They've always been a band of many styles and they pull it off so well. They're more than just a metal band, they're world class musicans.
Exactly. They understood the importance of contrast. They knew when to speed up and when to slow down. This helped set them apart from the other Thrash and Metal bands at their time and even today as well. Their versatility gave the legend status and a permanent throne in Rock 'N Roll history.
That’s why it was so sad that Cliff died. He was a huge classic fan. That was if you want fusion. Like The Doors e.g. brought in many jazzy and classical parts within Rock Music.

I am old enough that I saw Metallica play live in 1989 for their and Justice for All (Damaged Justice) tour. I would say and Justice for all is their best album, but I know I will get disagreed with by those who prefer Master of Puppets. If you want an instrumental to react to I say Orion is a masterpiece. On AJFA Dyers eve, and Harvester of Sorrow are my favorites. Ride the Lightening I feel is their second best album. React to For Whom the bell tolls maybe?
Great Reaction! Anything up to “And Justice For All!” Most of us “older listeners” will like the original, old and raw Metallica. The stuff going forward is good too. There is a definitive change to the music when they put out “Enter Sandman” and “Sad But True”… still great, but different! I’d love to see a response to “And Justice For All”!
This is such a beautiful song and powerful. In my teens when I was angry, sad or whatever this was on of my go too to chill out. One of my favorite, and one of Metallica most heavy song on this album is The Thing That Should Not Be.
This is such an amazing album. Their first five albums are legendary. My personal favorite album from them is Ride The Lightning but Master of Puppets is definitely a close second. The thing that makes these albums so iconic is not just the help of pioneering the thrash metal genre, the uniqueness of them using both hard/fast juxtaposed by slow/emotional, but also how each album plays like a greatest hits album despite just being a regular album because every single song is a 10/10. This song loke quite a few other of Metallica's best songs is based off of a movie/book. This one in particular is inspired by Two Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Lyrically and sonically just hit ut out of the ballpark. The lead singer is James Hetfield. Great reaction, Pollo. Can't wait for more Metallica whenever you have the time. This was a pleasant surprise.
Cliff Burton (major rager on the four string mother fucker) was my favorite musician growing up. You can definitely hear and feel the void in their music since he died. RIP Cliff 😢
Random trivia for the casual listeners of this tune... from post solo 9:45 onward to the specific riffs around 10:32 are a nod to rush - tom sawyer. Hetfield thanks rush in the liner notes of the album for the inspiration
Kirk Hammett the guitarist was taught by Joe Satriani, and I personally believe that the speed and technicality will always fall second to the ability to make every note sound like a voice you want to sing to: FIT THE SONG.
This song is incredible! Everything just sounds so good together. Master Of Puppets and And Justice For All are the best 2 Metallica albums. No bad songs
Can't believe it is going on 40 years since my ears first heard Metallica. Back then Metallica was not played on the radio or on MTV, so it wasn't until they're 3rd album, Master of Puppets, reached the record stores in the Midwest. I was a teenaged metal head still looking for music that spoke to me. Hearing the first track, Battery, blew me away. The entire album was like nothing I had ever heard before, and still rates as my favorite album all time. I went back and bought everything Metallica I could get my hands on, and have bought up everything they've put out since. I'm in my 50's, and still want Orion to be played when they lower my casket into the ground some day. Great reaction, welcome to the world of Metallica. Enjoy the ride 🤟

Nice one. My favourite Metallica song, and has been since I first heard in in 1986. I don't think it's too long. The perfect combination in a metal song. 🤘🔥
Kid growing up listening to rap and metal we lived in Milwaukee summer of 87 me and my older brother went to a run dmc concert! Loved it! I get the rap vibe grew up knowing many rap artist. now being 51 now! But later on my interest grew more back to metal...loved rap I early 80's & early 90's. Always loved my metal! Plenty of hard-core metal bands out there!
As a Metallica fan for about 40 years, it's so cool seeing people find them now and enjoy such great music from decades ago. Master of Puppets, in my opinion, is one of the greatest albums ever made. Tragically it was the last time we got to hear the work of Cliff Burton. James, Kirk and Lars all credit Cliff with coming up with the arrangements and melodies that make this album so iconic. Disposable Heros is still my favorite song from the record, but there isn't a bad track on Master of Puppets. So glad you're enjoying.
