defintiely, and real sugar tastes so much better than artificial sugars :S. which is why I'm trying to do without mostly!
I think you look great, weight loss or no weight loss. Hopefully the pain side of things improves.
Take care..
LMNT has their ratios on their website. And how they make a few flavors. I made the plain one with ingredients I got off amazon. I have enough ingredients for a good year using it once a day. I spent about $20usd
I’ve seen a few recipes to make your own lmnt alternative I think that will be the way to go and figure out what we need to add for taste :)
@@OurSmallFootprint They make a true orange now I have no idea if you can get something like that in AU. But there is True Orange, lime and lemon. You then can add a bit of what ever sweetener you like. And come pretty darn close.
@@humm23 I actually grabbed some of them off amazon so I will give that a go!
What about freezing the cream in ice trays. Then pop them out and store in a zip lock.
That might work for less room required in the freezer!
Hossy's Kitchen is the one I thought was good.
What about Powerade powder or stamanade powder for a cheaper option drink.
They're all rather high carb, sugar/glucose based, so on a quick google, powerade is 14g of carbs per serve :)
@ okay thanks for replying and the info about it.
P.S: LOVING the daily vids!
I wondered how LMNT tasted, I have a urostomy and therefore are always dehydrated, I have an electrolyte drink daily.
We actually prefer them over every other one we've tried, all of the flavours have like this citrus refreshing quality to them, they are expensive though!
I drink Musashi electrolytes in watermelon!
Hello, please look into using Methylene Blue. ❤
I will do some research :)
@ I’m so glad.
There is a TH-cam video with Leon Hendrix. DRVN Podcast. Put up 2 months ago that talks about this. (Later on, about 2/3 the way through)
Very very interesting podcast(off topic a bit) but for the details on a molecular level comes up later.
Good luck mate. I’m going to give it a go myself. 👍🏼🌸🌼
Sorry for the follow up. Chase Hughes is the guest on the podcast I referred to. 😉👍🏼
@@julih2674 it seems very common, especially in food videos and yeah. It’s marketing and I get it, but as a viewer I find it a little annoying heh :)
She has lots of videos on TH-cam
@@SpatchG thank you! Another to add to my list :)
Hope this helps you😊
@ we had diet rite before but I think it gave D reflux, so I was going to look at other choices! I’ll check that one out
