Interesting. I’ve been trying to figure out a noise on my 2001 1500HD 4x4, finally decided its a front bearing. The noise stops when I turn left... but the only bearing that gives me any wiggle when I jack up the front end is the left side! But at 207k miles I’m going to replace both sides anyhow... no half measures with this great old truck.
i've worked on these for years and get fooled by bearing noise location, i have replaced wrong one, then take that bearing and put in on defective side,

Doing both sides is a good idea, But plan on spending the whole weekend on it. It’s a bitch to get the old wheel hubs off a truck that old. Good luck
Great explanation!

Always replace both
That's a wheel bearing
