- Ser Cristian Cole, King Aegon, and Aemoned had sprung their trap, they had lured Princess Rhaenys into open battle, which would have dire consequences for all and shake the blacks to their core. But the Green would suffer as well, with King Aegon himself being gravely injured in the fighting leaving the rule of the realm with his Hand, ser Criston Cole, and the self-proclaimed lord protector, his brother Aemoned one eye. Even in victory, there is a sting in the tale, as they're often is when it comes to the dance of the dragons.
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on Geroge R R Martins A Song Of Ice And Fire series. I truly believe Rhaenys and Meleys death was the beginning of the end for Rhaenyra. Though the blacks had many more dragons than the greens the greens had Vhagar whilst most of the black dragons at the time were either unclaimed or too young to go to battle which left Meleys and Caraxes as team blacks 2 main heavy hitters.

Meleys gets literally no credit for the fact that she is the most metal dragon haha.
She is the perfect size. Not so small that she’s puny, but not so large that she’s slow and inefficient like Belarion or Vaghar.
She’s the FASTEST and most agile dragon known to Targaryen history.
She is ferocious. And clearly not afraid (as u can see here).
If I could choose one dragon, I wouldn’t choose Caraxes or Vaghar or anyone else. Meleys seems like the most efficient one.
She seems to have a good balance of traits which makes her a good all rounder

@@collinwatts9390 IKR. Daemon had to literally kill himself and his dragon to get yhe better of the exchange. He also used dirty tactics. People overestimate Meleys s little 2 much. Martin says perhaps she could defeat Vhagar which means maybe.

Aegon II's day were pretty much numbered after this battle. Baela and Moondancer just were the final nail in the coffin.

He and Sunfyre both actually survive for quite some time considering all the battles they go through. Sunfyre wins every dragon battle he gets into, looking back at it. Not unscathed of course but, still a helluva track record.

The Queen who never was might have died that day. But she took out Aegon as well as far as his ability to live. Armor melted into his skin among other problem things. Likely unable to use his manhood as well. Cristian Cole just brought about the end of the Targs ability to hold on to power. As did the HighTowers who pretty much were lucky to have not been wiped out.
Yeah but how much of the Targaryens are left? Only one or two while Hightowers are still going strong. It's easy to perceive that the Blacks won but overall they lost very badly and their source of power gone. It's downhill from there on out

@@Dcll8451well that’s just not how it works Maelys I quite big and could actually put up a fight just because Vhagar was larger didn’t mean Vhagar could automatically just demolish Maelys because as we saw Caraxes in the books could actually fight Vhagar and I believe Caraxes was smaller than Maelys

Sunfyre is the most toughest and hardcore dragon in the dance surviving Maelys, killing Greyghost, and Moondancer. No other dragon has seen more action. Ironic considering Sunfyre is the most beautiful dragon battered and suffered till death

I really hope HBO goes all in with this series and doesn't skimp out on budget. These dragon fights need to be a spectacle for the ages.
Well apparently that is why season 2 is only 8 episodes due to the fact the battles are costing so much budget wise and have taken so long production time wise

My take? Not really that worried about the dragon display, but this war took such a toll on families and individuals, it’s their pain, I think Wil be difficult to reconcile.

this is the moment im most excited to see in house of the dragon. Rhaenys was such a chad. Do you think she could of won if it was just sunfire?
It’s hard to say but I think she probably had a descent chance. A one on one situation changes the whole way a battle is fought mentally
She would’ve demolished Sunfyre remember Meleys had him by the neck had Vhagar not pounced on both of them Meleys would’ve killed Sunfyre.
She would have demolished Sunfyre. She might have even beaten Vhagar considering just how fast Meleys is and how much more experienced Rhaenys is as a rider compared to Aemond
Against sunfyre? Well meleys and rhaenys can easily kill them. Meleys even had a good chance to kill vhagar if vhagar came alone
Meleys was a huge dragon and have the advantage of size against Sunfyre. Any Dragon the age and size of Sunfyre hardly stand a chance against Meleys. But again Sunfyre was a badass dragon who solo killed Grey ghost , which was also the size of Meleys even when he was pre injured . So we can never be sure , the best guess would be both might have died .
At least Aegon fought for his crown. Rhaenrya had one of the biggest dragons in the kingdom but did nothing. At the bare minimum, she could have allowed Joffrey to do patrols on Tyraxes.
Rook's Rest was arguably the catalyst for the decline of the Targaryens. The moment the dragons danced above in the skies, their real power crumbled. Rhaenys, one of the most experienced dragonriders was killed and Aegon, with his dragon severely injured and his face mostly scared, could no longer project his strength. It was the point of no return for both factions and brought them back down to the ground like mortals.
Whew this damn battle ready made me upset. Man I am not looking forward to this on Sunday
This was what I like to call a “ pointless battle”.The only reason Rhaenys came was because the lord there was under siege and begged help since he had declared for Rhaenyra.And rhaenyra decided to send just 1 person and 1 dragon there.And the greens knew this, that she was arrogant, lazy, too sure of victory and unlikely to send her sons to fight since she had just lost Lucerys.Rhaenyra fell right into their trap.
Because at the end of the day the lord and his land got torched and KO’d anyway, meaning Rhaenys’s efforts were wasted.
Sure Sunfyre and Aegon got taken out for the war’s majority, but for the blacks they lost:
-A dragon.
-A dragonrider.
-The strong support of the velaryons as Corlys was very pissed at Rhaenyra for this and while he remained loyal, it wouldn’t have been the same.
-One of the most experienced royals in the realm who had very good politics and wise advice and experience in being trained to rule, as well as the only other dragonrider beside Daemon who was experienced and capable of fighting and defeating green dragons, with Syrax a lazy overfed overweight dragon( much like her rider in the war), Jace’s being young and small, Aegon 3’s being too tiny and barely able to carry Aegon once, Baela’s little green dragon, and that’s it.
Meanwhile greens:
-Aegon is injured but survived and was able to walk again.
-Aemond unscathed and now king regent with Vhagar also fine.
-Sunfyre injured but then takes down grey ghost, and moondancer, ensuring Rhaena is the last black to ever have a dragon.
-Minimal losses of green army.
Horrible strategist Rhaenyra was.
The greens still lost though. Their whole lineage was wiped out, Aemond and Vaghar were killed and a Black sat the iron throne

