Great video!! Entertaining and imformative! The Redcat took quite a beating, those pavement jumps are really hard on a rig. Took it like a champ!! Servo and tires are a given with most any rtr in my experience. A half priced Hoss that handles better and equally tough! Nice job Redcat!! This MT10 is a hidden gem indeed!! Looks good. I wouldn't let rain stop me, in fact I love RC's and mud. The only downside is cleaning afterwards but i have a method my mate and I came up with in the 80's to keep em clean in all weather.
Find a pack of freezer bags that is just big enough to drop the chassis tub in. Take off the 4 wheels, drop the chassis in the bag, poke the axles through the bag, put the wheels on, tie up the open end of the bag around the wheelie bar, poke the body mounts through the bag and pop the body on.
Adapt the method slightly for each different car but once you have done it a few times it is not much more difficult than throwing a battery in.
Works a treat.

Bummer!! Hopefully you don't shop there anymore? One of the reasons I don't go to the local shops anymore, they always push what "they" like, which is usually TRX. Nothing wrong with TRX, as long as you have a fat wallet,LOL. Redcat is hit or miss..definitely gotta do the research on it before buying one as some models are really weak while others are really good.
Very cool! I love my Redcats!! My Blackout is tuff as nails too!! Its awesome the neighbors have fun watching all the fun!! Oh hint for you. Its most likely a hobby wing ESC and you can use a program card to set up the ESC and lighten up the brakes.
That neighbor is actually a friend since high school lol. The perfect house happened to be 2 doors down from him. The other neighbors are gonna have it out here whether they want it or not 🤣.

Great video!! Horizon finally got my Mt10 our to me- what a beast!! I saw today where redcat recalled the machete for now due to needing to replace the front arms- I like how this one flies‼️👍👍🦾🦾

I've been bashing and learning the Redcat v1 Kaiju since pandemic hit. Figured it was the right time for a big rig!! Was not/am not disappointed!! All in, all the upgrades, all the damage, learning it's weaknesses, and strengths... I would do it all over again. 4s is the sweet spot on that rig, in my opinion, and, the original version has a much shorter wheel base, and amazing tires, so amazing, even the traxxas kids love them.

I've had the old version and, yes I spent more time on the roof than on wheels 🤣. Invest in replacement shock towers and keep the pinion gear stock (9T). I reinforced the body with duct tape and its holding up ok. I upgraded the pinion and the speed control shut it down because of overheating. Great Video! Peace!

About one of these because of this video and unfortunately have recently broken the servo saver at the skate park. But other than that its been solid fun, keep up the awesome vids fam!!!!

Yo! The Redcat Dukono is on sale right now for 100 off. It’s 139.00! The body is super thin and a horrible and I’ve actually doubled the body up and reinforced it but the wheels are phenomenal and the shocks are phenomenal. I’ve had mine since 2018 and the shocks still work exceptionally well and the tires I’ve told you about in the past they’re amazing. The differentials can also handle 2S power no problem if you add a brushless system. It’s a really good RC with a few upgrades and modifications.

So i got this Exact truck 2 months ago and can finally drive it due to snow clearing up, but gotta ask how you switch to 3S, im new to rc's and this is my first one, im loving it and its fun but i feel it can do alot more too
if it is a battery thing, how could you tell whether your current battery is or isnt 3s
The battery should have a voltage reading. 2s is 7.4 volts and 3s is 11.1 volts.
The smaller “balance plug” will have 3 wires of its a 2s and will have 4 wires if it’s a 3s.
This would be a decent battery for it. There are two packs available as well.

So I have this truck and I replaced the rear pinion and diff spur gear (?) and when I put it back in, it took about 2 minutes for the grinding to come back and ultimately a no go. Do you think just putting the optional center diff and replacing the front and rear pinions will fix the problem? What weight fluid for front and back? It got me really discouraged as it was my first time with and working on a fairly hardcore machine.
Interesting. It should certainly take some pretty hard abuse like in this video before that happens, however , landing jumps while holding the trigger at all or doing crazy ground maneuvers can certainly kill them pretty quickly.
The center diff should make a huge difference though!

I like the epx pro but ive always had issues blowing diffs on 3s
1/12 scale cars and larger should always have a center diff or atleast the option for one. Hopefully they’ll be more standard eventually. That will help with drivetrain problems

Yup! It sure did! I’m sure you could find all kinds of cool things to do to it. Trying to figure out what tires I want for it now. I saw you’ve had those cheap 1/10 2.8” tires on your mt10 that I’ve used in my Flyhal, do those work well on it? (If you know which tires I’m talking about)

Yeah man, those cheap 2.8 tires were actually really good. They handled 4s power no problem.
For the price, I would definitely recommend those. They fit good on the mt10 and performed surprisingly well. Great traction and just the right amount of ballooning.