This song.....my family always calls it my time in "private school". It was tough I was 15 and so alone and angry. Those times built a very firm foundation. Now I'm 53 and life is good. Better than I deserve I assure you.

Fact: I have a history of major depression / sui side and many years ago I had a friend who attempted, and he was committed to a facility for several weeks as his wrists and mental health healed. One night, I got a phone call at 10pm, saying that it was collect and from my friend. He was being released, but had nowhere to go, and I said that he could crash with me, so I had 1 hour to get my place ready. I called a bunch of our friends who came over, I bought a cake (wrote on it: "Welcome home Sanitarium" ) and had this song blasting as he came in. I'll never forget the huge smile he had on his face. I wasn't supposed to have overnight (unregistered guests) so I snuck him in for a month until he could find work and another place to live. We're no longer in touch, but last I heard he moved out of state closer to family and was doing well. Metallica and metal = positive mental health.
All Metallica is good Metallica. There are so many great songs. Such melodic guitar rifts mixed with aggressive hard rifts from both James and Kurt, Lars's drums are perfect for this song and the base mixes well too. I have been a fan since they published ride the lighting.
The Entire Album is Metallica's Masterpiece. One of the top 20 greatest albums of all time! Every song is amazing and an entity all it's own. Pay attention to the songs. It's kind of a concept album, and each song tells a part of a story.
one of their greatest songs so far. Have been waiting for that one for you to react to. Nice father days present, thanks. This phase of their song writing is amazing. They play with themes, intros, outros, great powerfull solos and shifts in speed throughout their songs. This one is one of their stellar works.
You've been the most emotionless reactor with incredible insight and intuitive response to Metallica that I've ever seen. Lol. So calm, but sees the vision that the band had to offer in their music. Kudos to you sir. Great reaction. 🤘😀
They've been around since 1982. Back then, we got bootlegs. I got the tape Metallica Kill them all. Out of the trunk of a car. The radio stations wouldn't play this music back then. After hearing that album, I was a fan for life
Cliff Burton was the bassist before his untimely passing on tour in Europe The bus crashed. Burton is classically trained and taught his hard driving hard drinking friends music theory and composition. Going back to music school and classical training Burton (RIP) met another phenomenal guitarist who also died too young, (RIP) Randy Rhoads. Who played with Ozzy Ozbourne. Interestingly Metallica's current and third bassist (recorded at lease) Robert Trujillo also played for Ozzy. Metallica has mad respect for the The Prince of Darkness.
Great reaction! Genuine and authentic, which is lacking in most YT reactions! I think some of the adjectives that best describe Metallica's music are: layered, dynamic, deep, substance, heavy, emotional, and massive. James and Kirk are state of the art musicians, and Cliff (the bassist on this album) was world class elite; but, unfortunately he was killed during the tour for this album in a bus accident. I'm gonna check out the rest of your Metallica reactions, and hope that you do more, a lot more! Liked and sub'd!
Metallica’s genius is that they create a complete picture. The lyrics combine with the vocals and the instruments and take you on a journey. Please, please, please if you’re listening to Metallica for the fist time, listen more than once and pay attention to the lyrics. You won’t me disappointed.
Metallica is part of the reason I'm such an empathetic person today. Not a lot of people back then were writing with the kind of compassion they did about dehumanized people. They raised the collective consciousness.
this album is a masterpiece front to back and even though most people consider this their crown jewel or magnum opus, while agree, i love and justice for all more to be honest.
Yeah for me my personal favorite is Ride The Lightning but I bet we can all agree that their first five albums are untouchable when it comes to quality.
Saw them at Radio City in Anaheim in 1982. I think it was their first gig. not sure. I don't remember much of what was played, covers I think, but one song, Am I Evil, stuck in my head. My buddy and I thought they were ok, loud enough. We went because my buddy used to play tennis with Dave Mustaine, who was the guitarist at the time.
I was 15 yo when this song came out. It is still my absolute favorite Metallica song. This is back when it was something special and unique to be a Metallica fan. Just leave me alone.
Metallica is my favorite metal band because the music takes me on a journey. They’re the most musical metal band I’ve heard. Cliff Burton, the original bass player who died after Master of Puppets album, heavily influenced the band’s sound back then because of his knowledge of classical music. And his bass sound was just killer but all of the instruments and James Hetfield’s vocals went so well together… Sometimes I think that if Cliff was alive today, Metallica would be taking us on some more of those magical journeys. I miss that…
I can listen to this song and album anytime anywhere and be put at ease. I seriously and literally feel asleep listening to this back in the eighties it calms me so. Yeah I said calms. Great video thanks for memories.
