- Welcome back! Out of all the V8 AMG-Mercedes cars to come out of the factory over the years, there are far more memorable models than the W203 C55 AMG. To help burn this car back into his memory, Brooks has swapped the slushbox automatic for a 6-speed manual, accompanied by an ever-changing list of modifications to prep this car for track use. HUGE thanks to @anderzén for bringing out these two polar opposite gems. Just a great day of driving... his C55 is a perfect balance between power, brakes, and grip. It's still got room to where another 50hp and it would be at that sweet spot where you could get some hairy powerslides if you wanted to but could still comfortably drive it for grip/track stuff. Love that there's room. What do you guys think?!

It's not a manual but I have a smaller pulley/mapped C32 Estate.
Nobody has any idea what it is.

Fair enough haha! Front end does nothing for me, those headlights are awful. Rear end is alright but a bit tall.
@@RoadsUntraveledeach to their own. For me w204 is really ugly and has aged so much worse than w203 from the front.
Rear however w203 and s203 dont look that great vs w204

Hey dude, random question, but those hood struts - Are they standard? Or is that an aftermarket part? If so, what are they? Because being able to fully raise the hood while retaining the struts is genius.

I bought my C55 AMG also because of legitstreetcars and I’m glad I did , love the car and love to drive it. I think you just made the car 1000 times better with the manual swap .

The fitment on this car is so subtle but makes it SO much better.
Appreciate you acknowledging that!! People throw flack because they want it lower… it wouldn’t help anything function wise for a car that gets properly ripped through all kinds of roads 🤙🏼
You have a good point I remember when Mercedes started naming all their mid-range cars "43" AMGs always thought that was a really strange move.

Oh what a dream! I wish I could have done a manual swap on my C32 AMG Sportscoupe. 3 years ago I swapped the supercharged 4-Cylinder 200 Kompressor engine out of my W203 Sportscoupe for the M112k and also wanted to build it from the ground up as a manual. But I couldn't find a suitable gearbox, clutch and flywheel and in Germany I had to do a change report for emissions, since the M112k wasn't never released with a manual, which would have cost me 3k €. So I stayed with the automatic.😭
But I always dream of the M112k in combination with a manual.
It's interesting to know that Brooks went for the C350 Gearbox with stock clutch and flywheel and it seems to hold up very well since a long period of time as he told in the video.👍

Common mistakes to call them black series brakes but they’re not. Black series uses a larger 6 piston caliper and a thicker rotor for even better stopping performance. These are 360x32 while the black series uses 360x36. Otherwise awesome video!
Yea I think I threw so much benz nerd info at him from talking that day it just got mixed up 😅, they are from a CLK63 AMG base/vert model 🤙🏼

It's really weird how even the old AMGs were automatic.
Early clutches could be heavy or notchy in high horsepower applications. Amg went with automatics
C36/C43 and even these later C55s were definitely not high horsepower in my book but I get what you're saying. I think it was just an issue of target demographic.
@@RoadsUntraveled is the manual faster than the automatic? because AMG unlike BMW is not about making a driving machine, they just want to make really fast luxury cars
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566this car is definitely faster now but it’s not stock anymore either so hard to say for sure…. And it also depends on what test to determine faster in what regard. I do know from Dyno tuning on stock form it put down about 20hp more than a typical stock auto would have. So power loss is a bit less through the manual… can I shift faster than the 722.6, probably not lol
I also own a 2006 stock 100% c55. This would be awesome to do!

This is sick have wanted to do this to my c55. Unfortunately/fortunately it’s for sale I bought a c5 zo6 to accomplish what I wanted out of it. If anyone wants a good jumping off point on a car I have one up. 102k miles owned for 7 years 12,500 price in the us
