I didn’t like playing STALKER too much because i picked a Makarov to start and I couldn’t kill shit. Honestly, one of Chernobylite's greatest appeals is its Mystery, intrigue, characters and branching choices. Where you think there's a bit of an illusion, but in actuality, the smallest detail can come back to bite you. Its one of the few games that makes me feel genuinely bad about killing someone. One of my favorite moments came from when one of the soldiers saw his buddy lying dead on the ground, he said "Hey, Alexsi, why are you sleeping?" before realizing that he was dead. The game does a great job of humanizing the NAR as more then just NPC's that arbitrarily accost you. Chernoblite be like: Hey, remember that guy you shot a few hours back you forgot about? Well here's his wife. Me: SHIIET! It really makes you regret some of your bad choices and that only sometimes you can go back and fix them, or start over and try again.

Chernobylite isn't a bad name for a mineral found only in chernobyl. Andesine is a mineral named for being found in the Andes. Ilmenite is from Ilmen Mountains. Tokyoite should be obvious. Baghdadite. Bytownite from bytown. Hell theres Fordite/Detroit Agate which is just the layers upon layers of automotive paint from old factories being used as a gemstone. I disagree, I would say the first 5-8 hours is the good part of the game as you first discover all the gameplay and the maps, after that, it is doing the same mission on the same maps over and over again for the next 20 hours just to progress the story that they may as well have put into cutscenes.
The Ferrari = Kia thing happened to me once. A TH-camr said that The Owl House was like Gravity Falls, so I went in with impossible expectations. The Owl House is a superficially similar show to Gravity Falls, but it lacks the fantastic writing and clever comedy that made that show great.
One thing I've noticed is that from the looks of it this game is the developers love project even though the game is already complete yet they have a whole roadmap set and even went back to Chernobyl so they can graph out a new map they wish to add.
@@obitosenju3768 The first few hours are boring and repetitive. The whole story isn't that great either, the side stuff that happens to move the story along is pretty nice, but the I NEED TO FIND MY WIFE Plot is just borderline....boring.

I would just like to see a decently bigger version with the same detail density that's already there. The world's look great and leveling up is fun, but building the base is one of the coolest features. Just with every item having significant importance to your survival.
Late to the party but I don't care. I loved the atmosphere of this game, the way they took real scans of buildings so you feel like you're there. SPOILERS: The game feels like it lost its direction halfway through development and you can REALLY tell they rewrote the story to accommodate removing the 30 day limit of the reactor blowing. At the start some choices have actual visible consequences, (Tarakan and Sashko's mission) but this is very short lived and by then end devolves into which part of the slideshow will change (the new vegas comparison is strong here) not to mention the ending was just terrible I thought the in mission choices would be important but they only seem to change whether you walk or shoot down a corridor and it all culminates with a slightly more annoying black stalker fight than what you've been so ng for your whole playthrough? Gameplay wise the ending was just bummy, despite getting right to the heart of the reactor with both my choices they were both killed by the game freezing me in place and scolding me as they died (to an npc i didnt kill 20 missions prior) after 2 months of waiting for it to drop I can safely say the end of the game is the most underutilized potential it had and I haven't even mentioned the M Night quality twist I will say this though future devs if you suddenly reveal I am what I've been killing all along you remove any investment in the story immediately it is a terrible trope and it weakened the shit out of this game, don't let it hamper yours.

I want a full series of Dimitri and Dale. I want to see their struggles, their triumphs, and their tribulations. I want to see Dale struggle with Dimitri's lack of effort in the relationship, and I want to see Dimitri find a new, healthier identity for himself than that of a simple generic thug.
The music at the end is"he was a good stalker" from the stalker soundtrack if you were wandering

So I just binge watched all of your stuff over the past couple of days while on night shift. And while I don’t always 100% agree on everything you say I do love your content man, I hope you never stop making videos. You seem to be the only person making content about hard hitting shit in the video game industry right now and I along with many others I’m sure really appreciate it.
playing "He was a Good Stalker" at the end was a nice touch. Love hearing that song when sitting at a campfire in the zone
I just recently bought this game and beat it, so as a 15 year old who's attention span isn't great I like the fact that the game was able to hold my attention for the 22ish hours I put into the game
DJPC: "Ubisoft, are you going to go back to the 'Gaze not into the abyss', Apocalypse Now, Heart of Darkness thing with Far Cry?"
Ubisoft: "What are you talking about? I never did that."
Every FC2 fan: "YOU TITLED THE LAST MISSION *HEART OF DARKNESS*! YOU FUCK!"
The amount of dumbing down from fc2 thru 3,4 and 5 is just depressing. Imagine far cry 5 with the brutality of 2, would have been amazing