One of my favorites, because I was institutionalized for the first time in 3rd grade and love from the Paradise Lost documentaries about the West Memphis Three about three metalhead outcasts who got railroaded for murder charges which you should check out
I am 56 years old ! Metallica by far in my opinion is the best period ! They have all qualities and vocals! There own distinct sound ! That is different from anyone else period!
This whole album is fire and arguably one of the best albums any genre. It is an entire story from beginning to end. Perfection in my opinion.

You've been the most emotionless reactor with incredible insight and intuitive response to Metallica that I've ever seen. Lol. So calm, but sees the vision that the band had to offer in their music. Kudos to you sir. Great reaction. 🤘😀
This band inspired me to learn guitar. Born in 1983, been playing ever since
Yeeessss!!!! Great selection Polo! Happy Father's day to you Sir!
This is my favourite Metallica song. Its got everything.
My all time favourite as well. The whole album is amazing but nothing else hits me quite like this.
They've been around since 1982. Back then, we got bootlegs. I got the tape Metallica Kill them all. Out of the trunk of a car. The radio stations wouldn't play this music back then. After hearing that album, I was a fan for life
Cliff Burton was the bassist before his untimely passing on tour in Europe
The bus crashed.
Burton is classically trained and taught his hard driving hard drinking friends music theory and composition.
Going back to music school and classical training Burton (RIP) met another phenomenal guitarist who also died too young, (RIP) Randy Rhoads.
Who played with Ozzy Ozbourne.
Interestingly Metallica's current and third bassist (recorded at lease)
Robert Trujillo also played for Ozzy.
Metallica has mad respect for the The Prince of Darkness.
Never forget I had to wear my Metallica master of puppet shirt hundreds of times when this album came out.. It brings back many memories man..
Dude, Gord Downie played his last concert knowing he was terminally I’ll, and the whole country went fuckin crazy
Saw them on this tour bangers all,.
One of my favorite Metallica songs!
They sound even better today 🔥🔥
My all Time Favorite song!!!
The soundtrack of 2 am on a school night.. one of the many Metallica songs that helped settle my troubled brain before sleep. ❤
I was 15 yo when this song came out. It is still my absolute favorite Metallica song. This is back when it was something special and unique to be a Metallica fan. Just leave me alone.
Happy fathers day brother x love metallica so much my son ❤
Metallica is my favorite metal band because the music takes me on a journey. They’re the most musical metal band I’ve heard. Cliff Burton, the original bass player who died after Master of Puppets album, heavily influenced the band’s sound back then because of his knowledge of classical music. And his bass sound was just killer but all of the instruments and James Hetfield’s vocals went so well together… Sometimes I think that if Cliff was alive today, Metallica would be taking us on some more of those magical journeys. I miss that…
awesome brother thanks for sharing your view on the band that changed my life
One of my favorite Metallica songs
One of the greatest metal albums of all time. Listen to the entire thing. Amazing from start to finish.
Check live performance of this song from Seattle 89. I have goosebumps even after I watch the video thousands time :)
I can listen to this song and album anytime anywhere and be put at ease. I seriously and literally feel asleep listening to this back in the eighties it calms me so. Yeah I said calms. Great video thanks for memories.
Oh yeah windows down cranked is one of the best ways to listen to this
Metallica is just home, its just comfort in my heart. ❤
Watch the live version from Seattle 1989 - the best live performance of this song. Especially the last 2 minutes.
Saw this show live in Chicago when they opened for ozzy
One of my favorites, because I was institutionalized for the first time in 3rd grade and love from the Paradise Lost documentaries about the West Memphis Three about three metalhead outcasts who got railroaded for murder charges which you should check out
I will just say it Metallica is amazing it is what inspired me as a drummer to be better. We can learn a lot from how they moved so many people
anything off master of puppets is absolute gold
This song was truly iconic for the angry, neglected , and misunderstood 80s generation, of which I was one.
This album was the gamechanger in metal in 1986.
I am 56 years old ! Metallica by far in my opinion is the best period ! They have all qualities and vocals! There own distinct sound ! That is different from anyone else period!
Song is written about the book and movie One Flew Over The Cockoos Nest
Love love me some Metallica
