Nice job Elite Wheels for offering something a little different on the market. These Velo Six wheels probably aren’t ideal for sustained climbs due to their weight, but everything else makes for a great road wheel. I do suspect the power transfer aspect compensates for the weight.

I have a set of the Elite Drive 6 wheels which I've been running on my road bike for a year now. I just ordered a set of mixed depth Elite Drive 40/50 wheels which I'll put on my road bike in a few weeks and will shift my Drive 6 wheels over to my gravel bike. I love how unique they look and they're fast! I'm always getting comments about how cool they look from my riding buddies. Super fantastic wheels!

6 spoke looks great. Here in Germany we have bike ahead components. Much more premium but their logo looks cheap and not good. These are nicely stealth.

Hi Patrick. I purchased the d67 hyper last year which are awesome. How do these compare? I did a season racing tt on my road bike. Would these be faster for straights tt races then the d67? Hard to tell I guess, but keen for your opinion
Too heavy for a surgy crit. Maybe a good road race wheel if it’s totally flat. But honestly these are good recreational wheels. Not a primary set of race wheels

Thanks for the review! About how much do you weigh and what range of max watts do you produce? I'm pretty big; 6' 3" and I have destroyed a number of lower priced carbon wheels. Only Zipps have held up so far. Curious on what you think how robust these wheels would be for larger riders. Thank you.

@@PatrickLino Yoleo, Profile Design and Mavic. Destroyed the hub on the Profile Design and they didn't respond to the warranty. Yoleo and Mavic I put a "hop" on the rear that was not fixable. Using the Yoleo wheels on my "flat days" bike.
Thanks for reviewing the lower-priced wheels and bikes. I think the name-brand manufacturers have been getting way, way, way too expensive.

Thanks for watching! I've never had an issue using Shimano cassettes with SRAM eTap. Both outdoors and on the indoor trainer. However this should only be the exception not the norm.
thx for the review and I'm a normal 3-point rider. I using an drive 50d wheel and I feel hard as well. Can you feel much harder than this? I want to mount it on my cool s5 but I'm a little troubled considering the downside of uphill due to weight

Are these the future of carbon wheels? Listened to podcast where Joe (China cycling)was saying that Craft Works Racing Wheels are the next stage (3rd generation) of where carbon wheelsets are going but it more seems these wheels are in a league of their own and leading. The only downside I am seeing currently is the weight. If doing the spokes this way makes them less likely to break, more aero vs the craft type wheels, suspect the focus will be on making these lighter without losing its advantages.
By future as in seeing pros use this design? Highly unlikely. But they look cool and will most certainly be talked about out on the road.
@@PatrickLino so we instead play the game of slowly reducing the number of spokes from 24..21..16 (craft wheels). Uci requires at least 12 spokes. Before this rule there were wheels being raced by pros with less than 12 spokes. We are going back to the future , hopefully with also safety in mind

sir try balance the wheels. i use golf weight sticker to balance my wheels. it worth, balanced wheels will feel more smooth when we descend fast in the down hill. seeing how it shaking probably it need about 2 gram for counter the valve mass. i attach it on the inner rim then seal it with a rim tape.
It’s shaking because the bike is barely being held in place by the bike stand. No imbalances out in the actual real world.
I'm sure they are fast in a straight line but that stiffness is going to be too stiff for corners especially down a twisty mountain.
Shame I’m can’t test that theory here
@@PatrickLino it's probably for the best. You don't want to wash out while taking a downhill corner at speed.
@@JFomo then again…why are we using obviously aero wheels for climbing, when actual climbing exists? Haha I wouldn’t take my deep sections wheels down a descent either. And these wheels won’t climb well too