What I like about this game is that this game is the perfect blend between Stalker, Metro and Fallout 4. The setting of Stalker, the deep, dragging and gritty story telling of Metro and the functionality of Fallout, all franchieses that I love and adore since they came out.
Wow, the Ferrari analogy was incredibly good. You go in basically expecting a sequel to one of your favorite games

This game is like a rolling snowball. The more you play it the more it consumes you and the deeper you want to delve. I loved playing through it and I'm excited to play through again soon now that they've had a large content update
Cobbler's slowly becoming a Stalker TH-camr, and I love it 😅.

@@goldenwolfe5085 yooooo so trueeee it's like when the thing to thing did thing
It would be interesting to know if the Dev's intended to make a STALKER clone with some added mechanics, or were simply inspired by the themes and had their own idea for the core of the game.
Why would you put Mr. Worldwide in an orphanage
“I know you want me
You know I want cha”
Chernobylite isn't a bad name for a mineral found only in chernobyl. Andesine is a mineral named for being found in the Andes. Ilmenite is from Ilmen Mountains. Tokyoite should be obvious. Baghdadite. Bytownite from bytown. Hell theres Fordite/Detroit Agate which is just the layers upon layers of automotive paint from old factories being used as a gemstone.
For a whiny pedant that was a bad line.
Which I only commented about because your stuff is so high quality that such a small thing stood out, very nice videos.
Edit: Oh wait chernobylite itself is actually a real thing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobylite
The way you bagged on fallout 4 made me laugh. I played that game when I was a lot younger and got bored of it so I never finished it, but you hit the nail on the head as to why I lost my engagement with it.
You had me at "uncircumcised"

Hey, have you played the Metro series?
I can imagine you'd like it.
The russians know how to write some really compelling dystopian fiction. Personally, Metro has the kind of odd appear as something like Dune has. Its some kind of primordial enviroment that speaks to us on a level that actually transcends the content of the work. 'The Underground'. 'The Desert'. These are places which remain totally exotic to us, I think because they are so inhospitable

Holy shit this comment is glorious
I disagree, I would say the first 5-8 hours is the good part of the game as you first discover all the gameplay and the maps, after that, it is doing the same mission on the same maps over and over again for the next 20 hours just to progress the story that they may as well have put into cutscenes.
I’ve followed the development of Chernobylite for about 2 years, seems like a good game. No point of this comment
The fact that this game isn't trying to emulate S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a very big selling point for me!
Just picked this up a few days ago, it’s pretty great.
The Ferrari = Kia thing happened to me once. A TH-camr said that The Owl House was like Gravity Falls, so I went in with impossible expectations. The Owl House is a superficially similar show to Gravity Falls, but it lacks the fantastic writing and clever comedy that made that show great.
Glad to hear that the game seem to be something I enjoy, choices, bases and a group.
Will add it to my wishlist, good review!
One thing I've noticed is that from the looks of it this game is the developers love project even though the game is already complete yet they have a whole roadmap set and even went back to Chernobyl so they can graph out a new map they wish to add.
FUN FACT: CHERNOBYLITE'S REAL LIFE COUNTERPART IS CALLED CORIUM, AND ONLY EXISTS INSIDE THE BASEMENT OF THE SARCOPHAGUS IN PRIPYAT

What is the Caveat of Chernobylte? I am 10 days into it and I don't see it?( this is not me saying you are wrong but just that I am wondering)
@@obitosenju3768 The first few hours are boring and repetitive. The whole story isn't that great either, the side stuff that happens to move the story along is pretty nice, but the I NEED TO FIND MY WIFE Plot is just borderline....boring.
I enjoyed this game quite a bit myself. Honestly just thought it was too short. I wouldn't mind if I made a better updated version with AAA standards. Games like this have a great replayability.
Seriously, there are areas in this game that are near photoreal to their URL counterparts and it was a genuine pleasure to experience that.
This game is definitely worth your time. Soak it all in, you just might enjoy it. I know I did.
I really hope counselling works out for Dmitry and Dale! Anything worth anything needs work put into it, and I'm sure they'll figure it out.

SPOILERS:
The game feels like it lost its direction halfway through development and you can REALLY tell they rewrote the story to accommodate removing the 30 day limit of the reactor blowing.
