You can typically find these on Gun Broker for fairly cheap as well. Just do everyone a favor and don't neuter a old long barrel 1897 or 20 inch riot barreled 1897 by converting it to a Trench pattern. It ruins a perfectly good firearm, and makes the gun market even more scarce for these old girls.
I agree with the macho bravado but why are politics bad? Many politicians today are trying to take guns away from people and this might destroy channels like this as these politicians and extreme left parties keep pushing further against guns.

I acquired an original '97 from a friend whose father passed. He didn't want to sell it to anyone else since he knew how much I'd appreciate it. It's a very special piece in my collection.

The X on the left was my target. (the shot almost in the bullseye on the right X was my father in laws first shot after I made adjustments) The two shots circled are my first 2 shots. Then I brought it down - shot once. Then brought it over to the left. From there zeroed it in to dead center. This all was from 25 yards out. Follow instructions carefully when mounting the scope. So far I'm very happy with the purchase.

I fell in love with the Winchester 1897 when I bought my first one for Cowboy Action Shooting matches. At one point I had 5 originals in my gun safe, I basically bought everyone I came across on the Canadian gun forum. For speed shooting in matches I had a natural advantage, I'm right handed but left eye dominant. I could keep the stock on my left shoulder and feed shells from my belt with my right hand. I absolutely loved those guns, glad you're enjoying that nice reproduction trench gun !!
I have had mine for fifty plus years. The reasons are all the same. But just recently I have moved to Browning's next design. The Remington 11 semi auto. It will challenge an 1897. I still have and will always have my 97
You can slick it up a little and make that Norinco a little smoother. Cowboy Action Shooters know who would be able to do that for you. 1897's are AWESOME!👍
picked up a 1917 standard '97 takedown few weeks and if i ever happen to find a lone front end of a takedown, which i doubt will happen, i might make that into a trench configuration.so far fun to shoot though.
Nah, original examples are somewhat notorious for having issues today. Can't really hold it against them since they're century old budget guns, but most modern designs are significant improvements over this one.
Love my Norinco 97. Same barrel length but no heat shield. If you were in my area I'd lend some stuff you haven't covered yet, judging by the snow.. I'm doubting it.

It’s crazy how little the shotgun has changed in it’s original form.

There's something about the short receiver and exposed hammer which makes the 1897 so especially elegant.
That makes the whole shotgun more special than other shotgun nowadays.
