    Bought a 2001 Bandit myself in early October. Got it for 2700 34,000km on it. My very first bike at 40 years old. In love with it. The sound it makes is just perfect exactly how a Japanese sports bike should sound.

    My last bike had the same engine. ‘01 katana 600. Rode it for years until I bought the zx14r I have now. This is the nicest bike I’ve owned in 32+ years of riding.

    Soon has you put some aftermarket exaust on.you need to upjet to suite.what comes out must go in...air correction kit..150 size for 600 or 170 size for 1200

    • @AllTheBikes
      @AllTheBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree! The exaust was on there like that when I purchased the bike. I have since got the original exhaust to put on it, sealed the tank, put the correct plugs in the bike and now its running perfectly! What do you ride?

    Yes, it's loud! That adapted muffler probably doesn't have much in the way of baffles inside it....

    • @AllTheBikes
      @AllTheBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No definitely no baffles but, it doesnt seem any louder than my shadow, which doesnt have any baffles either. Do you ride?

      @@AllTheBikes I used to ride, now I'm shopping for a bike to get back into it, and the Bandit is on my list. Did you go through the carbs and check the plugs? It might be running lean.

      I did clean the carbs and rejetted just the other day. that fixed some things but still needs some tweeking. I did a ride video where i talked about where the bike is at now... Hope u get back on two wheels soon!

    Your gas leak on that carburetor could be coming from the fuel peacock. If so it’ll only get worse. Had to replace the one in my 600 Bandit.

    Think you need your ears looking at as the bandit 600 is “loud”. Bandits are great bikes 600 and 1200 are best tho. Easy to maintain economical to run and boy are they great fun. Enjoy buddy I don’t think you will be selling it in the near future

    Just clean the carbs first with fuel system cleaner and if that doesn't improve the running then clean the individual carb jets and emulsion tube, and blow out the orifices in the carb body.
    Check that jetshave not been altered from stock including float heights in each carburettor.
    Try fitting an original stock exhaust muffler this will cure the flat spot in the rev range.
    Take the bike out for a long hard ride with lots of acceleration and cog swapping.
    Check the condition of all the sparkplugs terminals and regap if necessary.
    Do a carb synchronisation.
    The fuel leak could also could also bcoming from the main fuel feed to a tee joint situated at the back of the carburettors between No2 and No3 this Tee could need replacement .

      No you're not!
      The Bandit 650 was introduced in 2005 so stop telling porkies.
      Until that date it was the Bandit 600 air cooled MK2.

  • @Apollo949

    Look, if you're using ethanol petrol (gas) you are destroying the Bandit. They are not designed to run on that Micky Mouse fuel and require E5.
    E10 eats away at your fuel lines and delicate internal carb parts so no wonder the carb is leaking.
    I live in the UK and always use E5 and with 33, 000 miles on the clock the bike is still running well.

    • @AllTheBikes
      @AllTheBikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats great info... I guess. I live in the U.S.A and I dont use E5 or E10. In the is video, as stated in the title, this was a "NEW (used) BIKE". I had just purchased it and filmed my absolute first ride after getting it in barely running condition. As it turns out, the carb was leaking because who ever was in the carb last, bunched up the bowl gasket on one carb.

    • @Apollo949
      @Apollo949 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AllTheBikes I'm not saying you were responsible, just saying that if the previous owner had been using gas with a high ethanol content it will destroy the carb and fuel lines. My other bike is E10 compatible, a 2018 Honda 650, but I still use premium fuel. It has cleaning agents which services the injectors.
