really good video man. i noticed some play in my driver side hub today and decided to look it up. looks like i have a next weekend project. looks way easier than i thought lol.
To be clear on the brake caliper torques, the Caliper Guide pins (which you didn't remove) are 80 ft lbs. The caliper bracket that bolts to the knuckle is 221 ft lbs torque on the 2500HD trucks. It's a monster bolt, like 5/8" for the threaded part. Also recommended to put blue loctite on those.
How do i check to see if its time to Repplace The CV Joints? His Videos are Really Good and when Your filming or teaching someone its easy to get distracted and fail to mention something in all fairness.
@@appreciatethat In my Chilton book it says Fronts 2500HD are 221 ft lbs, Rear 2500 calipers, 99-02 128ft lb, For years 2003 and later JC3/JC5/JH2/JH5 calipers are 148 ft lb JH6 calipers are 122 ft lb JH7 calipers are 221 ft lb
Yeah, this is my son's truck and I like to teach him with the least power tools as possible. If you learn how to do things without the latest and greatest tools, then doing it with power tools will make it that much easier for you. Thanks for watching.
put it in 4x4 mode before you crack the axle nut --- I leave the backing plates out on my pick up and semi -- brakes cool better nothing gets between rotors and backing plate and you can inspect your brakes a lot more easy
Yeah, that was aggravating to put the hub assembly on to realize we had the backing plate on wrong. We are not everyday mechanics, but we learned our lesson. Thanks for your tip about leaving it off.
You really do great videos. So clear and straight forward. No BS in the beginning. You hit all the information needed. Super job!

You are the man. Exactly what I came to see.
Good catch brother, 80 lbs flirting with disaster

@@CarAddictGarage Like you, I show my videos so others are entertained. But I need more people to SUB my channel. Oh well, one sub at a time.
Great video lots of help
Glad it helped
Haha...that dust shield makes a little noise when it on backerds...did the same thing
Fantastic video guys!
Getting the 4 hub bolts behind are not to bad unless some idiot stripped the heads of the bolts with wrong size socket!!!!
Liked vid cheers
Stripped bolts are a headache.
Is the front hub assembly replacement the same part for the rear?
Using the torque wrench to break bolts/nuts loose, is a good way to kill the torque wrench. But I understand, do what you have to do. Good tutorial.
My thoughts exactly hahaha
I just mine done at the dealer. $50] labor. Well worth it.

Who says not to use a "cheater bar"? I wouldn't be able to do any of this without it.
Does 1500 hd trucks have the same front wheel bearings as 2500Hds?
No they are very different.
What brand hub did you use
I can't remember the brand.
Always use a new axle nut.
My 2004 has a 36 mm axle nut
Mine too
05 as well
Why would u do this maintenance in first place?
You will know if your hub bearings go out. It makes a loud grinding noise.
Lil confused thou seeing that axle nut is 36mm in some videos 35mm in some which is it lol
Never mind was 35 on pass side 36 on driver side
Mine doesnt have that cap or cv axles
must be a 2wd then
