I work in final assembly in Gibson USA factory doing set-ups, and whatnot.
This feels super good to hear, not saying, I set up that particular guitar, as there are a handful of us doing the job, but it just feels good to know the work is being appreciated !

Please tell me since you build lespauls why they are shipped to customers with horrible quality control issues. Pick gaurds cut wrong , scuffs scratches and scraped, gouges in the finish, fret ends not polished and sharp or frets not installed all the way into the neck, and even nuts on head stock cut to deep or not shallow and when a chibson has better quality control then the Gibson version of that guitar has better flawless finish and quality control there is a issue at Gibson. And it's not just me who have had quality control issues with a 1800 dollar plus guitar from Gibson but hundreds of videos on TH-cam as well showing horrible quality control. Chibson is what us hobby guitarists need to hopefully make Gibson step up their game and make quality high end guitars for a price where the average guitar player can afford one. 3200 bucks is not worth it for that slash lespaul. Im sorry and hate to say it as a person who use to love Gibson lespauls until I was able to afford two of them and both came in horrible shape and quality issues

Picked up a slash November burst about 2 weeks ago and I can’t put it down. I’d agree that Gibson is starting to have another golden era. Will it be another “good wood era” like the 90s? Who knows but what I do know is I’ve played the 50s, 60s, and the slash standards for hours and they all sound fantastic. The tobacco burst esc with the dark back is what sold it for me though

Also a year later and the thing is really stable with tuning, no G string hangups. I'm not a big tech nerd I just use my ears and I love this guitar. "Find me a company that people don't complain about." Well for me, as a Gibson Les Paul fanboy, I can admit I've had WAY more issues with their QC, than say USA made Fender Strats. Every Strat I've owned over the last 30+ years have been miles ahead of any Gibson Les Paul I've ever owned. Almost every single Les Paul has had to have some kind of tweaks / adjustments made to them. However, in the end, the Les Paul ends up being fantastic. Everyone's mileage will vary. Also, for quality / cost balance, I find Ibanez in my opinion to be underrated. Great video as always. I'm thinking of getting the Kirk Hammett Gibson Les Paul standard. Basically a 50's faded with greeny pickups for an extra $1000 Canadian lol.

This is why I love medium-output pickups. They don't have the harshness of, say, high-output ceramic or molybdenum magnet units, but they still hit the front end of an amp like there's another gain stage. I favor AlNiCo-5 units (which I have in my Gibson Sonex and my PRS), but an overwound AlNiCo-2 gets it done nicely. Plus, they still clean up well if you need them to. Can't go wrong.

Gibson is indeed doing a phenomenal job! I've purchased eight Les Pauls these past two years, all through AMS and Zzounds, and they are all great. That's not a coincidence or luck. Most of the Gibson slagging online comes from people parroting what they've read, and have never owned one. (I've also never had a headstock spontaneously jump off of a neck either, and I've been playing and touring with Gibson guitars for over 30 years.)

A while back I picked a SLASH Victoria Gold Top from the Demo Shop. An yes those pickups are nice and loud. Hit the front of the amp nicely, which also is great for just rolling back the volume on the guitar for a few different tones. Glad I picked it up when I did. New pricing is crazy on these guitars. I have to look super close to see the minor blems for being a demo shop guitar. Only thing about the guitar was the setup I had to spend some time to dial her in, worth the time tho. Neck is a 50's but not a baseball bat either. Fluff I do like the darker color on that guitar better and what where you playing tho on this video Thanks for sharing

I'm shocked by alnico II pickups, I've always stuck to A5 for everything but I tried the Tonerider Rocking set - overwound A2's - and they hit the front of an amp in such a different way, I highly recommend them and I think they're probably voiced in a similar way to the Slash signature set. Not quite vintage, not quite hot but a perfect middle ground.

Love it; my brother has one and I have a 60's LP with a beautiful top. I agree and my brother does too; didn't buy it because it was a "Slash" model. He is not a fan boy either but that Slash 50's model is nice with those pickups and the top; who could not love that top?????!!!! Beautiful piece!! Love your comparo to the vintage 50's model too; never heard anyone say that since everyone treats the original bursts as the holy grail and no other Gibsons matter......the new ones matter under the new management! QC and all; that is my experience! Great video!

Just had my tech install these pups in my LP standard, 1st time ive ever swapped pups. 2 things i noticed that im not sure are normal? I was told it was but not sure if my tech was being 100% honest lol.
    1) when we plugged the pups in the multimeter they read 9.30 on the bridge & 8.80 on the neck (before they were installed , he connected them each to the multimeter to make sure they worked). After they were fully installed and in guitar, each pup read a little weaker on the multimeter, tech said it was cuz the 500k pots use/take some of that energy or something, which is normal for the pups to drop a little on the meter after installing, nature of the beast? Jw how true? It looked like he peeled back about 3/4 inch of the braided pup wire before soldering the wire to what looked to be top/side edge of the circle/metal pot.
    2) i noticed after everything installed, it seemed like my volume knob was versitile? Seemed like volume at 7 was much quieter then i remember it being before the pickup swap..cant tell if i just thought 10-7 was less draststic of a volume drop off when it had the stock pups or if its possible the tech poorly installed them and thats why i think the volume knob had more of an even sweep? He said the pickup installation would have nothing to do with the volume knob sweep..so maybe the knob is reacting different to the new SD slash 2.0’s vs my stock 61’ burstbuckers? Or maybe i just thought the volume knob had a more even sweep? Any help or input on the feedback after getting them put in would really help! Im clearly new to the tech part so not sure if my tech did a fine job or if i should have someone else take a look

I buy things for how they sound, play and feel and stumbled on a 2020 Slash Victoria Goldtop and it was perfectly balanced, Light for a Les Paul and the Pickups were Fire and never intended on buying a 15th Guitar, but not only did I negotiate a Great Deal, but got it spread over a 6 month layaway so although cash poor for 6 months it is mine

I think the fact that's its a signature model is why it’s so comfortable to play and sounds great. Its not a boardroom greenlit design with no playing time.
Slash was playing the Vermillion prototype live for about 2-3 years before their release, I’m guessing they worked out the kinks.

I agree whole-heartedly about Gibson’s improvement. The 5 I’ve added in the last year are significantly better than the others from the last few years.
No tuning stability issues whatsoever on my new ones. Same certainly cannot be said for the ones 2-3 years back.

You know, you bring up an interesting point on Les Paul pickguards.
Idk if it has anything to do with playing technique, but i pick with my middle, ring, and pinky fingers open while my index and thumb are holding the pick. Whenever i play my Edwards Les Paul custom I anchor my pinky onto the pickguard which tends to be a lot easier than if it wasn't there to begin with.

I can proudly say I have a 50s les paul and a Victoria slash gold top. I had put slash's Duncans in the 50s before I bought the slash LP. They do not sound the same. The "Gibson custom pickups" don't have the same bite. The neck pickup sounds nothing like the Duncans. Love the guitar, shame they couldn't put Duncans in them tho.