I'm actually rebuilding my mt10 again. Putting the stock chassis(short wheelbase) back on it.
Preparing to make it a street build in the next couple months.
Going to drive it around like a monster truck till the street parts get here. Should be an interesting experiment I think.

I broke the steering linkage. I don't know what's called. It has silver ring below it. There is a screw that goes from the bottom red plate up into a tube Through it. It's trapped in chassis. It seems to be stripped. It will tighten but won't loosen. There is another screw directly above it that actually back's out when I tried to loosen it. I noticed the screw directly across it does the same thing. Any ideas. Thank you for the video. And also what it the name of plastic steering assembly above the ring that controls everything. Again thanks for any input

The rear diff went on mine. probably about the same amount of run time it took for your front to go.
That truck should absolutely come with the center diff

Hey Derby, I have a question about my newest truck which i cant find the answer to and im hoping you might know. Just bought a Redcat Blackout XBE pro and I noticed that when im not on the throttle there is tons of drag. I hooked up my program card and its set to 0 drag. Is all that drag normal or is mine defective? Thanks in advance.
It really shouldn’t have drag. Does that remote have a throttle trim on it? If so, be sure it’s set to 0 or in the middle. Or possible need to adjust it slightly forward.
@@DerbyCityRC The problem was actually the massive dust cover and the plastic that covers the diffs. if you tighten the screws, it has the drag. if its loose there is 0 drag.
Great vid. Do you know what is different between mt10 e and mt 10 ? Looking in UK and mt10 seems different internally to your mt10e besides different shell. Keep up the great work
Yes they’re completely different manufacturers so they are very different. Electronics, plastics, complete design.

I almost got this one instead of my Team A MT-10. Prices were good on both of them. I ended up deciding on the Rival, but it’s good to know that no matter which way I would of gone, (Team A or Redcat); either would of been a great choice. I’ve got some other Redcats. And love’ em ! I got me this exact one finally worked out all the tweaks. Breaking an A arm seams like TA has H arms. Sometimes I really wonder if it would of been better if I would of gotten TA. After working everything out with my diff issues I think RC did a good job. TA just re-released it???!!!!
You think the TA seams better? So far been hard to compare, especially once I get the center diff in my redcat. Yes they did just make a version 2 of the rival but it’s the exact same thing with a different body
1st upgrade, needs to be Belted Duratrax C2 Hatchet MTs.
The truck NEEDS belted wheels, to be controllable. The stock tires, balloon like no one’s business.
Then a Center Diff, with 100k diff oil.
Beyond that, all I did was swap in a Flysky Noble receiver to add it to my transmitter, throw in some stabilizer bars, and an HPI D Box 2.
Very fun basher. Just make sure it’s not cold, when you bash. The plastics are tough, but get really brittle in lower temps.

That's funny. Literally the only 2 upgrades I did was immediately upon ordering I ordered the center diff. Fluid I put in 100k. Full throttle will ride a wheelie for about 40 feet without flipping on its back. 2nd was order the 17mm hexes from Team Magic so I could take the belted Hatchet MTs off my JLB Cheetah and put on it. I just put 80wt in the shocks and am waiting to receive the hardened springs. After that I'm thinking about upgrading to the 11 or 13 tooth pinion, but that center diff with 100k is a must have for this truck!
I did the center diff with 100k before I put on the belted Hatchets. Ime that's first thing you should do. That center diff is a must!

Optional center diff with 100k w fluid makes it damn near perfect! Full throttle from take off will ride a wheelie for about 40 feet without flipping on its back.

On my Kraton I prefer 500k in the center, but this is much lighter and has a smaller wheel base so 100k is probably perfect. Getting ready to order the center diff and a new front diff!!
@@DerbyCityRCI swear I remember the center diff being crazy expensive. The metal upgrades from Team Redcat were like 2 to 3x over priced! Fully upgrade in 2019 it was like 600 lol😮😢😅
I think it’s only like $28, which is pretty reasonable. So far that’s the only upgrade I even feel the need to do!! 😀
@@DerbyCityRC The RC is killer. I remember telling you to get it over and over. Servo horn broke on me 2x but apparently there’s an upgrade. I gotta check when I start running it again. It looks like you kept the rude height stock but I raised the suspension and ride height. Tires are good but they need an upgrade. Other than that it’s SO GOOD! I loved watching you run it. Yeah yup. Yup. Yup. Is it cool I got all the drinks in here and everything for him. Are used to watch these. Italian guys are Reparto RC all the time. I can’t actually remember the name right now but when I find the channel I’ll hit you to it but they would kill that RC at the skate park.

