Very few people in Sweden are religious and for that i'm proud 🙏 Of course to be religious is not equal to being a bad person but religion has had such a bad impact on society in the whole world.

Not necessarily. There's been good and evil in everything, same with religion. Religion has formed our values which we live by even to this day. You shall not steal, murder, engage in gluttony, vanity, cheat in your beloved etc. Those are all religious values, and I'm by all means fine by that. However, being religious in 2024 feels outdated. We've always wanted answers to things, and when we couldn't get answers we turned to God. Now we can prove stuff with science, so things looks different.

@@hencytjoe "Religion has formed our values " Really? You think homo sapiens, unlike just about every other herd animal on the planet, for hundred of thousand years until we invented religion didn't grasp tit for tat? Survival of the fittest would have eliminated us long before we could make up religion if we were that much more socially inept than other animals. I'd argue it's the other way around. Religion at large is strongly conservative. Tell me one major religon that hasn't at one point in history supported horrible concept like bigotry, misogyny, slavery or genocide? Then when human society advances despite religion and the religous has to be dragged screaming out of the darkness they turn around and pretend they advocated those values all along.

It’s ironic. It’s about people that try to find someone to blame for everything. This song is loved in the gay community

As it should be, it's a parody of Evangelical Christianity. In Sweden those have absolutely zero influence though. Even their old party KD just ignores that shit now and won't take in anyone that would oppose abortion or gay marriage as a member to their party.

This isnt about gay people. This critizise fundamentalism in religion that blames everyone else instead of themselfs when something bad happens. It actually critizise people that talk about moral decline as a reason for problems instead of the real reasons for those problems.

Just no. It's completely independent media that BY LAW has to be separate from the state and unbiased.
I assume you're 'murican or from some shithole like that that has no clue what independent and unbiased media that CANNOT be bought would be like but us Swedes know.
And yes, SVT have been forced to fire people or retract things because there is also independent oversight, something a Russian, Saudi Arabian or 'murican wouldn't get either.

4:10, You're right in the satire that putting the blame on something else that just doesn't line up with your values/morality even when they're obviously innocent is part of the joke. But I feel like you did not get the joke mocking religion etc. It's not a song disliking gays at all.

The whole (except the fundamentalist religious), i.e. 99% of the Swedish population, understands that the cape is directed against the faithfulness of religion. Faith in "the word" (read MEN who set themselves to represent God) before knowledge, humanism. Men who (against EVERYTHING the Bible preaches) put Mammon and their own gain before Jusu's words and actions.

This is satire, making fun of religion in general and Christianity in particular - not the gays.
For context: Sweden is a very secular society that prides itself on its egalitarianism. Religious freedom does not mean impunity, and if you say something judgemental or discriminating in the name of your God, you are not exempt from criticism just because you're pious.

Is anyone was worried about it I can tell you that the same year this song was on TV in Sweden the gay people had it on their QX party, it's was their main song, because they understood the humor, so they loved this song and how it is a satire to religious people who actually believes in that, not the gay community.

I think you are the only "Americans" not to cringe while the preacher puts his arm around the child... had you been African (Kenya or Tanzania) I would have belaved your reactions. Culturally there is a difference between an African and an American point of view and thereby what they would see. This is more an African take than an American take to me - maybe own that African heritage?
