When it comes to power saws, your enthusiasm is infectious! When you realized that that Bear claw pipe would fit, you were like a kid with a brand new toy on Christmas!!! Love the content you bring to us! You have a loyal follower in me here in Michigan!!!!
G'day Tinman, those 025's were a good little saw I purchased one in 92 for limbing and it payed for itself many times over, I also had a Sachs Dolmar 80cc I couldn't fault it I always placed it on a mat to protect the paint when I traded it in on my first 066Magnum I received what I payed for it it pays to look after your saws I had only blocked 1500 tonnes with it 👍.
That pipe is a design to be admired. I will be trying to replicate it. I remember seeing it on Buckins channel a ways back and I thought it was cool. Now in your video I got to see more of it and I got to see the difference between the stock exhaust and the bearclaw exhaust on the same saw. It is outstanding. Great video Tinman.
I'm a Stihl man but have a Dolmar 116e which I think is awesome; so much grunt for a 60cc saw. Rips through Aussie hardwood like it was pine! I enjoy your videos.
I have that same model, also 6 other dolmar saws. Absolutely love them! I'm just a firewood cutter, all are stock. I cut ash, maple, and oak in N.E.Ohio. 3 to 4 cords a year. Made in Germany! Wood(pun intended) love to see more content on these saws. Not very popular in my area either. Such a good saw more folk's should know about. Love all your videos!!! Take good care of your family and yourself !!! Love ya brother!!
Tinman, love your channel and of course the ironhorse! I'm with you on the limiters on the carburetor and would like to take mine off my saw, however I'm not mechanically inclined and either too tired after work to read something about the proper way to take them off. Saw a couple things on TH-cam on how to do it, but would like a pros advice. Thank you for your time, your friend in the woods, Dave in Ohio. Have a wonderful day
Excellent Video! Dolmar got bought by Makita, and Makita has made the "cooperate" decision to stop making gas powered saws :( There is a shop in New York, "The Cutting Edge"; in Greenwich NY. Prolly the most knowledgeable and complete Dolmar dealer in this country. An amazing collection of the big dolmars , even Wankel's. Hope you get the chance to meet them before they are gone :(
My 7900 is personally 20% better than my Stihl 460, bought my 460 new, and my dolmar blown up, was straight gassed, new C n P and best saw I ever owned
Honestly I don't know what it is about dolmars with a pipe on them but they sound absolutely beautiful!!! doesn't matter what dolmar saw either could be a sach's dolmar could plain dolmar or modern makita which is a dolmar 😁👍 awsome video tinman
I love dolmars. Have a 7900 and the old monster 9010. They really are well built. The name changed a number of times throughout their history, Sachs dolmar was one of the names, which changed just to dolmar in 1991 when makita bought the company. Makita buying dolmar was the worst thing that could have happened. RIP dolmar. That 7300 sounds mean with the bear claw muffler.
Nice video! As usual. My 7900 with slight muffler mod pulls a 36" through wood like a mofo!❤️. Not crazy about the floppy AV system, but she starts and cuts like no tomorrow🔥
That’s a non-cat muffler, it just has a baffle inside. A pretty simple one at that. The cat mufflers are stainless steel. Sounds good with that bear claw pipe!
Watch that strap Tinman, when you get a running start in the truck and take up the slack. I've busted those before, on trees that wouldn't move. Also, I'm sure you know the wrap a few times around the tree, and that gets it rolling too - but yeah, I broke that exact strap doing what you just did - but on a much bigger log that was partially over the side of a river bank. It was kinda a drag (though we did get the tree out, with a bigger more heavy duty strap, and some cutting) but I used that strap so many times to pull cars out in the winter time. Haven't used my new one yet.
In 2010 a dolmar6400 started my firewood bizness, 300 cords a yr, then instantly found the big bore and did it, im so bummed there not available anymore, i still got the sticker from the shop i bought it from, i paid 500$ brand new
