Thank you Dr Snipes for your knowledge on emotions and for sharing this with us. Emotionally, I'm a wall. Quite often, I'm afraid of my emotions. I don't know how to feel good. I have been taught that to know our emotions we have to first name them. Thanks for explaining how to name our emotions and how to learn the function of our emotions. I'm afraid of getting to know my emotions. Usually my emotions are wrapped up in anger. Thank you for teaching us what emotional intelligence is. 1) to name the emotion, 2) to know the function of the emotions, 3) to learn the triggers of our emotions. Winnie the Pooh characters give us good examples of different emotions. Distress tolerant thoughts and activities are excellent techniques for handling the emotions. Thank you again Dr. Snipes for your teaching on emotions.

You’re so welcome, Bill. I hope you know how grateful I am for you and how blessed I feel to help you in your journey. As you know, Anger is the Fight part of our threat response system. It acts like a bulldozer and pushes people away but does nothing to resolve the underlying issue.
You have to take a look at what is underneath that anger. What is the threat that your body is trying to protect you from?
Once you have identified that, other issues, issues related to why you are afraid to show weakness can be dealt with. Remember, you have to deal with all emotional aspects of a situation.

Doc Snipes asks a very key question @8:38 mark....I would say adjusting verbiage accordingly will help to identify and determine nuances in emotional feeling and expression ....to be "eager" about something is very different than feeling anxious
There are so many nuances to explore regarding the topic overall

Near the @8:28 portion , you make a key point about differentiating the feeling of "anxiousness" vs "eagerness"... many people confuse the two terms in colloquial exchange

It’s very individual…but consider what would you do with the information if you could get it? Often, we focus on anything but feeling the feelings we need to feel.
Trying to figure out the effects of living in fight/flight for a long time isn’t solution oriented.
What can you do now, today, to calm your nervous system? What habits can you do daily to cultivate a sense of calm? How can you face the loss/grief of all that has happened (including being in sympathetic nervous system activation for so long)?
Those questions, and solutions that come from them, are where your empowerment is. That’s where healing and regulation will come to be your norm.