It actually would not surprise me at all, dragon's are not precision weapons. I recently watched the stepstones battle from HOTD and realised Daemon and Laenor must have killed loads of friendly troops in the crossfire.
@@WorldOfWesteros I guess Meleys had her mouth sunfyer's wing, so she couldn't of been the one to burn Aegon. That means Aemond just didn't care or he figured Aegon was screwed either way. Might as well take rhaenys out if Aegon is going to fall out of the sky with his gimp dragon.

A victory for the Greens but this plan was perhaps a mistake. For what ? When Rhaenys flies on Meleys, only one dragon remains capable of fighting in Dragonstone : Syrax. If I had been Hand of the King, I would have instead used the attack on Rook's Rest as a decoy and sent Vhagar and Sunfyre against the Velaryon fleet and Driftmark.
But it's the Targaryen who had the last laugh when aegon the younger took over when the other aegon was poisoned by clubfoot n corlys but both aegons has sad named green aegon was the crippled n black aegon was called the broken king but overall Its a tragic story
I think Targaryens had no laugh. Both family’s are Targaryens Otto was a Hightower but his name wasn’t sitting on the thrown it was still Targaryen and at the end the dance lead to their end. A tragedy for them but I think it was good for Westeros in the end a victory for the realm. Lol

If Aemond had heard Creston Cole's instructions, the Greens would have won easily and crushed all their enemies, but Aemond's mental weakness and recklessness cost the Greens dearly.

2.arrenged a marriage packed between aegons daughter jahara and dorneres princes son beacause prince qaren martell is a enemy to daemon so having a marriage packed with them and give his daughter to foster could have bring dorne on there side
3. Use drimfire in battle of Rocksrest with 3 dragons they would never had any damage

I agree with you, this will enhance the chances of winning, but from my point of view, if the army of the West, the army of the Stormlands, and the army of the Hightower were unified into one great army, with the Beast Vhagar and Tessarion standing above them for protection, the Greens would ensure a complete crushing of the lands of the rivers and the north. Unfortunately, Aemond dispersed the forces of the Greens, so it became easy to hunt their armies
So many different opinions love it! And at the end nobody was the winner both sides lost so many only to leave a child on the throne with no family (viserys believed to be dead at the time ) what world building!! So much fictional history

They made Jacaerys dirty, He died for nothing. Him living would have had far more impact, His death was totally unnecessary. It was an emphatic win, the might ..the dragons everything was in his favour.. that was his plan and what it did? He paid the price for it with his life. GRRM will never be forgiven for killing off Jace like that.

Plot leaked for episode 5 of House of the dragon aegon in aemond get into an argument when rhaenys in meleys show up on there dragon aemond sits the fight out because he didn't like what aegon said to him but quickly comes to a aegons aid when he sees sunfyre get injured vhagar in aemond pounce upon the 2 dragon vhagar almost completely Rips off sunfyre wing after the fall princess rhaenys survives in aegon trapped beneath sunfyre then seconds later sunfyre regains consciousness in eats rhaenys
where did you read that?
I read an outline and I think Rook's Rest was either episode 4 or 5. I do remember Blood and Cheese is episode 2, the Gullet is episode 9 and Rhaenyra takes King's Landing in episode 10.
There were no real details given though.