Nice saw those pipes seemed to make a difference on a stock saw. I have (dolkita) makita dolmar ea6100p stock would like to try pipes ha ha need those ear protection 😀. Congrats there new dad.
Hey Tinman! I hope all is well with the new baby. I really enjoy watching your videos. I have the same dolmar 7300 but it’s in a little rough shape Lol. They are a good strong saw for sure! I’d like to replicate the bear claw pipe for it because it sounds so good! Stay safe out there and keep the awesome videos coming! 👍
You had me at Dolmar! Yeah, I’ve gotta build a Bear Claw pipe for sure now. The 7300 is an earlier version. I think you got to get to the xx21 saws before the cat showed it’s ugly head. What a screamer!!
how much performance do you think you gained with that pipe? where could i find one? i have a ps7900 if it runs that nice with pipe i might keep stock and get a 066 for big stuff
Sachs Dolmar has been around for decades and well known more in Europe. Made some great saws and sadly bought out by Makita a few years ago, and they’ve completed eliminated internal combustion engines. Nothing but electric offerings now.
Always nice to improve performance of the saw, but it’s nice if it can be done while keeping the aesthetics of the saw as well. Never been a fan of the way the pipes look. Just a personal preference. Bye the way, the Wood Wiesel sounds pretty good too.
Today I’m not buying a 2511t and 361. I’ve been wanting both and they both showed up not at crackhead prices, yet here I sit. If a 372xp showed up I might not be able to resist any longer. That said I can’t believe you want an 025 having run 260’s. Same weight, more power and rpm. I have a 346xp and wouldn’t want another saw with the same weight and less power. I think about a ms170 or cs-3450 but want the super light 2511t more for lightweight gas cutting to replace my 20v dewalt just for run time and fun factors. I use the dewalt for anything it’s big enough for as the weight and one hand use gives ginsu properties. The problem with dragging logs out is dirt. I’d much rather cut in the tangle then cutting the one you dragged out.
I know who built that pipe for billy, the transfer ports in those DOLMAR are tiny, could use a lot of work, but how does it run so good stock, love them saws
@@tinmanssaws I believe the guy asked if you wanted to sell the saw, part with it, not port it, I have 6400-7300-7900, all of them, was wondering if a big bor kit to make a 85cc with the 54mm piston would give more power but hurt my low end torque, want to see pictures of your little baby, mine are all grown up, stay strong
I'm always curious about why certain things are called what they are. For some background I'm from the east coast of the US and logging used to be pretty big here. I remember growing up my Dad having old McCullochs and Homelites. Everyone always called them chainsaws or just "saws". From my nerdy research "powersaw" seems to be more of a west coast thing. Thanks for the replies everyone.
Wouldn’t it be running lean after swapping to the new exhaust? Or what is it about the change would make it rich? I slapped a bark box on my 036 and had to richen the carb
That’s “just in case” it catches the starter pawls while it shuts off, because those mechanisms only allow for so much of that to happen before they give out. Buckin has covered it on his channel a few times but so has Tinman.
Great saw my good friend in Washington built me a 7900 out of a 6401. I need a flywheel tho mine snapped the key off. What do you keep in your go to saw tool box? I have not seen many of you guys go over a field box. Thanks friend from Graton California

Why do you pull the rope out before you shut down the saw ?
that dolmar is pretty peppy with the pipe on it.

These pipes seem to create some pull in the exhaust, they always make a saw richer when they work.
A muffler mod always seems to lean a saw out.

entraram junto no mato pra mostrar a serventia
a motosserra roncava machado velho tinia
e naquele matagal foi só cavaco de pau pó de serra que subia
e esse grande duelo deste jeito é que termina
na briga das ferramentas o machado é que domina
motosserra parou cedo ali no tronco da quina
machado seguiu cortando mata grossa e mata fina
motosserra impotente rebentou sua corrente acabou a gasolina
