      Great Haul Austin. I'd like to see the Gibson and Epiphone Victoria compared, especially the neck profiles.
      I expect the Gibson version to be a little chunky, I'm curious to see if Epiphone changed their normal neck profile to follow the Gibson!

    Since February 1996, I've owned 9 different Epiphone instruments. Two of them were Les Pauls. I would consider getting one of the models showcased during this episode, only I am more than satisfied by my current Epi solid body, a Flying V from the Canadian-exclusive Negative series. Can't believe I simply purchased it on Reverb and had it shipped to where I live in New York City.

    Speaking honestly. I have a 250 dollar epiphone AFD studio version. Only thing I did to it was put locking tuners on it. And it really is one of the best guitars I have ever played. Have several Les Paul's. The. Other one that I love to play is my Joe bonamassa epiphone black beauty too. But I will say this about my 250 dollar slash, the sustain out pf the pick-ups, is truly insane. Just sayin, and just my opinion. Would I love a Gibson version, absolutely. I think it was "Over Tightened" and who ever was fastening the strap buttons down stripped the hole out so unless you super glued a toothpick in the screw hole and re-fastened it the screw would just never get completely tight. Quality Control should have caught that on a 3 thousand dollar guitar especially when you just dropped over $24,000.00 in one purchase. Think about it, they KNOW who Trogly is and they didn't even bother to double check QC on all those guitars before sending them off to be reviewed on a popular TH-cam channel. That should tell you everything you need to know about Gibson.

    • @hkguitar1984
      @hkguitar1984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RByrne Actually, when you are shipping any guitar the lower strap button should be completely removed. Dropping the box and guitar on its end will sometimes cause the strap button to either be driven deep into the body or even crack/fracture the body.
      Still though, Gibson QC should be checking little things like Strap Buttons. IMHO

  • @thseed7
    @thseed7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Holy carp doodles dude that's a bunch of LP s. I was going to say except for the the Slash signature if that gold Victoria was a natural finish back it would look just like the Traditional I have . That and the pickups on mine is both Zebra. The Epiphone version looks more like mine exception have rough not smooth back covers but they're a cream color. Even though I just got the Greenburst I'm still not much on green finishes but man the way that wood grain moves on the Anaconda burst is awesome. I like the brighter green on the Epiphone version but I agree the fret board should be at least a darl brown if not a blackish color. I vote you review them all and compare the two side by side for each .

    A veneer should not look visually different than a solid maple top. What you see in that chatoyancy is really the surface of the wood grains, so depth of would shouldn’t make a difference.
    The difference in these colors most likely comes down to the wood stains they use, like if it were oil based vs if it were water based. Water based stains can be really vivid, which is what you’re noticing.

    Austin I just have to say that you do a Great job and thank you. I look so forward to this every day and today was AWSOME! see Im 52 and that means I was in highschool when Slash came on the sceen and thats when I picked up my first electric. I have wanted to see all of these side by side for a long time. My favorite (tuff choice) for now is the Gold top because of the dark back and uncovered pickups. To get a dark back is not easy without going custom. That AFD top is stellar! and of course the Novemember burst Gibson will hopefully be in my hands at some point also lol. You Rock Trogs. God Bless The Trogs

    The truss cover comes off easy enough. But can you peal the Slash cartoon off the back of the neck without too much bother.

    On the November burst, the Epiphone is identical to my Bourbon burst but mine doesn't have the slash logo obviously

    Greetings Austin!
    I have an earlier version of an Epiphone Slash Signature Les Paul and it has the special Seymour Duncan pickups that are in all of the Slash Signature Les Paul models, both Epiphone and Gibson, if I am not mistaken. So either of these guitars should essentially sound the same, it will be interesting to see how they compare in your future videos featuring these instruments.
    Thank you for posting these videos!
    Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨

    It's sad when Epiphones literally have better QC than Gibson.Didn't hear him say that any strap buttons were loose on the Epiphones but 2 of the Gibsons did.I'm convinced they do it because so many "super fans"put up with it.I have NEVER seen a Fender have close to as much QC problems as Gibson,hell I haven't seen Firefly have as many.

    The state of that heel area 1:04 & 7:12 on the Gibson GT Victoria! Very shabby workmanship from Gibson which isn't mirrored on the Epi version. Seeing shoddy things like that on a Gibson isn't encouraging.

    I loved that one with the loose strap button. Gone already so I must have good taste. That is nice.

    Am I the only one who noticed the November Burst paint job on the Gibson at 11:01 looks uneven? The black is MUCH thicker one one side than the other.

    Is the Slash 4 guitar not just the Vermillion red Gibson that was released around 2013?

    Please 🙏 review the AFD. It will be probably my next purchase. Not because of Slash, even if it's a awesome player, but for the color, the 59 neck the spec in general. I want it so bad. loll

    Although i do agree Gibson missed a loose strap button,...instead of returning the guitar to gibson to fix a loose strap button does not make much sense, its going to cost money to ship it back to gibson..just take a screw driver and tighten it..save money and saves everybody time..maybe just send them the unboxing or a letter would be better noted

    Thank you for doing this. I was disappointed when you said you weren't going to so this was a treat.
    I know it's way outside what you usually do, but it would be a kick for you to review an epiphone power player.

    I think the thing everyone needs to remember is the Gibson les Paul was just the Gibson les Paul, no customs, standards, studios, or epiphone versions. If you buy a good (you have to play a few and look) les Paul standard today you’re buying Gary Moore, slash etc etc guitar you just have to wait for it to age and I don’t agree with the keep in in a cupboard method, the people that build them build them to be played.?.

    The Epiphone cases don't support the neck in two places, like the Gibsons. I preferred the Gibson tops on every pair. But, I prefer the less dark backs of the Epiphones.

      Same here, I would dye it. I mean, actually I wouldn't buy it in the first place, but if I did have it I would dye it as dark as possible.

      I dyed a really light, reddish coloured board with a black dye. Sealed it with lemon oil and it looks like a completely different guitar. I hate that light red pau ferro, i'm an ebony board fan....🎸🤘🎸
