  • This muffler/pipe design is by no means something I came up with. Go check out Buckin'
    / buckinbillyraysmith
if you want to see more of these whacky mufflers that his close friend Bearclaw designed.
When I see and experience something that works & WORKS WELL, you better believe I'm going to incorporate it into my life. These things flat out work! No denying it. Anyone can build one, just takes a little time and patience is all.

These saws respond very well to most any muffler mods, in general, but the gains with this particular one are very impressive.

I have a 350 that I have been building for the last half year. I opened the exhaust and intake right up. I don't have timing numbers but I raised exhaust and lowered intake by about 1mm. Didn't touch the transfers as I was unsure about doing a nice job grinding them. I essentially did a base gasket delete by honing cylinder down till piston wouldn't cycle thought the cylinder. Then I added a new gasket. Once again don't have the squish haha. I've just got a 359 carb in the post today and found your vid seeing if anyone else has done 350s. Can't wait to put carb on. Last thing to do will be a muffler, maybe claw like yours as it works so well!

WOW JUST WOW. Nice work brother. Those are huge gains on a stock saw or a ported saw either way that's impressive. Don't you worry about paint or shine. Function over fashion every time. Plenty of fashion though I must say. You rock brother. Thank you for this great video. 🌲❤🌲👊🪓

I got one of these that would run great for a few minutes and then die. Found the hole for the tank vent was never actually drilled through. Works perfect after I fixed that.

@@samishsawworks5870 The fella I bought the saw from was selling off a bunch of his father's stuff that he left when he passed away. He didn't know much about that saw but he knew his dad bought it years ago and never really used it. So he took it to a shop, had the carb rebuilt and fuel lines changed. It didn't run right so he took it in again and they rebuilt the carb again under warranty. He gave me the paperwork for all of it. When I used it the first time it ran well until it died. Open the fuel cap and you could hear the air rush in. Removed the tank vent and couldn't blow air into the tank. Drilled a tiny hole down inside and it works perfect. Then I did a timing advance, base gasket delete, muffler mod, and its a screamer.

Now this is a dog gone great vid. You spent a lot of time filming and editing. Thanks.
I tried changing the clutch to a rim style on my 350 in December and nothing fit. Worst of all the bearing was too big for the crank and the old bearing was too small for the new clutch cup.
By your results I will do better for a muffler.

I really like the lightweight bars for these saws. My favorite the Tsumura reduced weight bars. The Sugihara bars are very nice too, just comes down to price and availability. The metal on these bars seems to be of much higher quality and holds up much better & longer than the factory bars. Any bar with a K095 mount will fit. I feel the 350, with a smart operator, will pull a 20" bar all day long.

Not sure if you are running 3/8 or .325 pitch chain, but my favorite brand is stihl 33RS (33RSF is the skip tooth version) full chisel chain. I run it on everything.

@@johnforsyth8414.325 pitch is a great size chain for those saws.
Sugihara makes a .325 pitch 20" bar. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, the Oregon power match bars are a great aftermarket replacement or a stock husqvarna bar is just fine too. For .325 chain I like the Stihl 23RS chain.
