- I bought both the motor and ESC on ebay really cheap. The ESC is a Hobbywing Quicrun 10BL60 water proof 60amp 2-3s lipo compatible.
The Motor is a 3650 can pushing 3930kv
Gearing 14 tooth steel pinion (stock 18t brass) I will switch this back out for a 18t steel pinion. Stock spur 55t
Good way to see what’s really water proof or not. Haha

I have a blackout and got the receiver wet and it fried so I got a new one and bought a Traxxas receiver box
I heard if you put a piece of paper in between the gears you can get the gears to set perfect every time
DEXTER DEX i just set gears fully together then back out the motor just enough so theres just a tiny bit of lash between the teeth that you can feel when turning the spur back n forth.

MTB TJ Crash stock brushed motor or brushless? U can run a lipo on both motors. But if you have a brushed motor just make sure its broken in like at least 10 runs

Whats tue pros and cons of running a brushed version on a 2s lipo for these blackout sc
Shannon Hopkins Con: if the motor not broken in it will fry. More power so it will be harder to control if ur a beginner witch means the possibility of braking parts is higher. Pros: more power longer run time more fun lol. Also brushed are better for running through water and mud just have to make sure you clean it after wards
King Veonietus just getting into it got a redcat blackout sc 1/10 they say u can run a 2s lipo and its ok just not a 3 i have no clue as to possuble damaged parts other than a motor over heating

Shannon Hopkins I would say about 10. Or a quick way I've seen was to put the motor in cold water and let it run for a full battery at about a quarter of the throttle.
Mine came with 3500 lipo.

i just did this to my sons blackout. hobbywing bl 60 esc but i opted for the 3650 3100kv pinion 18t steel. Its way faster than original or the 12t titan motor. it beats the terremoto 10 both on 2s. The first 5 runs the motor ran cool to the touch but now that the motor is broken in it does get warmer than id like. It cogs slightly on light throttle so ive ordered a 3660 3300kv which shoulder give it that extra torque and keep temps down. the motor your running looks finned on the inside is that a 380 brushless advertised as 540/550 size?. what are your temps looking like. my son has a 6500 65c 2s pack it gets a decent amount of heat if hes running through the grass non stop with a casle creations fan. it can almost pull a wheelie from a dig and almost has just it you hit it right. Im gonna make a video of it and ill make a video of it on 3s. My youngest son im gonna put a 3660 2660kv in their im hoping to keep the speed lower than the 3100kv. How fast do you think the 3900kv with 14t goes?
dayadam16 I'm not sure what 380 or 550 is? But it is 1/10 scale and yes its finned. It didn't get hot at all plus I think that water helped lol. I ran my 5000mah gens ace 2s lipo 40c. My reciver was giving me problems also I got water in the motor witch I found out after wards and I think that's the reason it felt like it was cogy when I ran through the water. I can feel the difference in power but not getting it to the ground with those tires. I will make another video on 3s also and up the pinion soon.
I think the speed is just under 30mph with that 14t. but I will also do a speed run
King Veonietus that motor your running isnt a 540 size motor its actually smaller. The fins go inward so that motor wont have as much torque. The 3650 i have is a true 1/10 size no fins and my wires come out the actual top of the motor. it looks like my wires are glued on outside of the can. If you have amazon you should try the gool rc motors i paid 22 bux for the 3650 3100kv. its almost perfect. It barely cogs but just enough that crawling isnt ideal cause when that power comes on its ridiculous. The stock motors are 57mm long. when i compared the size of tge 3650 the terremoto 10s motor is clearly longer by about 10mm so a 3660 3300 should make this perfect. ill make a video of it in the morning. it has very good power and top speed. it definitely is faster than the terremoto 10 even in grass. esc set to punch level 9.
the brushed versions come with 550 size brushed motors. i believe 37mm by 57

