Camping in a thunderstorm - Part 2 of our 3 days hiking and wild camping trip to the Cairngorms in Scotland. The weather was brutal at times. Mother Nature threw at us strong wind and heavy rain and it was a little nervy when the thunder and lightning joined the party. I don't recommend camping in a storm, especially thunder & lightning. If it had been on the forecast we wouldn't have gone ahead with the trip.

I like these multi day videos I find them much more interesting than the ‘one night stands’ although I understand that one nighters are easier to arrange at short notice. Watching this reminded me of when we got caught in a thunder storm near the top of Great hill in Lancashire. Lightning landed about 50metres to the l;eft of us and we all dived into the ditch at the side of the path on the right. It was a dry ditch when we went in. Half an hour of keeping as low as we could till the storm passed. Like the man said, Once it starts you are best staying where you are. ⛈⛈⛈

I love the identification. I was once caught in the thunder and lightening senario and got too cocky. I found a nice shelter out of the rain and was punching my fist at the sky and shouting "rain all you like". Within about two minutes of lying down this torrent of water from above from an over flow absolutely drenched me. F**king bad news at the time but absolutely hilarious now. People came past and asked if I was ok 👍. I was freezing but in the morning the sun came out and it was a scorcher dried me off in about two hours and I was on my way again. That's what makes it all worth while. I find it really spiritual. 🤠❤🙏
