    Budget MTG Decks
    All magic fun, all cards under a dollar
    We here at Budget MTG Decks love playing constructed Magic: the Gathering! Whether it’s EDH / Commander, pauper or modern, 1v1 or multiplayer, we can’t get enough of it.
    Our vision of MTG is a game which encourages strategic thinking, social interaction and above all…fun! To make this accessible to everyone we decided to lower the two largest barriers which people encounter with this game:
    1: Cost of building a Magic deck.
    2: Complexity of building a Magic deck.
    Our mission at Budget MTG Decks is to provide full deck tech videos describing ready to play EDH / Commander, Modern, Pauper and duel decks. With in depth commentary on each card and overall play style. To make sure the decks are truly budget we have limited the price of all our cards to under a dollar (with exception of the commanders). Now everyone can join the Magic: the Gathering fun!

    What do you think of this preconstructed deck? Do you think red was the right color for tokens in addition to white and green? Which non-budget cards would you include in the deck if you had more then $25 to upgrade it? Liked the video? Show us some love by sharing it with your friends!

    I like using Moonsilver Spear with Ghired. Sandwurm Convergence and I replaced Colossal Majesty with Zendikar Resurgence. Also Canopy Cover is a great aura that gives Ghired hexproof and unblockable to all without flying or reach. And Treetop Bracers for even more unblockable. Avacyn Angel of Hope gets a big groan when she hits the battlefield. And Fierce Empath to tutor for Archetype of Endurance. And Shalai Voice of Plenty for more hexproof.

    Love your videos. Sad this channel is mo longer active. I like the additions to your deck videos such as in this one where Iroas totally slipped my mind as well as the sword. Some of those card prices have jumped up recently. I always felt you were ahead of the curve on a lot of your deck building and cards that were overlooked. Great video..!!

    I'd recommend buying a couple extra Rhino tokens if you don't have any extras the precon comes with only 1

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's pretty bad, you should have at least 2 copies of any token you produce.

  • @PBlot1
    @PBlot1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Great video as usual, but I'd like to point out something about Minion Reflector in the upgrades section.
    Unlike the other cards seen here that generate tokens that die at end of turn, Minion Reflector actually gives its tokens the text "at end of turn, sacrifice this permanent".
    Any copy of that token has to be sacrificed. It's not the Minion Reflector that's making you sacrifice the original token; it's the token itself demanding that it be sacrificed, and that text is copied with the token.
    It can still be a worthwhile upgrade, I think, but the player has to keep this limitation in mind, maybe save those populate triggers for something else.

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, Minion Reflector is better used for making tokens with nice enter the battlefield triggers or dies triggers. That's the only way populate will give you the value you want.

    One thing I see with this deck is it doesn't have haste. If there is a way to give all creatures haste I would be a little better, because you spend your whole turn getting big tokens then you hope you untap with it. Also I think Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite would be a great addition to this deck.

    This is a wonderful upgrade to the deck. What makes Primal Genesis great is that there are many ways to upgrade this precon. If you would like some different ideas check out this upgrade for around $100 commanderclinicmtg.com/index.php/2019/08/21/take-ten-primal-genesis/. You can also check out the budget options here. commanderclinicmtg.com/index.php/2019/08/23/take-ten-budget-edition-primal-genesis/
    What makes these articles different is that it is ten cards in ten cards out so you are switching only 10% of the precon.

      Tried oketra and it's way to slow. To many board wipes causes this deck to be flimsy. Need more support for your stuff like giving stuff indestructible or hexproof. Taking oketra out for probably a kiki jiki, I'd get more value off of it than oketra.

      @BudgetMTGDecks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What made the Morph deck suppress the Populate deck?

    • @TheMystcast
      @TheMystcast 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BudgetMTGDecks morphs are very unpredictable and having a token based strategy I got shut down often by the morph decks and other decks. I need to keep my token makers on the board long enough so I can populate 10-20 tokens. One of the huge downfalls of this deck is no haste enablers so I fixed that by adding fires of yavima and fervor. Without haste I am a sitting duck for a whole round of turns till I can attack. I wanted to keep Emmra in the deck but I've heard people say i should take her out and put in something else. But I like the effect of my creature tokens immune to all damage not just combat.

    While these are some good upgrades, this deck, much like any other creature heavy or token strategies, needs haste enablers badly. Hammer of Purphoros, Samut (Creature variant), Fires of Yavimaya, etc. would be great cards to put in to boost the power of this precon. Other cards not mentioned that would be good upgrades would be Godsire, Helm of the Host, Sandwurm Convergence, Seance, Anointed Procession, Parallel Lives, and many more. Also, Eladamri's Call is a good tutor to pick up as well!

      Sandwurm Convergence looks really mana intensive. How often can you really cast it with this deck? It's the only thing stopping me from putting it in there.

    • @FyreMagyk67
      @FyreMagyk67 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mr_mayhem2297 Sure, it is mana intensive but so are some creatures that would be great in the deck. Just look at Godsire. Same CMC and could potentially do the same thing, generate tokens and board presence. However, Godsire can be dealt with in an easier fashion compared to Sandwurm Convergence. Convergence has the upside of preventing flyers from attacking you and allows an easier for you build a board after a wrath. We also in G and will probably have a mana doubler, so it shouldn't be difficult to do.
      But those are just my two cents. Build as you see fit!