da streets part 3 no alot of them spin outs I did on purpose trying out the power plus it was wit out.
Hi, did you do any servo or servo saver mods. I saw complaints on other videos about the servo steering crapping out or too loose. Redcat may of fixed the quality issue by now though. Have you had any problems with the steering and/or servos and how did you resolve?
Nathan Daniels No mods just changed it out for a traxxas servo. Reason was mine striped or burned out i dont remember but there was a lil play with the servo horn. I just tighten the screw and took that metal piece and also tighten it.
i was looking at your other videos of the blackout pro and that motor is almost the same way but the fins are barely and the difference in power from this one to that none pro looks night and day. That blackout pro looks like it has power for days, both motors your running are rated for 3900kv and 3950kv right? how fast is that pro on 2s looks like it could do 40 with that power.
dayadam16 yea that pro is mid 30's @ 3800kv That new one is 3930kv haven't done speed run yet with it.
You change motor and pinion what number spur
The spur gear was stock 55 tooth. I did change the pinion back to 18 tooth, but got it steel. The stock pinion is brass and wears a lot faster.
Nice upgrade man, i have a question i upgraded mine too but it makes a weird sound when i hit the throttle (like the gears are not set properly) after it gets some speed it runs great. And would like to know what gears you installed on your car?
enigmacstrike Thanks man. I have the stock gears but upgraded the pinion to steel. factory pinion is brass and causes the spur to strip. Yea its possible u might have to go back and fix the mesh. use the sheet of paper method in between the gears.

I got a 64 metal spur gear coming for mine, does anyone know how I could make it fit
Ur gonna need a spacer or bearing to keep it in place. But it can't be to tight of a fit or it will cause to much friction and make the motor work harder as well.

funny, I just got a similar esc and that same motor for my kids blackout sc.. it needs a good high quality servo too, anyone else with the blackout feel like the steering system is absurd and just impossible to get precision out of.. the design is just kinda weak and no matter what you swap out, after a while there's just total slop and the front end is doing the bad shopping cart thing
just curious ... I fully understand it's entry level stuff. . and I will admit that it's been one very tough truck. . no suspension or steering arms broken. . obviously it's got the servo saver that is problematic .. I wonder if all the slop in the steering is keeping it alive longer. . anyways, my 8 yr old son digs it and it deserves a few updates.
funshootin1 they have aluminum upgrades now that might help with the slop but its way to pricing. Thanks for watching

Yea it's 1/10 scale. But ur better off just buying that car. Amazon has it in sale right now for $250
V6 Vic i already bought the pro and is yet to come in and was a bit strapped for cash. Just wondering for future upgrade cause i cant aford right now to buy a battery and a charger for it. They dont come with those. Any thoughts on the camo tt?
@@LuisLopez-ed7oc if you got the Pro then you're good. It comes with more then enough power. I would just focus on getting a better lipo battery. If u want more power than get a 3s lipo it's gona be crazy. Just mind the motor temps.

Eric Charles Ash yes esc is splash proof and so is motor. I did get alot of water in the motor once and it slows it down or makes it bog down but I just tip it over and its fine again. I also sealed it up after that where the wire come out from so no worrys now.
yea putting a lipo on a NiMH esc will burn it out.
It was lipo compatible but it was an older esc. But that not what burned out it was my shitty soldiering. Either way it was to hot something was gonna give

If it's the brushless motor yes. The brushed motor might burn out

mechanical mania there's 2 different versions. The brushed addition which is about $150 and there's the brushless addition which is $200.

your losing service because u habe water in the receiver I would be really careful with a lipo in water cuz that thing can short circuit
Yea i cleaned it out but it still sucks i even tried it on a different transmitter. I changed it out all together for a fly sky remote. Far as the lipo ive ben lucky running them through water

I run all my setups through water I live in upstate NY but there all water proof or resistance. I covered up that opening where the wires come out of the motor with plumbing putty and sealed it with flex seal. I got water in it and it was still running but it start to bog down. Runs fine now
yah if your car isn't running after water I don't recommend trying to drive it cuz u can fry the esc like that all the escs aren't waterproof blown a few like that hey i was wondering do u think i can fit that long ass motor from a redcar racing terremoto on that truck you used cuz if that was possible that thing would fly but the shaft is a bit huge
Im not sure how big that motor is. Just measure the length and you would also have to see if the motor mount matches up with the motor wholes. That would be crazy but i think its possible I saw a video of a guy running 4s or 6s on his xte pro
