    VAG PN for the trigger wire terminal in position 5 of the light switch connector is 00979009E. I did this today on our '11 GOV/JSW. In order to insert the terminal in position 5, you need to release the terminal lock on that side of the connector with a small pick tool. With the lock released, the terminal slides into position easily. I also found the clips on the after-market fascia pieces supplied by this vendor to be either too wide or too thick to use as-is. Even after a bit of filing to get the fascia pieces to snap on, the lower parts don't align properly with the lower grill. Oh well, something to work on in the spring.

      May be a quality control item regarding the clips and aligning with the lower grill. I didn’t have the same issues, minus it taking quite a bit of force to pop them in. Appreciate you leaving the VAG PN! 👍🏻

    Thanks for the wiring help. My son bought a similar kit for his car and it has a cheap switch with 3 wires. I wondered what the other 2 were for. Now I now it's just to light up the switch when the fog lights are on and the other wire is just the trigger wire to turn on the relay. Thanks again!

    Great job explaining this install!
    My state (Virginia) requires the fogs to go out when using high beams. Is there additional wiring required to get this to happen?

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! My state requires it as well but, I just do my best to stay aware of my surroundings. In order to get them to turn on with high beams, you just need a 5 pin relay. When the high beams power the relay, it opens the circuit thus cutting power to the fogs.
      There’s a pretty good explanation on this forum. forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/how-to-have-fog-lights-turn-off-when-high-beams-are-on.446296/

    Thanks for the detailed instructions! Made this install a breeze. One thing though, my fog lights are draining power even when not turned on, meaning I come back to a dead battery. My vw tech friend says the channel I chose is constantly supplying power, but I’m not too good at these things. I’m thinking I might’ve done something different than you, as my fog lights will only come on when the engine is running. If there’s anything I can do to keep the fog lights from draining power your help would be awesome. Thanks again, great video.

      Gage I’m gonna dig into this in the next week or so (while doing a frost heater install). I had a drain as well but presumed it was due to a bad ground (didn’t fully tighten the ground bolt.)
      It could be an issue with the relay itself.

    • @stevenwagner5263
      @stevenwagner5263 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you ever figure out this issue?

      Bumping this. Did you ever find out a solution for the drain?

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So, about a year ago I hooked my system back up and haven’t seen a draw issue since. For me, it appeared to be related to a main ground loose. That being said, the fact that a few others are seeing this issue gives me a bit of concern, as that could mean where’s there’s smoke there’s fire. My issue hasn’t come back, but I would recommend you double check the main ground under the intake piping.
      If it is causing a draw, it’s likely the relay. Good news is that relays are relatively cheap and super simple to replace.

    Hey man, great video, but how exactly did you connect the white wire to pin 5? Was there an un-crimped, empty pin in that slot? It didn't look like there was...

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Pete, I had some pins on hand but none that fit in that small of a slot. I just wound a bare 1/8” of the wire tight, slid it in and used a zip tie to secure it. No issues months later 👍🏻

  • @JesseDuranMusic

    Quick question! I already have a euro switch installed and all the wiring neccessary from the manufacuture. I would need this because my fog lights broke. Would this just be pulg and play?

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jesse! As far as the fog light bezels and housing go, they should fit right in like a factory system. In regards to whether or not it will be plug and play, I think it’s VERY likely. Both factory and aftermarket use the same bulb, and therefor I imagine they use the same type of connecter, which means you should be able to just plug them in.

  • @DirtRoadTherapy
    @DirtRoadTherapy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do the fogs turn off when the high beams are switched on? Or are they on all the time high and low beams? I bought the Spyder kit, but if they're on all the time, I'm not gonna bother with the euro switch, I'll just trigger them off the low beam!

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The euro switch just pulls out to trigger the fog lights. I believe if you have tuning software you can lock it out from high beams.

  • @runfromdoctors

    The white wire that was short and went into position 5 to go into Euro switch, where does the other end get connected to? Thanks

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I recall that’s the trigger switch for the relay that powers the fogs.

  • @BosnianHD
    @BosnianHD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would it be possible rewire the switch into the center console where there is those little buttons above the shifter instead of adding a euro switch? Also, would it burn those fog lights if you put LEDs in?

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would imagine so! Really you can place a trigger switch anywhere. LED’s shouldn’t damage that housing.

    • @stevenwagner5263
      @stevenwagner5263 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you end up wiring into the center console? Would love to know how it went as I’d like to do the same.

      You just want to find a pin location that gets power when you pull the switch out for the fog lights. Get a multimeter and try out the pin 7 slot

    • @theoegarage
      @theoegarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These are regular halogens, (not a big deal to me right now since the OEM bulbs are halogen as well). As far as brightness, I was happy with the amount, and spread, of the output. Definitely are doing their job! 👍🏻

      Mark;
      The word mark, followed by number, is a method of designating a version of a product. It is often abbreviated as Mk or M. This use of the word possibly originates from the use of physical marks made to measure height or progress. Furthermore, by metonymy the word mark is used to note a defined level of development or a model number.