Yup definitely a front diff issue. Replace that and probably that front diff pinion, add the center diff and she’ll be a totally different beast!

Yes it definitely is. Atleast it had power. Ten times better than how my 6s Kraton steered out of the box.

Had this truck for about three years and it even got ran over by a Corolla only broke two wheels and a axel stub off and wheelie bar and now have a 66 f100 body on it

I like that green color but the diff issues is something that stops me.i would prefer the rival mt10 with the new graphics as the price is close and the rival has the third diff installed already! ( give us more video mate!)
Yes I agree. Performance on this one may be a bit better than the rival and I’m confident once that center diff is installed, it will solidify the drivetrain. (Also I was very hard on those gears lol. I’m not surprised at all!) Rival is an amazing choice either way!!

I've tried spreading the word of this rc. I think it's one of the best 10th scales. This and the helion/rival MT10 are the best buys for rcs in the $300 range. I've owned a granite and big rock and this bad boy is much better. I'd recommend DEFINITELY getting the center diff kit. Can find them for around $30 bucks and completes the truck. Helps with that violent power it has with the stock direct drive

OMG! Do I have anything or everything to do with you buying my favorite 1/10 scale monster truck ever? The king of the Skate Park. Actually tougher than the Granite to me and with one upgrade I believe it’s tougher than the rival.

@@DerbyCityRC the one upgrade is the servo horn. I tortured mine without a center diff and it still was brutally tough. I never land on throttle though and it’s definitely my favorite monster truck without a center diff. The Redcat Dukono suffers even more than the 10E without a center DIFF. I do remember one upgrade in 2019 being like 160 bucks! The suspension on the MT10e and the Dukono are both awesome!

I forgot to add the front metal chassis guard, and I don’t wanna get the word out there too much but TRUST ME order the metal front chassis guard and a few arms etc… I FEAR its being discontinued and parts will dry up but don’t tell anyone 😂😢
If your in any way shape or form shooting to become an RC enthusiast, and want something that will be of much higher quality.. it is highly advised you not waste your money on RedCat anything!

I understand, but I disagree. I like Arrma, but don’t have any 4s yet. I’ve got a 6s Kraton, and a 3s Senton. I was going to get a 4s outcast but got turned off by the chassis easily breaking. This car is so far easily as good as the team associated mt10, which is definitely worth the money.
Oh yeah, the brakes 😅. I had to drop the ABS to 10% on 3s, or the truck would flip if you even tapped the brake.

What did you do to adjust the brakes?
Try the newest version Arrma Granite BLX. It is a flipping trick monster. I've broken less parts on the arrma blx line than the Team Associated MT-10. ...Or, get a Typhon 3s and put cheap 1/8 (6inch OD) tires on it, since it has 17mm hexes. That is my go to for triple back and front flips. Super durable too. ...Then get an XMaxx. I've had one for a year and have only broken the back bumper and one 54 tooth Spur gear. It is crazy durable when left in stock. ...well, a few upgrades.
Thanks! A granite has been in my list for a while and almost what I got instead of the redcat. The xmaxx is also on my list and could be sooner rather than later. Just don’t know yet 🤣

Hahahah OMG I just did a review on those exact same hilldow sport power batteries. I actually liked them. I was sceptical but they performed really well against my zee and sypom batteries, they actually ran the rc cars I used in the video faster than the zee and sypom did. I'm curious to see how you'll like them.

Yes it does and the body shell is pretty weak, but the rival mt10 sounds the same way. Just very plastic-y cars.

The body shell is actually pretty robust Iv beat on mine and landed some flips on its lid from 6-7 feet in the air several times and there’s 0 cracks. Iv slid it on its lid trying to learn how it likes to wheelie several times over and noticed it doesn’t even really scratch that much. It does but less than other RC’s I have owned by “better” more name brand companies. This shell is thick compared to a slash or a rival and others. The sound you hear is the shell vibration on the body mounts. Once you throw some gorilla tape inside the body it is silent.

In the US it’s $330. Even if you add the center diff kit, that takes it to $360. Not a bad price for what you get at all.
Easy to adjust the brake level. The servo saver will break and make you life HE double 🏒🏒 .. don't get this truck people!!
