Another song in which you should have just listen to the album first. You're listening to old men play music they made in their 20s. Listening to more recent times with Metallica live ain't the way to go. They aren't what they used to be. At least go back some decades when it comes to live.

My husband introduced me to Metallica when we were first started dating 33 years ago. This midwest country girl was blown away then and I still love rocking out to them now. If you really want a Metallica experience that will blow your mind, listen to their songs done in conjunction with the San Francisco Symphony.

What initial songs would you recommend I show people if I'm trying to introduce them? I love pretty much everything Metallica aside from a few obvious album, so it's hard for me to separate good beginner songs. What were some he introduced you to?

Not so fun fact: ya boy had a bit of a fucked up childhood, tried to take my life twice by the time I was graduating middle school. If not for this song specifically I'd have prolly tried even more times. Playing this song gave me an odd comfort, the sorrow I was feeling was soothed by the guitar while the lyrics assured me I was not alone and I could get through it. The aggressive nature of the music is where I put all my violent thoughts and let them flow right out of me. It was the late 80s and early 90s. a lil group in Washington called The parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was trying to get songs like this and other metal and rap songs banned or at the very least censored. Yet without this song I might not be here commenting on your reaction to it. There's your food for thought for the day Mr OLO. lol. "Blackened" (Not the porn site) is a great song of theirs about the Earth being literally polluted to death. It's kind of long but GOD D@MN do the guitars and drums rock out.

One thing a lot of people don’t know is that Metallica has meaning behind many of their songs. I think of them as the next generation of Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden put historical value into their songs. Metallica, on the other hand put real life value into their songs. From suicide to drug addiction to cancer. Many of their songs had a meaning and reason behind them. That’s just one of the things that makes them the greatest of all time. The metal band that every one else strives to be like, not as the sound but as in the status of being legendary.

I can appreciate the live version, but to hear it the way we first did, off the LP...that's its own experience. There's just a difference between the two, due to time and success. The original has more hurt in it.

Awesome to see Kirk Hammet playing “Greenie” the 1959 Gibson Les Paul. Probably the single most expensive guitar ever, it is rumoured that Kirk payed $4million for it.
It’s a guitar made famous by Peter Green from his time with Fleetwood Mac. You need to check out early Fleetwood Mac, let’s say ‘Albatross’
Then the guitar was made even more famous by Gary Moore. You need to check out Gary Moore, especially his blues from the late 80’s and 90’s

Metallica took some heat when this song came out because it’s a song about someone not wanting to live and then making that happen but now it’s been recognized by the WHO on International Suicide Prevention Day because of all the people who have said the song has prevented them from doing that.

You should react to the Master of Puppets performance in 2019 at Manchester! You won’t regret it, this concert was absolutely insane!

Ride the lightening! Best Metallica album, hands down. but, there's a theme...The entire album is about death in one form or another. Love it or hate it... I think it's amazing.

The song was written after their equipment was stolen, and James was inspired to write this song

I... just wish you could have reviewed the "back in the day" studio version... even though it might have been edited, I feel that it would have been better material for you to react upon ;)
